  1. hi all, a friend of me has some very sweeeeet smoke for sale. i tried it for two demo´s now and in my opinion it´s much better than anything that´s available in europe. The smoke canister are very small compared to the other products available (sos water rescue smoke stuff...), has very high and intense smoke output and is very visible even from far away. it only burns for 60-75 seconds though. on my last demo i took 2 of them, one for freefall and one for the canopy stuff. and the best thing is the price: i think it´s about half the price compared to all other smokes. it comes in white/yellow/green. so if you´re interested write an email to [email protected] an i´ll be happy to provide you with more info´s pics, even videos and of course some smoooooke. bs
  2. yeah mike! wouldn´t believe shannon´s math, huh? nice!
  3. yeah, no way i would believe my viso about the speed... 2 jumps ago i had 175 km/h... that must be about 105mph or something??? haha... sure... but interesting thing morris wrote about mounting it on the back, i´ll try this out.
  4. i don´t trust my VISO for canopy speed, but on my CF2 119 loaded at 1.85 it showed 86 mp/h with a good 270.
  5. ...maybe your nipples are too high?
  6. hm, can someone tell me, what packsize the Optimum 143 has? i need to know if it fit´s in a PdF Atom LegendR 000...? anyone...? thanks
  7. haha, same for me. everytime a friend asks me to borrow him my pc1000 it gives me sleepless nights... bought mine for 800 dollars one year ago.
  8. nice analysis. well done, thanks!
  9. hm. shitty exits can happen, also crap drogue pulls and ugly frap hats , but to me this is absolutely you inducing and continuing the spin. to me it looks like you are taking the spin right from the exit! like another poster mentioned before, youre arms are on the student instead of trying to stop the spin. on my TI formation i had to make every single jump as a TI drogueless from 13k down to 6k -> helps you to appreciate some wide suits with drag, no RW-suits ... and did the landing just look like a downwind landing, with the canopy falling to the ground in FRONT of you? i´m really in no position to show with my finger at you (900 jumps, 150 tandems), but mabye you should make one or two jumps as TI with an experienced jumper as passenger and try some drogueless jumps, with the passenger NOT acting cooperatively. cheers, a
  10. same thing happened to me. seems to be an issue with turning the backlight on during the climb. too lazy to contact l&b.
  11. hm, so how does a WL over 3 feel like?? must be ballistic? is the progression in speed from 2 to 3 more or less than from 1 to 2?
  12. with my barely 800 jumps i´m fully aware of my lack of knowledge and experience in this awesome sport. so let me just post 2 of my experiences with the gath retractable visor helmet, concerning the protection this helmet offers: 1. on exiting an aircraft i wasn´t used to with a wingsuit i bumped my head on the tail of the plane. the impact was pretty strong, and i have a nice scratch on my gath. during the last 10 years or so, i´ve taken a lot of bumps and strokes to my head, and i do know how strong it has to be to make me unconscious. this one would certainly have send me to dreamy-dream land without the gath helmut. 2. on swooping downwind on a high wind day i flew into a metal street sign, while trying to avoid a cornfield (in vain...) that suddenly came closer and closer. also in this case the protection was enough to avoid injuries at all, that would certainly have occured without the gath. the point is: it surely is one of the poorly protected helmet on the market, but it IS a helmet, and IMHO it does offer the amount of protection to MY head, that is required in this sport. i wouldn´t go freeskiing, alpine rockclimbing or speedflying with it. cheers.
  13. http://www.l-and-b.dk/optima.html ... is nice.
  14. i like my gath. it does offer some protection, (i tried it...) but not as much as a bonehead or more voluminous headgear. i also wear MX pants for 70€ with hip and sacrum protection, having fractured my sacrum some month ago... works really fine for me!
  15. daaamn, thats weird! i hope everything turns out fine for you! thanks for the explanation!
  16. It happened at a hell of a time, too-Just as I reached back to throw the drogue on a tandem. ???? now you have to explain!!!
  17. hi, i think i can comment on both questions: 1) i´ve heard of and experienced myself rawa-incidents, where the complete chin cup went off, when the skydiver turned his head under canopy far enough to unlatch the notches on the 3-ring-system. to avoid this i´ve modified the helmut and put a security leash, that goes under my chin and that would keep the rawa (and the multi-thousand € equipment on it...) on my head. of course i´ve integrated the additional strap into my 2) Cut-away system: i took the bonehead cutaway system from an optic illusion. it´s really easy to mount, you just need to drill a hole where latches for the chin cup are fixed to the helmet and replace the screw with the rawa screw. i´ve tried the system 2 times under tension, and it worked okay. i´ll post pics if i find them!
  18. i found it, no way i could have followed it down, but i saw where it went down... brand new crossfire2 with just 7 jumps! man, i was happy! and the freebag just lay there, on the way to the hangar... nice
  19. sure, no offense taken... no, i didn´t peel the cutaway handle off the velcro, but i don´t think the hard pull was induced by the velcro. i ripped the handle off the velcro, and THEN came the hard pull on the cutaway handle. on the video it seems to me that both risers don´t come off simultaneously (spelling?). you can see the riser come off and then it seems that after one second i´m in freefall again. thanks for all the "good job staying alive"... it wasn´t that hard...but it was not as easy as i had always imagined it would be.
  20. watch at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaneBnDae_o After an uneventful tandemvideo i pulled at 1000m (3000ft) an immediatly noticed a very "soft" opening shock. i looked up and noticed 2 linetwists, slider was still up. it didn´t take long for the canopy to start spinning. after what i thought were 3 complete turns i decided to cutaway and hung under a good reserve at 400m (1200ft). i kept all my handles (and was really surprised about it!), found my main and freebag on the way to the packing hangar. canopy is a crossfire2 119 loaded @ 1.8 what really happened: 1) i had prepared myself for such a malfunction for a long time and my plan was to give the canopy maximum 3 spins to recover and then to cut away. for me it was very important to have this plan, because without i probably would have wasted precious time trying to recover from the spins. 2) i had learned to do my EP´s with one hand on each handle and that´s how i tried to do it, but i could´nt pull my cutaway handle with just one hand. i´m 1,91m and i weigh 92kg, i do a lot of workout and i would not consider myself weak. i had to waste time and use my 2 hands to pull. i have already ordered hard housings for my riser and i´ve changed my EP drills -> 2 hands for cutaway. 3) after cutting away i had a really hard time to regain a stable belly to earth position. in fact i didn´t and had to pull the reserve in a slight head-down position. it took me 6 to 7 seconds between cutaway and reserve pull. in those 6 seconds i remembered all the incident reports i´ve read, where other skydivers waited too long to pull the reserve and bounced. time and altitude awareness is critical.
  21. yeeeees, my team and i have made some HAHO jumps with GPS with zero visibility over some pretty alpine regions right through some huuuuge cloud-formations... really awesome. these jumps were the most awe-inspiring and memorable jumps i´ve made so far! sorry, no cam, no pics... just sweet memories...
  22. mmkay, sorry. didn´t want to cause you headaches...
