  1. Yes. Thanks. I'd like to add a cutaway to one. The kit goes for $100. I'd like to find something workable but a little cheaper. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  2. I could also use those photos. Where are they available? Thanks, Kevin K.
  3. Glad to see Doc's Galveston Skydivers patch prominently displayed. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  4. Great thread. Thanks for the input. What are the issues with the CX-160 that make it a bad choice ? Kevin K.
  5. I know this has been discussed here several times, and the consensus among experienced folks seemed to be, IIRC, that it was a bad idea. On a recent Skydive Radio podcast, They discussed a canopy collision at Summerfest, and the 150-ish jump person involved said that she would be sure to, "barrel roll before pulling in the future". Show guest, Rook Nelson and host, Dave Schwartz seemed to agree that this was a good idea. I agree with posters on the earlier discussion, who said that this was not an effective solution, and could even cause extra problems because of the difficulty of maintaining tracking speed and holding a heading, especially for lower-experienced jumpers. What say you, unwashed DZ.com masses ? Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  6. I used to do a bit of that on my motorcycle, back then. It's good to have something behind you if you flare too much. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  7. That's for sure. But seeing photos now of big RW suits, with underarm fabric hanging down to the knees, makes me wonder. I was on a vintage suit jump a few years ago. As I approached a 5-way, it cracked me up when I realized that from about 10 feet out, I was hearing the jumpsuits flapping in freefall. 8. The location was Anyang, a good-sized city of about 5M population. The air quality was pretty bad. Anyang is a heavily industrialized place. This was a great contrast with the airshow visit by the World CRW Team last year to Laiwu, a smaller town of about 1M. There the air was much cleaner and the airshow site was more out in the country. Air quality overall was much lower overall on this visit compared to the last. Last year, even Beijing was pretty clear, with blue skies. This time, not so much. I have a feeling that it also depends on the season. Last year's visit was in the fall, this year's, in summer. Funny you mention the food fight. We were told that a similar incident a few years ago caused very hard feelings with the Chinese hosts, and were counseled to avoid such behavior at all costs. Kevin K.
  9. Too bad we didn't have video of the pilots smoking on the way to altitude, with an ashtray on top of a spare fuel tank. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  10. Great video. It is a short compilation of the airshow activities of the 9-nation World CRW Team's recent visit to Anyang, China. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgx024VdwPc _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  11. That's actually how a lot of people feel after their first CRW jump. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  12. Here's another. This jump seems to have made quite a hit in the town of Lk. Wales. They must not know much about the local DZ. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgEvbN-N4cs _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  13. If we tried that jump in Georgia, they'd shoot us down with a heat-seeking missle. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  14. The PC handle on my CRW rig is a stuffed green frog. I wouldn't consider it to be Freefly Friendly, but in CRW, if you're head down, you have more issues to deal with than a PC handle. Kevin K _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  15. Hi Billy. Come to another CRW boogie, you might meet that kid's REAL daddy.
  16. Great video. A little slow at first, but a great show by fearless, CRWDogs at Lk. Wales FL this weekend. What could be better than a Night 9-way CRW jump ? Add burning explosives, of course. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnfIoxNmyQk&feature=youtube_gdata_player Kevin K _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... 17. I think we all did, at one point or another. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  18. This is why, when I graduated, I knew hardly anyone I had gone to school with. However, I knew plenty of jumpers at DeLand. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  19. Reminds me of the tent that burned at WFFC one year. The occupant went to sleep (or passed out) with a candle burning. They woke to a blazing tent, and escaped with minor injuries. The rig, which was in the tent, was on display the next day by manifest with a donation jar next to it. Just looking at that rig made people whimper. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  20. Copied form P3 email: "It is with great disappointment and deep regret that we send you this email. We were informed yesterday that due to military activity in various Arab countries and humanitarian assistance needed around the globe, the C-130s reserved for the Dubai 253-way event scheduled for February 19 - 27, 2012 will not be available. Consequently, the Dubai 253 has been cancelled."
  21. We will miss Greg. He was really one of the "good guys" in skydiving. Always great to jump with or just to be around. Greg spread good vibes wherever he went. This is really a wonderful sport, but having some of the most wonderful people you could meet taken like this is so very hard. Blue Skies, Greg. Fly free, Brother. Kevin K.
  22. So, you're saying that if baboons jumped, they would all be swoopers ??? _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  23. Maybe these Tunnel folks don't actually skydive. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  24. Because people see it as no different from Synchronized Swimming - and they already have that. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
