    WFFC 2002

No, my monitor is working. Fortunately, I've been very busy lately. I'm also wondering if anyone would potentially want to fly up instead of driving. The Dutchboy Phil's Flying Enterprises, Inc.

    WFFC 2002

Who is planning on going to WFFC this year in Rantoul? Anyone from the Southeast going? It is less than 4 hours each way, even in a little Cessna 172. Now if I could just get Doug to loan my that Cessna 206.
  3. DZ's open 4 days a week during the winter, with a turbine Porter 3 of those days. The Dutchboy Phil's Flying Enterprises, Inc.
  4. I only made one jump there at Summerfest last year. Mostly because it was just too hot, but to be honest it was more than that. I didn't feel like anyone was looking out for my well being. I remember a chick who seemed to have a broken wrist coming into the rigging loft with her gear, and then going back out to look for her freebag and main because nobody else would do it. Contrast this with Quincy, where the safety people were in the corn looking for my freebag before I could even get out there. I'm not trying to bash the place. I know there are some good people there. It was just a feeling that I and my traveling partners all seemed to have. The Dutchboy Phil's Flying Enterprises, Inc.
  5. Well, the Dutchboy is already getting requests for me to fly some folks up from Atlanta. So I would rate our chances as pretty good. This year I can go IFR, which would have made last year easier. The Dutchboy Phil's Flying Enterprises, Inc.
  6. 28% of all accidents occur during takeoff 32% occur during landings 40% occur enroute By skydiving you have increased your odds by limiting yourself to the 28% of accidents on landing. Just remember that flying is safer than driving. You are more likely to get killed on your way to the DZ than on the plane ride to altitude. The Dutchboy Phil's Flying Enterprises, Inc.

    Head Cold?

Don't do it. I've jumped with only a minor cold before, and I was still paying for it days later. The Dutchboy Phil's Flying Enterprises, Inc.
  8. The Dutchboy is very married (over 11 years) and is always looking out for the wellbeing of his fellow jumpers. The Dutchboy Phil's Flying Enterprises, Inc.
  9. It's all about the people who are there, and not about the planes, etc. Now Atlanta Air Sportz does have a sweet turbine Porter that will get you to 15k in 10 minutes with a 6 foot wide door. They usually have some awesome food Friday and/or Saturday nights. Lots of camping space on their isolated end of the airport at the end of a closed runway. Plenty of beer in the fridge. It really is the other jumpers and the DZO's that make the place though. What really makes the place is one of their jump pilots who is also a skydiver, 6'3" 195 lbs. of pure man........
  10. We fear what we do not understand. That is why most pilots would never skydive. I think that a flight lesson or two might help you feel more comfortable. It also sounds like your pilots are ignoring some of the most important rules of flying - keep the passengers comfortable. Perhaps they figure since you are all skydivers you are crazy, and not entitled to a smooth ride. If you want to try some flight training, then drop me a note. I think a little time in a Cessna 172 will make you feel much better. You can't scare me flying the plane - I fly with Clay!
  11. If you are coming through Georgia, you owe it to yourself to stop at Atlanta Air Sportz. But be warned, others have intended to just stop by and ended up spending the whole weekend there. The Dutchboy Phil's Flying, Inc.
  12. Cool, now you just need to get working on your PPSEL license! You wouldn't want anyone else to get there before you would you? I know this brother and sister who both took lessons. He started way before her, she has been a licensed pilot for several months and he still isn't finished. Now the poor guy can't get dates.... 13. ?:2:0 I don't really keep track of the first number. I did make two jumps from the Porter yesterday, both were sits. The first just a 2-way, and the second a 5-way (at least that was the plan). The winds were howling too badly for my student pilot, but the winds were below 20 knots up in Rome, so I got in a couple of jumps. The Dutchboy CFI, CFII, AGI, IGI http://www.philsflying.com
  14. I also have a Freedom Means Choice suit. I'm quite happy with it. The Dutchboy CFI, CFII, AGI, IGI http://www.philsflying.com
  15. Wow, where did you get that price? I was happy to get mine for < $900. Of course, that was over a year ago. As a side note, I love my Hornet 190. I have about 130 jumps on it now. The Dutchboy CFI, CFII, AGI, IGI http://www.philsflying.com
  16. Perhaps Clay owes some beer. As an official dz.com member I could receive the beer on the behalf of the group before our next flight together. I think Clay will also owe beer soon for getting his Private Pilot license. The Dutchboy CFI, CFII, AGI, IGI http://www.philsflying.com

    Favorite DZ?

The Irish Parachute Club was lots of fun. I only got in one jump, but the people were great. I really like Atlanta Airsportz. They aren't the biggest (yet), but the people there really make the DZ. I am not the only one who will go there just to hang out some times even when I can't jump. 18. If there was truly no hidden agenda then they would send out extremely specific proxies. They are also not prevented from having you send a proxy for someone who has agreed to vote a certain way. The attempt to blackmail USPA members by saying "if you don't send it in now we'll have to waste more of your money on further requests" is also BS. If you send in this proxy you have no guarantee that what they do won't be far worse than what we have now. The Dutchboy CFI, CFII, AGI, IGI http://www.philsflying.com
  19. I've flown in the tunnel at Pigeon Forge a couple of times. It is much harder than real freefall, because you don't have as much wind, and you can fall off the edge very easily. It does make you keep on top of things though, and it can help with your body awareness. I've not made it to Skyventure yet. If you are close to Vegas then it might be worth it to spend some time in their tunnel, even if it isn't the best available in the world. The Dutchboy CFI, CFII, AGI, IGI http://www.philsflying.com
  20. I went there once while visiting some good friends in Rochester. I did a jump and my friend did a tandem. He had to make a copy of the video because his kids were wearing it out! The people there were very friendly. We also managed to jump before the small children (1 & 2) got too crazy from being out so long. Come to think of it, I jumped there in August right after Quincy and made the 2nd jump after my cutaway at Quincy. The Dutchboy CFI, CFII, AGI, IGI http://www.philsflying.com

    Dove

Get well soon oh lovely white-feathered one. Just don't become Clay and give yourself carpal tunnel.
  22. When I went to China a year and a half ago, I did lots of research to find a DZ we could go to. I came up with nothing. Some of my Chinese friends have jumped here, because they can't jump back there. I think you have to be in the military to skydive in China. If you do find anything, let me know in case I ever get to go back. BTW, where are you going in China? The Dutchboy CFI, CFII, AGI, IGI http://www.philsflying.com
  23. hmm.... if it's getting that bad you can always go to http://www.pilotfinance.com BTW, my goddaughter is turning 3 on Saturday, so I won't be available for instructing Saturday or Sunday. The Dutchboy CFI, CFII, AGI, IGI http://www.philsflying.com
  24. Well I spent last Saturday doing a couple of kick ass jumps at Atlanta Airsportz in the morning and then I gave somebody their first flying lesson. After that I went to Dave & Buster's for a couple of hours. We had over $100 in free game cards for D&B. I used to have this other student named Clay, but I haven't seen him in weeks. He's close to finishing up his license too. Wonder if I'll ever see him again. Now I've even got a permanently-based and cheaper aircraft too.
