  1. if you've got a fast enough connection, upload it to my server as it is. people are always asking me for more higher quality videos. I may also be able to make a smaller version. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  2. Yes, I'm just really bored. That's me on my first jump by the way. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  3. Well, i guess i'd have to be 0:0:1. I drank enough to black out for my first time on friday night. Can't remember at least a couple hours of the night. This is also why I didn't make it to cross keys like i had planned on saturday. Oh well. At least i don't remember making an ass of myself and apparently teaching my friends how to skydive. My roommate showed me how i taught him how to pull. He did it correctly, so I guess I did a good job teaching! Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com

    First Time

congrats on your first jump. I'll probably be jumping a bit at CPI this summer since it's the closest DZ to where I'll be living. I'll be working at Sikorsky this summer actually, so maybe I can arrange some blackhawk jumps. yeah right.
  5. As soon as I can get my water training done, I'm eligible for my B license. I was browsing through the SIM today but couldn't find anywhere that says whats on the B license written test. What do I need to study? Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  6. Actually the advice i was given before i bought my canopy was that if i went with F111, go with a 150. if i bought a ZP, go with a 135 because they're designed for higher loadings. I'd only load a 135 at about .96 (or 1.05 with my 12 lb weight vest
  7. I made my first jump on a PD170, then moved up to a PD230 which I have most of my jumps on, then made a couple jumps on a manta 288, and finally bought a PD150 which I have 10 or 11 jumps on now. The sizes went up because I jumped at a few DZs and those were the smallest canopies each had. I had about 14 or so jumps when I used the manta and I really found the lack of control I had kinda scary. The PD230 is like a ferrari compared to it, even loaded at about .6. Whenever I downsize again, I'll probably move down to a 135 or 120 but I'm not planning to do that for a while. I'm having plenty of fun on the 150. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  8. I've got a bev suit. Nylon front and spandex back/arms. Very comfortable. If you fall slow, definitely go with a tight nylon suit. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  9. I came close to buying a genera. I planned to get a black one, but it actually comes in 4 colors. I bought a used reflex instead for the same price. Don't know if that was a good choice or not. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  10. SOUNDS GREAT! The server shall live on! Now lets all just try not to get sued!
  11. This is a must, of course, since Craig owns the URL. THANKS CRAIG! Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  12. Doesn't it look so cute? (See attachment) Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  13. I'll be finding out soon whether or not I can continue running my server the next school year or not. It's not looking likely though. I'll probably be on a DSL connection shared with 4 other people. So, I'm wondering if anyone wants to take over the great server o' videos. AndyMan, you mentioned you might be able to host it on a server at work... how serious were ya? Any college students with fast connections and decent computers (had been running on a pentium2 350 till last week, so it doesnt take much) want to give it a try? The URL (which I don't own myself, by the way) could be switched over to your IP address. You'd need to run an FTP server and a web server, and for the database driven site, a database server too. I can help with getting all that set up. So, if you'll be in a situation to run it, and you like boobies (ok just kidding... i dont get paid in boobies, but maybe i should), let me know. I'll keep ya informed about my status for next year. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  14. if anyone missed it (and has a fast connection), I recorded it. It's ae_behind_closed_doors_1.mpg and ..._2.mpg in the /from tv/ folder. Or just go straight to http://www.skydivingmovies.com/phptest/view_data.php?nme=behind_closed_doors&cat=All&sze=&lng=&desc=&sort=Name&submit=Search. 8 way (or is it 9 way?) RW with a tandem. pretty cool! Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com

    Whoa.

What, did you just find out maryland won the national championship? We've known that for a long time now, and we're all also very excited about it.
  16. Anyone care to name names in the name of safety?

    I'M BACK!

The dreadful 36+ hour upgrade is done and seems to be working! My server went from a Pentium2 350MHz with 192 megs of RAM to an Athlon 1700MHz with 512 megs of RAM. Installing the new motherboard turned out to be a nightmare with problems all along the way but its working now. Happy downloading! Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  19. Hmmm.... don't know why that would happen. Max download rate is set to 100 or 200 K/sec (can't remember what i last left it at), and there are no other "set" limits. I'm guessing there's just some kinda slowdown somewhere between us. When I was gone for spring break, the server ran unattended for over 9 days. The average transfer rate over that time (including any time there were no downloads going) was about 39 K/sec. The only people to push the rate limit are the college students Dave. http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  20. doh, never mind. ran out of day. will be going down tomorrow. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  21. Expect my server to go down tonight. No idea when it'll be back up. I'm installing a new motherboard/processor, so it might take a while. Once it's up and running again though, it'll be much faster, have a lot more memory, and should hopefully be more reliable. Don't know when I'm going to start...lots of work to do tonight... so it could go down any time. Wish me luck! Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  22. My excess legstraps arent long enough to stay secure in the legpads. I s-fold the excess and hold it with the elastic keeper. Guess if I was convinced that this isnt a good idea I could add rubber bands, but I have trouble believing those elastic things arent there specifically to hold the excess legstraps. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  23. Only have about 10 jumps on mine so far but it's been great. Very comfortable (although it's the only rig I've worn other than the student javelins). I have found the "pull force" to be quite a bit higher than I was used to on the student gear, but not uncomfortably high. The pilot chute feels secure in the pouch, but comes out easy enough. I like the cordura pouch because I think it won't wear out as fast as spandex, especially since the rig sits right on the pouch. Haven't had any problems with the rig yet. I don't really see how the pop top could get spun around enough to mess anything up. It doesn't move easily so it's definitely not going to happen by mistake. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  24. Am I the only one that never knew this existed right here on dropzone.com? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/reminders/reminder.cgi?calculator=1. That's so useful! What else should someone have told me about on here? By the way, what's that on Chromeboy's face? (HAHAHA!) Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  25. Well, since nobody else said anything, here goes. Why's the slider sound any different on downwind? Wind direction shouldn't matter... Someone smart back me up here!
