Even if your profile is correct with 55 jumps, I don't think you will have any problems with a balloon jump as long as there is a good LZ and/or lots of good outs. I DO think you should stick to a regular exit though (not the swing). I have done several, most of them falling off backwards with a camera. My N3 (as well as my N2) don't accurately record deployment altitude, they record the attitude I'm in the saddle. I got a little bit of a chewing by a few people claiming I MUST have busted 2k before I activated, I had VIDEO SHOWING MY ALTITUDE (pointed at my altimeter) at deployment, and they didn't accept that. I trust it over their eyeballs on the ground. Understood, but if there is a "trouble child" on the DZ, an altitude recording device would be enough proof for a DZO to take action. It's simple, really. I ran a DZ and I had no problem saying "well little Johnny, your (name your device here) says you "deployed" at 1,500 feet. Now that may mean you pitched at 2,100 or it may mean you pitched at 1,900. Either way, if I see your "deployment altitude" as 1,500 feet again, you're grounded." Case closed. Due process never existed on my DZ where jackwads were concerned. Guess I would constantly be in trouble because my Altimaster II will be reading 0' by the time the DZO checks it. Or, with the DZO tracking opening altitudes with "an altitude recording device", does that mandate me buying one so that I can make a jump at this DZO's DZ? In the past dz.com posts have been used in court. With that said, when I posted this link last night, I used a title for the post, however after about 3 minutes, I decided to edit it to the current title..... Why? For one thing I wanted to help the dz by keeping the Google ranking low via the keywords I used. I also choose my words very carefully when posting in some topics, such as this one, for that same reason as well as because we all know some scumbag dirt ball lawyer's flunky will be searching for any little bullshit they can find to drag into court. I would always advise other posters to think carefully about how and what they say, here, on facebook, posting videos on utube, and other places where ones words and video can be used by those forces who seek to harm our industry. For an example of what I mean, Google Kimberly Gibbs Citizens for Quiet Skies..... Page one #7 took less then a week to land there. Like I said, I word my posts very carefully for many reasons. I am thinking about making a video of myself taking full responsibility for my skydiving and post it on my Facebook page before I make another skydive. What I have in mind, is me talking to the camera and telling all of my friends and family that I understand the risks involved with the sport, and do not want any legal action taken if something goes wrong. This way it will be out in the open for all to see. The only thing that I can see that would be bad is an instance like occurred in Belgium. Anyone have any suggestions on the wording? There is nothing wrong with using ROUND canopies for reserves with static-line training. If you think back to your first jump, how much did you actually know about the equipment and different malfunctions. In a two out scenario, a square main and round reserve will not fight for the same air or go into a downplane. Once the student has advanced to freefall they will have more training and experience to deal with a two (both square) out scenario. Don't Pull Low... Unless You ARE!!! Like Skybytch said, the sky will still be there. If your jump numbers are up to date then it sounds like you wouldn't get off of student status this season any way, so if you go ahead and take the layoff it will give you more time for recovery. I just bought myself a used toy-hauler 5th wheel travel trailer. Its a 40 footer and I love it, but if I had known there was something like this out there, I would have tried to find one. BTW, the reason I went with a toy hauler is that the "garage" will double as an air conditioned packing area. Don't Pull Low... Unless You ARE!!!
