  1. Amen!! We have a winner!! When you know better than to pass out with your shoes on at the DZ. PULL!! or DIE!!
  2. ah ok. Awesome. Thanks!! PULL!! or DIE!!
  3. Hi there, I didn't know if I should post this in suggestions, because maybe there's a way to do it and I just don't know how. Is there a way to set up an e-mail notification for specified gear in the classifieds section? ie, notify me by email when classifieds are posted with key-words 'spectre 170' 'vector' 'sabre' 'mirage g3' etc'? I know you can set up so that you can be notified of replies to your posts. Does that work the same way? If something similar already exists, how do you do it? Aside from posting 'wanted' in the classifieds??? Thanks. PULL!! or DIE!!
  4. Hi guys, Maybe I don't need to weigh in here, but I recently did a tandem checkout as a passenger. Only one tandem, I know, and I'm not a TI or examiner, whatever. I was actually quite concerned about a butt landing beforehand. It turned out fine, thankfully. If I'm not mistaken most T/I's need to do some passenger jumps for ratings, no? I just noticed that I was much lower than my T/I in the harness. Would that mean that I could be taking the brunt of the impact on a landing? Have any T/I's noticed or considered this on landing? I ask because I once fractured my spine on a landing. I know on a tandem, it's controlled, etc. But as a passenger, I would have been less worried about a standup landing, breaking an ankle or getting my face beat up because the T/I fell on me, than I would be about another potential spinal injury, ending up in a wheelchair, or worse. I know that's the risk we take, but broken legs/ankles do heal. PULL!! or DIE!!
  5. What the heck is THAT? I've never even heard of it. PULL!! or DIE!!
  6. This is starting to sound like an intervention. 'Friends don't let friends jump suicidal canopies' Be Safe Steve, That's all I got. PULL!! or DIE!!
  7. That video was really cool. It must have been an amazing event. But I have a question. I've never really seen a flag jump before. How do they work exactly? Do they just pull out the door? Or are the flags wrapped in a canister or something somehow and then unfurled under canopy? Again, Way to go, guys!!! PULL!! or DIE!!
  8. Dirtbeard of the booze Junkies MC PULL!! or DIE!!
  9. You got nuthin' on me, lol. I just got my 'A' back two weeks ago, and I did my 150th jump last weekend. That's what you get with no rig, no money and a MAJOR lack of currency. Congrats on your 'A' though. Now the real fun begins. PULL!! or DIE!!
  10. Hi all, Does anyone know if an Alti-track can be mounted on a chest mount pillow or a mud flap? If so, how can it be done? Thanks. PULL!! or DIE!!
  11. I could have sworn he said it was a CDN Aerosports rig, but I could be mistaken. It was either that or a Sigma. I did ask about using my chest mount, but I was told it was not a good idea. Possibly because it wouldn't fit on the harness, or something else, I'm not sure. Either way, it was extremely weird, and a bit scary, lol. PULL!! or DIE!!
  12. Hi guys, I didn't think this should be in the 'Greets' Forum, only because I'm not a new poster here, nor was it my f**st jump. I did a tandem checkout with a new TI yesterday, and it scared me to death, lol. Everybody was ribbing me the whole ride to altitude; It's the weirdest feeling climbing into that plane with no rig and no helmet on. I'm looking to check handles that aren't there, I'm bugging everybody in the plane to show me an altimeter, meanwhile they're all trying to make it worse, lol. 'That doesn't look right. Are you sure that's how you hook it up???' Once we were out of the plane, it was cake. But it was bizarre. Just hanging there, watching everything happen without being able to do anything. I never thought I was a control freak until now, lol. We landed fine, hug & high five, laughed all the way back to the hangar, but ohhh man, it was weird. Anyone else whose done a checkout on a new TI have a similar experience?? Just wondering :) Blue skies. PULL!! or DIE!!
  13. I'm glad I'm not the only one who caught that. Paid $800 for an hour at SVNH, and we were lucky enough to get a decent deal on coaching and video. But I think they have an intro of like $76 US for 2 minutes of flight, a video debrief(not an actual copy) and a t-shirt. I was gonna say, if you find a tunnel that charges $45 an hour, I'd sell a kidney to get there. Tunnel is great whatever the price is. Not sure if you'd be good to do that BEFORE your AFF. I'd talk to your instructors about that. Good luck!! PULL!! or DIE!!
  14. I think the first one I got when I was a student was 'Chopper'. They counted; 34 spins in 15 seconds, and I STILL pulled at 3, 500. Then I dove out about a minute early on my Solo checkout dive. Landed a mile off the DZ in a cornfield. That one earned me 'Super spotter'. Then 'Flying Tiger after my tunnel trip. My 'tiger claw' hand position, and the fact that I looked like I was angry at the air. PULL!! or DIE!!
  15. Hi guys, I think there are about a million threads about this, but I'm not sure anyone has mentioned this on here before; probably. I took Brian's course last month, bought The Parachute and its Pilot, and I was more than halfway through, in about a week. Then what I was reading started to scare me. I just thought that if I was a little dumber, a little cockier and a bit more aggressive, I would actually start trying things I wasn't ready for. That is really my only quarrel with the book so far. Brian explains it so well, and so thoroughly, that if I wasn't regularly practicing each maneuver outlined in the book, I would think 'Oh yeah, I'll just try a 270 front riser carve like this . . . and' 'WHACK!!' Next thing you know I'm in the Titanium Club. Has anyone else noticed this, and is it something I should be worried about? I REALLY don't wanna get hurt!!!! FYI I'm loading a Sabre 190 at about 0.97 Thanks. PULL!! or DIE!!
  16. Sorry to burst your bubble ;) But I haven't jumped a chest mounted reserve in 6 years. I was actually asking about using one for a water jump that's coming up. But I've been told it's a bad idea, because I'd have un-clip it under canopy etc etc. Not so sure I'd be comfy with that, lol. Anyway, sorry for the tangent, and thanks for the info. Maybe I'll try to PM Brian directly and ask him. PULL!! or DIE!!
  17. Hi guys, I jump a chest mounted altimeter and I recently took Brian Germain's canopy course, in which he suggested that loosening the chest strap improves performance, even if only slightly at my W/L. He showed me a way to rig the altimeter with elastics, so that it would still be visible with a loose chest strap. I can't remember now, exactly how to do it, and I can count the number of jumpers at my club who jump chest mounts, on one hand, myself included. And none of them know exactly how to do it. Can someone just remind me how to wrap the elastics to get it to work? Thanks a bunch!! PULL!! or DIE!!
  18. I used the MIO as well and I found it was reasonably accurate. But I wouldn't recommend it for swimming. After about 6 months in the water, even at 40m WR, the screen fogs up a bit and the numbers start to fade. Other than that, it works great. PULL!! or DIE!!
  19. Guess what? My timing couldn't be better :) Just received the last sig for my 'A'. Finished the Brian Germain Canopy Course. Just started reading an autographed ;) copy of Parachute and it's Pilot, and already, I'm learning a ton of crap I'd never thought of before. I'm also finding myself having A LOT more fun on my most recent jumps, than I've had in a long time. Just feeling great about how things are going, jumping-wise. That is all :) Blue Skies. PULL!! or DIE!!
  20. Has anyone ever considered updating that video? I know the info is still great, but the hair-cuts and the wardrobe are painfully out-dated ;) PULL!! or DIE!!
  21. That's what my S & TA said, lol. He said 'You know what's next, right?' I said 'Um. . . . . . . a lot of fun???' He said 'Yeah, but now you go for your 'B'! Didn't know I'd hafta work through the whole damn alphabet :) It never ends, does it?? lol PULL!! or DIE!!
  22. Yeah Minna, thanks I need more people watching me, about as much as I need a third nipple PULL!! or DIE!!
  23. Why do us newbies always want to do the coolest most rediculous kinds of jumps when we get started? I was the same way. I REALLY wanted to do a jump into my High School prom in my suit and everything. Then I did a class project and wanted to do a jump into the field track behind our school as a part of the presentation. I thought I'd like to do a similar jump to the OP, with my little sister on a tandem. Ah well. Pipe dreams still rock. PULL!! or DIE!!
