  1. 5 inches added to lower steering lines. I fly 24 inch risers and load the canopy anywhere from 2.45 to 2.75 depending on if its a work jump or a competition jump. Cheers, Travis
  2. I wonder if pd is still on their delay or back to business as usual. Cheers, Travis
  3. Shipped midway through this last week and should be here tuesday. It will be seven weeks from ordering to getting to my door. That' really not bad, but just not as screaming fast as your seemed to be. Cheers, Travis
  4. I wasn't implying that. In fact I'm super glad I didn't get a canopy that happened to have subpar materials used in it! Just bummed the process will now be drug out so long. :( Cheers, Travis
  5. Womp womp... guess my canopy that has silver and white in it and was scheduled to complete the first week in May won't be here for a bit! http://performancedesigns.com/fabric_notice.asp Cheers, Travis
  6. I know some of those guys and it would be odd for them to do a jump of this nature without having an appropriate waiver, etc. Although, I've never heard of a waiver for such a jump. Cheers, Travis
  7. Unequivocably, yes! As long as there is an option to waiver a jumper if the DZ management, coaches, S&TA deem it appropriate. I'm convinced that I would not have compression fractures in my spine if wing loading limits were in place because I was jumping a canopy way to small/radical for me when I had about 350 jumps, right in the danger zone. Would I have still turned too low? maybe. But it would have hurt a lot less. I was stupid. Rules can't fix stupid, but they can certainly help. Cheers, Travis
  8. Well...I spoke too soon. Ordered it online on February 20 and still have not been contacted with an invoice to get payment going two weeks later after multiple chats with the servicing department and their promises to get things going. They're eating up their 6-8 week estimated deliver time simply with order processing time! Hope production doesn't run on the same timeline the administrative folks have been the last few weeks. Am I being unreasonable? Cheers, Travis
  9. With 500 HMA, I think 300 jumps is on the low side in a non sandy environment. With your new 500 vectran...I'd expect 600-700 jumps out of them. Cheers, Travis
  10. That's crazy fast. Sealed the deal for me. I'm putting in an order today. Hope mine is as quick...although they're still quoting 6-8 weeks over the phone. Cheers, Travis
  11. I think this is very doable. What other folks don't seem to realize is that the "backpacker lifestyle" is not a high dollar lifestyle. Its a lifestyle that encourages living within your humble means, eating like crap, and bouncing from hostel to hostel or couch to couch. Because of that, even if you're getting a little bit of work here and there...I think your'e in good shape. Experience is key though, as it will be easy to move around when you're more marketable. Cheers, Travis
  12. Much deeper new with the new distance rules. ;) Cheers, Travis
  13. Plus now, if the new FLCPA rules are adopted by UPSA for nationals this year and the FAI sets them as the precedent for world stuff, all of the folks from wintery regions will HAVE to travel to get any training in over a pond. Bummer. Cheers, Travis
  14. I have had two in about 2000 tandems. One was midway down under canopy. The funniest one was a woman who came out with her boyfriend or husband (cant remember) to do a tandem. As the parachute was opening she was super stiff and not saying a word. I asked her how she was and if she was okay. She held her hand up and said "shhhh!" She then finished and told me not to tell her boyfriend who would be waiting on the ground. I'm thinking to myself...believe me, the last thing I'm going to tell your boyfriend is that your girlfriend just O'd while hanging off the front of me. :) Cheers, Travis
  15. Hey Judd, Here's the Comp line chart from PDs website. They've had it up. I also put the trim chart for the regular velo right below it. They are, as everyone has stated so far, the same with a small difference in the steering lines. Anyone who puts a comp lineset on their regular velo...keep me posted. The trim charts say they're the same, but I would like to see the finished lengths and whether or not they truly are the same. Really the only reason I want to put a comp lineset on mine is because they are now selling the orange vectran lines for the comp, but my dealer called and asked if I could order orange vectran lines on my regular velo that I just ordered. THey said they were only offering it on the comp as of right now. So I figured...if theyre the same, I'll just put a season on my HMAs, then replace them with the orange vectran comp lineset at the end of the season. http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/linetrims/VC-071-111-Line-Trim-Chart.pdf http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/linetrims/VE_075-120LT.pdf I don't know how to make them clicky. Cheers, Travis
  16. This is certainly good new for those from FL and CA. Bummer for those from the rest of the country who will just be coming off a 6 month hiatus from winter and who've had little time to train. Cheers, Travis
  17. June 13-17? I was surprised to see nationals so early. Is this correct? Cheers, Travis
  18. I've never noticed that after numerous velo relines and various velos from over the years. Openings and flight characteristics could certainly change just from having fresh lines. HMA can still go slightly out of trim. The velocity linetrim chart on the PD website is dated from 2007 and the comp linetrim chart is from 2009 and they show the suspension lines as being identical in dimension. Cheers, Travis
  19. Correct. The only two differences I see on the trim charts (lets just say on the 79 since that's what I fly) is the C stabilizer slack and the brake stow to the toggle length. So unless PD is manufacturing something different than what their trim charts show (which would foolish if someone ever need to to replace lines based on the trim chart) the lineset is essentially the same for both. Cheers, Travis
  20. Well, it sounds like they are only offering the lines on comp velos right now after having my dealer chat with the factory. I'm guessing this is mostly a marketing thing so as to make the comp velo more attractive to buyers. I was thinking of just buying a field replaceable set of 500s, but I'd probably have to put a "comp" lineset on my regular velo. According to the trim charts on the PD website, however, the linesets between the two canopies are exactly the same. http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/linetrims/VE_075-120LT.pdf http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/linetrims/VC-071-111-Line-Trim-Chart.pdf Cheers, Travis
  21. So are these vectran in the 500 stregnth that they are also selling the exact same vectran as their normal 500 vectran, but they have the orange coating? They say the 300 vectran is thinner or about the same as 300 hma they sell, which I believe (as I've seen both). What I am wondering is if the orange vectran is thinner than their regular vectran. If its the same line, but has a coating, I would argue that the vetran in the 500 tensile strength would be larger diameter than its 500 hma counterpart. Curious if you know. I just ordered a new velo with 500 hma and would love to switch to orange vectran if it is a different line type than their normal 500 vectran. Cheers, Travis
  22. The AAD DOM, serial number, and model are all required to be on the packing data card. If it is not, your last rigger didn't do their full job but still got paid for it. It should also state when the cutter was replaced (unless the cutter was replaced when it was in another rig). Cheers, Travis
  23. Thinking of you bro. Cheers, Travis
  24. Depending on where you're at, Longmont would probably be the closest. I live in Fort Collins and jump at Mile Hi in Longmont. Check us out for recurrency. Cheers, Travis
