  1. Yea! I'm leaving this place and going to the UK for a week. It's kind of a vacation and I want to get a few jumps in. Need your help. Here are the details: I have a USPA B license I only have 90 jumps I have my own gear w/cypres2 My wing load is 1:1 And most of all i'm fun to jump with I will be in Cornwall June 21-26 Thanks for the help. Blue Skies Airborne!
  2. As you can see from my number of jumps I am a FNG in this sport of GODs. One day at the DZ while coming in for a landing I made a 180 degree turn at about 800ft. I had about 45 jumps at the time. I didn't think the turn was too low but a camera flyer at the DZ was above me and thought so. When he caught up to me in the hanger he let me know what he thought. He called me LT for low turn and told me that he thought my turn was too low. He didn't stop there, he asked me if I knew what a flat turn was. I told him I did but he asked me to demonstrate one for him. I felt a little embarrassed because I had a friend at the DZ with me and he was listening to me sort of getting my ass chewed. But I don't have thin skin and I did what this concerned Camera flyer wanted. He then took 15 minutes of his time and pulled me to the side and showed me how to flat turn. He also explained to me why it was so important to know how to flat turn correctly and why I should practice it. He told me to do it a few times as he watched. This guy just took it upon himself because he was concerned about my safety. He didn't really know me. We talked a couple of times but thats about it. He showed me much love. That is something I will never forget. Thanks Estillo! Here is my 2 cents, for what its worth. I think we can all take the time to tell another jumper what they are doing is not safe! If skydivers at the DZ take interest in what everyone else is doing and not be shy about telling someone that they are taking unnecessary risks that could hurt them and the sport it would help us all. Help what? Help set up an atmosphere of safety and responsibility for each other as a family. Maybe the person that is taking that chance feels that it's their life and they can shoulder the responsibility or the consequences for what they are doing. But we all must be reminded from time to time that in this sport the actions of ONE could hurt us all. Reading about safety in some magazine, the paper or on DZ.com is fine. But that doesn't mean as much as one of your friends or someone at your DZ that you see every weekend telling you about safety. No one wants to let the team down. And when it comes down to it thats what we are, ONE BIG TEAM a FAMILY separated only by distance. I would rather loose a friend by telling them straight out that they are dangerous and should think safety first, than loose them in an accident that could have been avoided. I'm sure everyone feels the same way. So lets say it. Thats my 2 cents for what it's worth J.R. Airborne!

  6. Skypup had a good poll about forgetting your hook knife. It got me to thinking. I am new to the sport (82 jumps) and my DZ is great. The instructors are world class and we have jumpers from all over that now call my DZ home (My DZ, thats funny). I was never told anything good or bad about a hook knife. I see some jumpers with them and some without. I never really thought of asking before now. But what do you all think? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Airborne!

  9. I jumped in the Army first then did AFF. I think that was the best for me. I am new and have 79 Jumps so far since July 03. As you can see I'm hooked and It's nothing like the Airborne. I say AFF 1 all the way! PS. I just couldn't stand having to tell my Army buds that my first civilian jump was with a big hairy guy strapped to my ASS holding my hand . They would NEVER let me live that down. I can hear the jokes in the barracks now. Airborne!

  13. Well, After working the highways in the great state of Texas for a while it just stuck with me. Most truckers don't know that we have CB radios in our patrol cars. When they see me sitting there they call down the road and tell their friends that they got a Black Bear in the road. I think its funny as hell. Airborne!

  21. All of you that use credit cards to buy gear and other skydiving equipment are childish and irresponsible. You should all grow up and be more responsible! I would never have a problem like credit card debt for something as unimportant as fun gear. I have 3 kids and a wife to think about. Your all crazy!!! WHAT I do is....... Use my PAY CHECK to buy the gear I want..... You credit hounds ever think of that? Then..... I use my CREDIT CARDS to pay for Mortgage, food, electric, gas, insurance, phone bill, cable bill and important stuff like that. You guys have got to get your priorities straight and spending habits under control like me. Airborne!
  22. I'm in Rockwall (East of Dallas) anyone know where that is? Well its Snowing here too.
  23. Can't argue with that. I have three Kids in school 2nd, 9th and 12th grade. Sometimes I would have to correct the teachers notes and send them back. I moved and this school is much better. Teachers just don't get paid enough. Airborne!
