    heli boogie '07

Hi all. On behalf of Stavanger B.A.S.E klubb, I will thank everybody who came to the heliboogie 07. Here is some numbers for you. We made about 1000 jumps in 4 days. No serious injuries, but we had a couple of close calls. The worst was the cliff strike in free fall , but he made it without any serious injury . I think the worst injury we had was 4 stiches in the forehead after hitting a rock during landing . The weather was the best ever, and the party saturday was also the best ever Stay safe Regards SBK Stein

  10. Hi Rick, met your brother and Rick P. last year. Hope to see you both this year then.
  11. Finally we got the permit to use a helicopter to fly basejumpers from all over the world to the top of the famous cliff Kjerag in Lysebotn. For more info.www.basekjerag.com Stein
  12. The last ferry leaves 2:20 pm from Lauvik. From the airport to Lauvik with a taxi takes about 60 minutes, it will be expensive but less expensive than stay the night in Stavanger to the next morning. the cost will be around 600 NOK (100 usd). If there is several jumpers to split the cost, it wont be that bad. See you soon Stein

    Heliboogie 2005

Good news!! Had a phone call with the government and they promised us permit to fly. We have now opened the registry. You will find detailed info at our website www.basekjerag.com Stein
  18. Hi everybody I got a mail from the authorities yesterday where they say: " The case is still under hearing, it is certain fundamental principle to clear before we can give you a written approval. Most likely you will get a permission on stated circumstances. You can make plans from that but take necessary reservation’s. We will be back with to you first week after Easter holidays" This is what we have to work with so far. I’m not happy to open the register with these terms. But I will have a meeting with the SBK board to day on this matter. To me it looks like 80 % chance that the boogie will be approved, so you have to decide whether you will wait until after Easter to make reservations or not. I’m sorry that we can’t give you a better answer at the time, hope you understand our situation on this case. Stein :-)
  19. At this time we have some problems to get approval for use of helicopter in kjerag from the government. We are expecting answer soon (two weeks?) As soon we have the answer we will announce the boogie on all the main websites with details, the dates we are planning to use helicopter is for 4 days from 16. of june throug 19. of june. We will not start any registering until we have the approval on the table. I`m sorry that we cant give you any clear answer before we have the approval. When we open the register we will secure slots for the numbers of jumper we allowed to join the boogie. the only thing you need to do is to send us a e-mail to confirm you will arrive, and you will get a answer back that you have a secured slot. when the helicopter is flying we have had jumpers to do 10 jumps in one day. The helicopter will fly as long we have weather to jump and fly in. With more than 70 jumpers we will have two helicopters to fly to reduce the waiting time. We dont have anything to do with accommodation, so you must reservate accommodation throug the campground. Hope these answers will help you out until further. Regards Stein Edvardsen

    Accident in China

After one of the longest, saddest flights I ever had I’m back home in Norway. Reading all the condolences make me cry and thinking of his families, I’m so sorry for what happened and have no words for it. I’m feeling so helpless in this situation, as an organizer I keep thinking, “ is there anything we could do different to prevent this accident ” I hope to find an answer so we at least can make it safer for the future. Slims accident is a reminder that it can happen to even the best jumpers, so please be careful out there everyone. My deepest condolences to Slims wife, family and friends. Stein
  21. I must say that it is amazing how much crap we get here. I just want to tell how a few things realy are. Drug ride: The police contacted me and told me that they may would show up during the weekend, I did tell a couple of the jumpers in Lysebotn so they could spread the word. This is the first time they have had a drug ride in Lysebotn. And what they did find was a small amount of hasj. 4 people got a find, 1 non jumper and 3 jumpers. Business: Everything cost money. We have boats to bring you back from the landing are the boats is also for people who lands in the water, SAFETY! I don’t have the numbers of how many people we have rescued from the water, but it is not few. Car to bring people up to the start of the trail is also an expensive unit we have. The shop cost a lot, nothing is for free. After 10 years of experience in kjerag, where 8 jumpers ended their lives, we have learned a lot how to try to prevent these fatalities and I’m sure we have saved many lives by the work we do here. The latest we have got is the “Pendulator” who have reduced bad exits on the students by 80 %, SAFETY! We do work for safety!! If anyone believes we are getting rich in Lysebotn. Here is some facts for this year. 4 of us in Stavanger BASE klubb have paid from our own pockets 11.000 USD each, of course we expect to get the money back in a 3-5 years period of time. We have 1000-1500 hours of work to get the new boat ready, removed some boulders on the landing area where people have been badly hurt and remodelling the shop. Last year we made the bridge on the top where we had some injuries from jumpers going through the snow bridge, all this to benefit jumpers. One third of the reg. fee is going to the rescue foundation. The other monye are going to replace items in the first aid cit, ice packs and administration. Fore those who think this sucks, you don’t have to travel to kjerag for making basejumps, the world is full of places to jump. For those who think this is ok, I will thank you for your support and of course everybody are always welcome to kjerag to make long delays and safe basejumps. Best regards Stein www.basekjerag.com
  22. Hi everyone who went to the heliboogie I will thank you all for being patient about the weather we had, it was hard to get control of it
  23. I know one who got saved by his rig. He was walking on the edge of some high cliffs to find his exit point. Suddenly the ground gave after and he was in free fall. He trow the PC and got away from it without any scratches. Guess he was lucky and happy when he landed. What a rush it must have been. Stein
