  3. I can tell you, do not bother to call Rucker. The US Military does not Charter its A/C to civilian functions of that nature. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  4. In that case you may be better off working out a deal with a Demo guy who has a few cases and just pay for your share. I would start with the guy who answered your origanal post or try Fastrax. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  5. Naw I am cool with the packing mat, I mean I have hours of that on video. But here in the Bonfire? Oh shoot never mind post on and include pics! Bonfire, what was I thinking! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  7. I am sure this has already been done, but I will throw it out htere any way (makes me fee lgood you know?). Back "in the day" we had to go to "Dash one" school at Bragg and they had a slide show at the Advanced Airborne Dept. Plus the two JM Schools and Pathfinder Schools used to have some stuff on that very subject. Not to mention the archive of stuff the 507th has. Your "in" there is probably the "Silver Wings". 8. Once your a USPA Member again: A "C" License. You'll need to attend a Coach and Instructor Course to be an Instructor now a days as so much time has elapsed. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  9. I am still working on it. This swooping thing is new to me. And of course landing CRW with dedicated CRW canopies is tough. But I tend to stand up the other landings near 100%. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  10. I would go with Chris on the camera from an electronics type store, but the other accessories can be from a company like Para Gear. A gift card or cert from Para Gear, Square 1 etc. would allow him to get the exact stuff he wants and avoid an exchange issues. T-shirt? sure if it is free I would wear it. Just look at my ward robe. 11. Yeah Para Gear is good. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  12. http://www.paragear.com/default.asp You can start there. You could always buy him a block of 5 or 10 Jumps at his DZ, or maybe a gear bag. You'll need to to do a little snooping around, or just be blunt and say; "what do you want?" His second answer will be about skydiving I am sure. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 13. Cullman usually does a New Years Eve night Jump. Send them an e-mail of check the web page. http://www.skydivealabama.com/ Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  14. I think you replied to me as I was the last post. I agree with you, if there is evidence for a charge there is probably evidence for a conviction, I just say we use the courts and get the max. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  15. "The Sigma main closing flap is pretty worthless at staying closed. You know, all I ever hear about that rig is how "safe" it is compared to older designs, blah, blah. I'm thinking that people need to tell the manufacturer about that." They have which is why the magnets are on the newest versions. I have found that with a little care in the packing and closing that the flap will close every time and stay closed till the drogue is set. One can always place the closing pin cover under the top flap as opposed to in the slot on that flap. This will shorten the reach the pin cover has to make and will help to keep the pin covered till the drogue is set. IMO though this and the magnets are just remedies for poor packing and closing, which usually caused by us T-I's yelling at the packers to hurry it up! 16. No, not convicted, but admitted. http://www.witness.co.za/index.php?showcontent&global%5b_id%5d=16685 I say he gets his fair shot in court like any one else, and if convicted, serves what sentence he gets. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  17. If I recal properly, when new at this grip taking thing, using a high grip will keep the fall rate going for the newer jumper. You and I may fly a Mantis type style and have learned to maintain our fall rate, for a new jumper reaching out an inch or two may cause just enough of a body change to either pop up and/or back slide out. It needs not be a real high grip just at the ear level is usually enough. This will also help keep the head up and aides in the eventual transition to a good eye level mantis. Now I defer back to Kirk, since I am way our of my element now! Matt P.S. I could be all wrong here too! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  18. You spelled my name wrong. And have a few facts wrong. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  19. "Lance" is that you? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  20. I am not an engineer, but I am not seeing how having the hips too tight could load this harness to cause the failure. Could it be from wear? Bad batch of thread? Misuse or mishandling causing accelerated wear? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  21. The only reference I have that says not to do this is from Bill Boothe and Marc Procos them selves. When I took the I/E course and we got to the pic in the manuel Marc said "Cross that out" and Bill explianed why. Maybe not Forbiden but highly discouraged. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  22. Has she said yes? NBC was saying she has been asked but is "Still in discussions" about it. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  23. Dude that brings back memories! We used to use the range control phones and have pizza delivered every time we had to work a Night DZSO Party. I bet skymonkeyone, slotperfect and many others have some better stories. but I do remember a few time trying to explian to the 1SG how come we had pizza boxes in the "back haul" after being in the woods for 4 days. (we learned if you feed him, he asked less questions) Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  24. I concur that the policy is out dated. I also think that the policy should allow any one who meets the entrance exams to serve. I am also one of the few who thinks we can get rid of the gender seperation for MOS' as well. If a person meets the standards let them serve where we need them and they want to be. Those who talk of violent retribution, talk about undeciplined individuals acting out, for what ever reason. If the CINC says "This is it, Gays and Lesbians serve openly", then those who are still serving are duty bound to follow that lawful order. If they do not like it they should finish thier time and then once out of the service speak out. I think it needs to be an all or nothing policy and that removing the chance of black mail by stating "No Gays serve or you get kicked out" is the better policy. 25. Typically it is at the slider. This is probably better asked in the swoopers forum and they may already have some pics to look at. A good pic is this months parachutist cover, you can see the slider rings on the risers after the RDS is removed. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
