  1. hook it. some packers are vertically challenged and have built a hook stand for tandem rigs. this way you hook the lines at the canopy, do your checks, folds and raps. lay it down and put it in the bag. walaa. done. better than flat packing because you won't have to crawl around on the polished floors you will find at most dz's. if you have any nurse or doctor friends, have them bring home an IV drip stand with wheels.hope this helps
  2. and i agree. i jumped there for many years. they only have the king air now. greg didn't want up jumpers during the week unless enough to fill the king air. i spoke to both patti and greg. i brought up the policy on dropzone. if anything is discussed without mentioning that they are the best dzo in the entire country, they take it personnel. it was their policy.
  3. I'll take my business to hollister. maybe they have changed their policy. tandems first. i was not let on a tandem load in a C-206. the C-206 was for tandems only. so after a 2 hour drive, i watched the plane leave with 1 tandem aboard. that was their policy. just the facts.
  4. why do you need insurance before you jump? does holliister require insurance to jump. don't think so. you need ins for major medical. policies have so many loopholes in them, you end up paying for most things. if you don't have much, CMSP, will cover any major problems. in california, fill out the paperwork when you enter the hospital,if your pull arm isn't broken, and you might qualify. VA clinics in the bay area should also help. hope this helps. tom
  5. if you are thinking of replacing your paper licences, it's best to do it sooner than later. right now, it 2 bucks. it could go up to 25 bucks a ticket if the admin gets it way and raises the fees.
  6. if you've flown a stiletto 150, why not stay with it. dacron 525 lines and a larger slider. give it a try, if you haven't sold it.
  7. lisa, glad to hear of the return boogie. did you know that the 16th is airport day. lot of traffic and maybe a possible closure for aerobatics. is the pac going to arrive the night of the 15th. would'nt mind doing a sunset load the night before. Tom
  8. i was assemblying a canopy the other day and had to fingertrap the toggles. i use fine wire as pictured and after assembly, could'nt find the wire. found it in the carpet behind me. next time, when done, it goes back in my box. not supporting mistakes, but fine wire can sometimes be hard to spot.
  9. at 56, i have osteoporosis, L2 thru L5 are almost gone.stenosis constant back pain. if i stress my back on day one, i take 3 days to feel better. i usually try to jump once a week. one jump. pack at home later. I'm blind in one eye. is it worth it? you bet. when that door opens, i'm flying. starting out, you can expect mistakes that could put a load on you back. like flaring high there are canopies that open soft. get with your doctor and talk to some old guys at the DZ. good luck
  10. at the world team record, airtec had their reps with cypres 2's flown in and were helping in the installation within hours of learning of the trouble. now how that for customer support?
  11. fold over once.sew. I've done this on my older jav with 1" webbing. when in doubt, call sunpath. their service dept is first class and no doubt will be able to answer.
  12. have a rigger fold over the end and sew it. done.
  13. yes, they are a group member. SMB's new policy as of this moment is no upjumpers will be allowed on the cessna 206. upjumpers are allowed on the king air. cost of operation and not making enough money from upjumpers is the reason behind their change. contact the dzo to express your concerns.
  14. there was a slot available. I was told by greg that it cost 25 bucks to take an upjumper to 10 grand. I indicated i was willing to do a hop and pop. no deal. tandems only. the aircraft left with space available. end of story. he said come back tomorrow. weekends only
  15. no. most times they only have enough to fill a cessna. again, if the cessna flys, no upjumpers allowed.
