  1. Well PJ at the risk of being banned I will say there seems to be nothing peaceful about you. It seems to be "my way or the highway." If you could learn to state your responses in PG language you might have a chance but the epithet-laden tirades you generally indulge in undermine your credibility. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  2. Note to self, must get divorced in order to fill all of these wonderful options. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  3. Sorry, higher class people but same pay check. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  4. Post Exchange, not Postal as in army post. In the Air Force it is BX for Base Exchange. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  5. I understand and agree with the generalization but disagree with this statement. Experience that teaches you caution comes from a lot of things. I'm 46 years old, < 50 jumps but understand that this is a dangerous sport. I do not know all the places danger can come from but I know they are their. Was this stunt cool, yeah, was it nuts, yeah, but I think the same thing about ski jumping and you would never get me to do that. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  6. Thanks for confirming that the US way of life is the only one worth living. Go GWB and the right wing Christians that back him. Oh wait you thing religion is the scourge of the planet so you can't like them either. Damn PJ who gets to make the decisions about what is right and wrong in the world? Oh I get it, you do! "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  7. Given the total picture before the fact of his running away what the judge did was dumb. However it sounds like you are saying that if the cops charge someone it pretty much means they are guilty which is far from true. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  8. Shit, I have screwed up again! "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  9. Thankfully our local HD has plenty of carts but I have sure been in the hunt for them in other HD's. I think they should be banned because they suck to much money out of my wallet everytime I go in. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  10. So? Not sure that it is an obligation but I do believe in opposing laws that are wrong. BTW who gets to decide which ones are wrong? No argument but if you are breaking the law and you are are punished you really can't whine about it. Acts of civil disobedience happen all over the place all of the time and some I am sure you agree with, say people knowingly breaking laws about gun ownership that you oppose. In those cases you applaud the people as they are carted off to jail. In other cases, say people smoking pot in front of the White House (I have no idea what your opinion of marijuana laws are so this is just an example) you may believe them to be ignorant bastards and applaud them being hauled off to jail. I think the woman mentioned above was treated very badly and I don't think she was practicing anything as noble as civil disobedience. What I do think is that under the laws of her country she was doing something "wrong" and she was punished. Something, that if the article is correct, she clearly new was "wrong." Now if in the opinion of the United States she was being treated inhumanely and being oppressed by her government in ways we don't agree with, well then maybe we should invade in order to liberate her. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  11. I am saying that apparently she broke the law of the land and even though you and I may not agree with the law she violated it and was punished. Seems that according to the article this is just what the current unrest in Sudan is all about. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  12. Look it, I don't like MS either but my nearly 20 years in IT tells me that all OSes have holes. The people who attack the holes in Windows do it for fun and to create the biggest mess they can. Sending out worms to attack Mac's or Linux doesn't get the press that attacking Windows does. Now could MS do a better job of plugging the holes, hell yes, but they would still be the prime target. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  13. Sorry but the reason MS is the prime target is because they are the most popular OS. In the off chance App;e should take that slot they will become the big target. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  14. In my not so humble opinion, yes. The Republican definition of patriotic is our government, right or wrong. I think others have a more "liberal" definition. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  15. What about Tunas? TERRIFIED of Tunas! Very smart girl. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  16. Well this is outside of skydiving because I wasn't doing it when I lived in Europe but I will say that when I was there (20 years ago) Brits were cool but a little formal. Germans were very formal but a clean country and very few places I was not willing to go to even in the middle of the night. However don't expect and organized lift line on the ski slopes. Austrians were some of the best people on the planet. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  17. Give me a break. After reading the words above. Two songs BTW, one Bruce and one Woody Gurthrie, how can you say either is "patriotic" in the Republican sense of the word? I happen to agree with the sentiment in each song and think they are patriotic in that they point out problems in our society but pointing out problems in our society is not usually considered patriotic by those on the right. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  18. I can't find a quote because I can't remember enough details but within the last 12 months a middle eastern or african man was arrested for child molestation in the US because he kissed his son's penis at some significant event. The action was considered normal in his up-bringing but child molestation here. Sorry but if you want to live in the culture you need to follow the rules. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  19. Some amazing things, some stupid things, some things that don't come under the rules of "our way of life." "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  20. Depends on your definition of patriotic. Born In The U.S.A. Lyrics by Bruce Springsteen Born down in a dead man's town The first kick I took was when I hit the ground You end up like a dog that's been beat too much 'Til you spend half your life just covering up [chorus:] Born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. I got in a little hometown jam And so they put a rifle in my hands Sent me off to Vietnam To go and kill the yellow man [chorus] Come back home to the refinery Hiring man says "Son if it was up to me" I go down to see the V.A. man He said "Son don't you understand" [chorus] I had a buddy at Khe Sahn Fighting off the Viet Cong They're still there, he's all gone He had a little girl in Saigon I got a picture of him in her arms Down in the shadow of the penitentiary Out by the gas fires of the refinery I'm ten years down the road Nowhere to run, ain't got nowhere to go I'm a long gone Daddy in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. I'm a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. And while we are at it about patriotic songs. THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND words and music by Woody Guthrie Chorus: This land is your land, this land is my land From California, to the New York Island From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters This land was made for you and me As I was walking a ribbon of highway I saw above me an endless skyway I saw below me a golden valley This land was made for you and me Chorus I've roamed and rambled and I've followed my footsteps To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts And all around me a voice was sounding This land was made for you and me Chorus The sun comes shining as I was strolling The wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling The fog was lifting a voice come chanting This land was made for you and me Chorus As I was walkin' - I saw a sign there And that sign said - no tress passin' But on the other side .... it didn't say nothin! Now that side was made for you and me! Chorus In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple Near the relief office - I see my people And some are grumblin' and some are wonderin' If this land's still made for you and me. Chorus (2x) "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  21. What about GHWB eating tamales without removing the corn husk? What a Texan! "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  22. Tough to prove it is where the problem is. Lets say you go to your Dr. and the doc says you have a fatal diesease but certain lifestyle changes can reduce or eliminate the impact. Being a good medical consumer you go to another Dr. who says. No problem, just normal life changes. Now confused you seek a third opinion. This one says you might have a disease or it might be normal but the suggested lifestyle changes are good for you anyway so why not implement them? If the global warming believers are right we need to make changes. If they are wrong dumping less crap in to the environment is good for us anyway so why not make the changes? Oh I know "It is expensive and will cost jobs." How about "it will stimulate the economy and create jobs in new sectors?" "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  23. I don't wear undershorts. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  24. Not a whole lot of difference. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  25. Cap it at two kids then. I may be liberal but I am not a bleeding heart liberal. You are right that there are a lot of things that could be on the list. My list has two things on it. Could you convince me to add more, maybe but it would still be simpler than what we have. Real loophole plugging, as you elude to above, is far more important than any of the rest of this. I did some digging yesterday and it looks to me like the total income of US households is only about twice the federal budget so money is coming from other sources than our pockets. Or at least directly from our pockets. I realize that individuals pay all taxes either directly to the govt. or indirectly in prices we pay for goods and services. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
