  1. No. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  2. Bad form to open a container on a plane. However, with appropriate safety measures taking a PC out of a pouch and testing it and then repacking the PC is acceptable…IMHO. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  3. A Student Cypres does need to be turned off riding a plane down. An Expert Cypres does not...although it dosen't hurt anything. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  4. Okay the only skydiving and golf related joke I know... How are skydivers and golfers similar? Golfers go "WACK....shit" and skydivers go "SHIT...WACK!" "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  5. When I had less than about 200 jumps and I either had a bad jump or saw an incident of some sort I kind of forced myself to jump again to help mitigate the fear that inevitable occurs. Now with a bit more experience it doesn’t matter either way. Bad stuff happens, I know that, if I have another jump to do I’ll do it. If I was going to be done for the day anyway then I’m done - it doesn’t matter too much what happened on the prior jump. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  6. because SKYDIVERS don't sue Haa, haa... Oh, my sides are hurting... good one! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  7. Hmm, why would a DZ NOT have a waiver? "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  8. It's not the same as a farting game in an Otter. In an Otter it's just good clean fun. But in an office elevator apparently it's just not funny...much to my chagrin! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  9. Both hard pulls and directly to reserve... "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  10. Okay, I've got a friend at my DZ that has 2 reserve rides and no cutaways in 100 jumps. I'm not creative enough to think up a good nick name but there's gotta be one there somewhere! Any ideas? "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  11. The majority of US mid-sized DZ’s need students and up-jumpers to function properly. There is money in flying up-jumpers; they have a lower margin but higher quantity of jumps. Students have a higher margin but lower quantity. Both contribute to the financial health of a DZ. Many students, be they tandems or AFF, come in due to up-jumpers “marketing” for the DZ. The excitement of lots of up-jumpers having fun on a weekend encourages students to work toward getting their license instead of doing one tandems or AFF jump. I’ve heard it said that the up-jumpers typically pay for the airplanes and the students the staff and facilities. Personally, I’d say that both groups contribute in different ways to the financial health of a typical DZ. Are there exceptions? Well sure, due to a variety of conditions some DZ have a different model but I’d venture to say the majority of turbine DZ’s need both constituencies to be successful. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  12. Well, the SIM says that a main must be repacked every 120 days just like a reserve. Hmmm, maybe there's a reason for that! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  13. I'm glad you enjoyed it! I played hooky from work that day and jumped with Conrad, John and Janet too! I wish I would have known you were there we could have done a couple of jumps. It's always nice to welcome traveling skydivers to the DZ. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  14. "Kornelsen decided to take advantage of the strong winds" Um, I know nothing about a powered parachute but does this sound right to anyone? "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  15. Work does suck! Let's skydive! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  16. Good luck with that! Oh, I'm sorry I didn't know these forums were the Bonfire 2, 3, 4 and so on. Basically it would be nice if a few around here would stop swinging their dicks around to see whose is bigger and badder and instead try sticking to the topic and TALK ABOUT SKYDIVING!!! A lot of this thread has been skydivers getting all butt hurt that some idiot has made generalizations about who is the better canopy pilot based on their flying discipline, who knows how to setup better in the door based on the their flying discipline, blah, blah, blah. Topic is pushing jumpers out the door. Do you have anything to offer on the topic? LOL, dude you need to take a deep breath and maybe practice some mediation. Virtually every single thread turns into a nonsensical pissing match. Complaining about it won’t help in the least; it will just aggravate the situation and get your blood pressure up. Did you see the smiley on the end of my post? It was obvious humor. What do I have to contribute to this topic? - pushing people out of airplane = bad idea. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  17. Good luck with that! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  18. Well skydiving is not safe, but it IS safer than the average person thinks! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  19. So Ron which one was funny? Be pushed or pushing? "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  20. Getting a reserve out “very low” is a failure not a success. It could have been a worse failure, obviously. My concern with un-current jumpers is not around their flying skills but instead is around EP’s. This is particularly true for unusual situation/malfunctions. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ You missed a point. My EP's were fine. Yep which as pointed out to me... And responded to... "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  21. Hey I had a brand new rig assembled last week. We had 10" of rainfall at the DZ this past weekend. So the Gods were obviously being capricious. It sucks almost as much as a pretty weather day and no airplanes! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  22. Problem solved! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  23. Yeah, it's not a fair comparison. Chef Mike whips up such great feasts! How many DZ’s have home made tzatziki sauce to go on the lamb gyros during Greek week? How about the Pecan Crusted Dijon Tilapia?
  24. Okay, I really, really like Spaceland but I don't think anyone can say the foods always been great! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  25. LOL! Man where is my mind! "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
