    Bridge Day Photo

    A home made panoramic.
  2. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with that just yet. I edited it specifically for Donks video contest. It's got some of my best new shots. Glad everybody liked it at the event. Donk puts on a great video contest. We'll see what happens with that one after I finish this little bridgeday video. 20 full tapes to edit is no small amount. It was great running into old and new faces this year at B-day. he community Spirit is certainly alive and well. peace out.
  3. Alright, So I'm back from Bridge Day, and the small editing project I have in front of me is well underway. My plan is to have the videos ready to ship by early December. I'd like to thank very much those of you who pre-ordered the video during the event, ya'll saved a fiver on shipping. To those of you who'd still like to get a video, you can log onto my website: www.jimmyhalliday.com and click the paypal button. Believe me, the video will be worth the $35 that we are charging. Good stuff. Peace out.

    ride for bridge day

Speaking of rides from the airport...what's the distance anyway? How lng does it take to get from the airport to the Holiday Inn?
  5. Not sure what you are talking about. I never heard of Jano Gibson until he contacted me to ask about the Steve Irwin jump. He did say something about wanting to write an article depicting the possitive, fun side of BASE jumping. How did he capitalize on Gillian's post?
  6. You've obviously never worked in the circus.
  7. This jump was dedicated to the memory and Spirit of the crocodile hunter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWol41bq2AM Don't worry, we jumped down all the stuff and left not even a footprint, but maybe a couple of fingerprints.
  8. I just put it up on youtube, I added a part to the end when we were drowning our sorrows over losing to a pug, at the bar. But three thousand dollars isn't to shabby, that's why I had no problem picking up a $350 bar tab that night. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiaN5x2dn7k And while you're at it, check this one out to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWol41bq2AM It's a memorial BASE jump tributed to Steve Irwin.
  9. I'm not confused. I realize that the only reason for you to spend as much time as you do as moderator here, uncompensated, is that it allows you to promote your vision of where the sport should go. You know what I mean by that. I wouldn't expect you to be copletely unbiased, what fun for you would that be afterall? But it is my opinion that you go overboard a little bit and if I were co-moderator with you, not only would my perspective balance yours out, but I'd try to show how it could be done less agendafied. The question is, would you still want to do it if you had to share the honor of BASE Zone moderator with a complete jackass like myself?
  10. Tom, I've always thought that you do an exhaustive job as moderator here, and I'm defintiely not saying you should be replaced by me. I'm just saying that it might be good for me to bring another voice in as co-moderator. I said that you are agenda driven, and that is nothing more than personal opinion, not an attack. I think all of us have some sort of agenda for the sport, and we post/act/jump accordingly. I believe my agenda is different from yours; therefore, I think I could add balance in the sense that variety is the spice of life. I do believe that when discussions take place on this forum, you side with those who share your opinion. You're famous for saying "What are you basing that opinion on?" Well, if I must, I'll dig through old posts and get get some examples. But one thing you do for sure is put words in other people's mouths. For instance you just wrote "You may find it amusing that two of the people I've banned the most often are Cornishe and Treejumps..." I don't find it amusing in any way shape or form that you've banned those guys, but by saing that "I may find it ammsing" you've directed readers down that line of thinking. You do subtle things like that all the time to lead debates when you should just be moderating. A moderator is an arbitrator or mediator: a presiding officer, esp. a chairman of a debate. I think the BASE Zone and those who read it, for information and entertainment, or even just to kill time at work or in between jumps would be better served if I were a co-moderator. And to answer your question, I don't know if Tree Jumps or Cornishie share your opinions. I was more talking about in a debate by debate case. You certainly take sides whenever someone shares your specific opions during specific debates.
  11. In all honesty, I think that another moderator here is a great idea. Tom is good, but sometimes he is a little agenda driven, and he clearly lets those who share his opinions get away with so much more than those who don't. I think I would be a great moderator for this forum as I would help create a little balance. I'd try really, really hard to do a good job, so if anyone agrees that I should help Tom moderate this board, let Sangria know.
  12. just the skydiving part where he introduces it and it shows him backing out and then jumping, and maybe the part when we lose...I mean get second place cuz for a minute I throw up big huge "X's"
  13. I'm glad ya'll thought that was pretty funny too. I've been watching America's Funniest Home Videos since it's first episode 17 years ago, and I've always wanted to have a video played on that show. So when I filmed Barry earlier this Spring, what with his whole crying and then jumping later in the day thing, I knew I had a video that would at least get played on the show. However, I had no idea that we would get selected as one of the top three videos of the show. Next thing I know, I got an email from the producers, and Bary, Mike Schechter (the tandem master), and myself are getting flown down to L.A. for a taping of the show. They gave us each $150, $50 dollars each per day for for food, and I spent all $150 the first night drinking down at Hermosa peer, so I was fully hung over during the show. Good times, and even though we lost to a stupid pug dog barking at the TV, I can finally say I shot a video that got on America's Funniest Home videos. Thanks for watching, and hey did it ever get uploaded to Skydiving Movies? -jimmy
  14. Correction: it starts at 7:00 not 7:30. Check it out.
  15. That'll save me the trouble of doing it, thanks. It's definitely worth watching.
  16. Check out America's Funniest Home Vdeos tomorrow (Sunday) on ABC at like 7:30 or 8:00. I sent in a video earlier this year of a tandem student backing out on jump run. It was hilarious, so funny in fact that AFV flew the tandem student, the instructor, and myself down to L.A. for a taping of the show. Our video was selected as a top three finalist. I'm not supposed to tell whether the audience voted our video 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Just check it out, I think it's pretty damned funny. -jimmy

    BASE Rescue #1?

Pete Swan and myself were discussing John Agnos' infamous exploits today at the DZ, and it occured to Pete that John may quite possibly be the first BASE jumper to have been rescued from all four objects. First was his rescue from a building jump gone very wrong in Vegas, then he fell from a cliff in Colorado while trying to access an exit point, then his birthday jump fron an antenna in California, and now most recently from a bridge in Colorado. So, unless anyone knows of another jumper who has been rescued from all four objects before John, we thought it fitting that he receive the number one BASE rescue slot. I hereby nominate John Agnos for BASE Rescue #1.

    John Agnos

A person is judged by the company he keeps; therefore, it is unwise to associate oneself with undesireable characters.

    John Agnos

Do not take this as a defense for my friend John Agnos. But I can definetly say that every site tatooed on his back is still being actively jumped, even that wierd tree looking thing. So if by "burned" you mean unjumpable...then no those tatoos are not of sites he's burned. But if by "burned" you mean places he has made a complete ass of himeself, well, then...

    Omega Fold?

All I can say is that I recently saw a very experienced freefall cinematographer using this method in Norway. I believe he was using it to slow down his openings cuz he was jumping some pretty big cameras. Don't know the details of the pack job or who started doing it first, but it did seem to be effective.
  22. My personal opinion is that these are the natural growing pains of a sport which has established itself world wide as a legitimate athletic/recreational past-time. Everyone just needs to keep jumping and more legal sites will open. I am basing that opinion on the models of other sports, ie snowboarding and skateboarding. The recent BASE extravaganza in Twin was a boon to society and the sport, nothing to apologize for. Another opinion I have is that some jumpers want more reasons to hate on other jumpers. How nice would it feel for some people to be able to say, "I told you you were bad for the bridge."?
