  1. Hi Joe, Re: I'd also want an agreement that he would never again in any forum claim the election was stolen Me thinks you ask too much: The judge overseeing Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial accused the former president Wednesday of potentially violating the judge’s gag order a second time Trump’s latest insult prompts judge to weigh further penalties - POLITICO As I continue to say: He is his own worst enemy. We should be glad of that. Jerry Baumchen
  2. Hi Ken, A number of routine posters on this website support going after the gun mfrs for the deaths caused by what they make. Think about what would happen if a family went after a canopy mfr after a swooping death. Jerry Baumchen PS) IMO no waiver is absolute; at least not here in the good old USA. Any idea on how many lawyers graduate every year?
  3. Hi Joe, Re: I think DZO's . . . are responsible parties to the accident rates at their DZ's. This is exactly why the FAA got the court order against Ted Mayfield's operation. Jerry Baumchen
  4. Hi folks, Re: He dismissed the uproar over events in his apartment as “an obvious attack on the church, including the clergy and believers,” and claimed that nobody would have raised a fuss if “something similar had happened” to a person outside the clergy. If the shoe fits, wear it: Polish Bishop Resigns After Reports of Priest Holding Orgy - The New York Times (nytimes.com) I think it is something like: Good for me but not thee. Jerry Baumchen
  5. Hi folks, Now, with Mark Meadows spilling his guts, I found this Letter to the Editor in today's NY Times quite interesting: To the Editor: The danger that the guilty pleas of Jenna Ellis, Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell poses to former President Donald J. Trump and his remaining co-defendants in the Georgia election case extends beyond their prospective testimony. Had early trials gone forward, it would have given counsel for the remaining defendants, including Mr. Trump, a crucial preview of the prosecution’s case against them. By depriving defense counsel of such a road map, the prosecutors will benefit from an element of surprise that they might otherwise have sacrificed. Moreover, the guilty plea of Ms. Ellis underscores yet another danger for Mr. Trump and his remaining co-defendants: The more defendants who plead guilty and agree to cooperate with prosecutors, the greater the pressure on those remaining to do likewise, especially considering the relatively lenient deals that Ms. Powell and Mr. Cheseboro received. Of course, that pressure will only increase if and when additional defendants take plea deals. How will this affect the fate of Mr. Trump and his remaining co-defendants? Only time will tell. Since this Letter to the Editor is available for viewing by any reader of the NY Times, I hope that I am not doing something wrong in publishing it here. I did leave out the writer's name. 6. Hi Robert, See Post #1662. The dominoes keep falling. How sweet it is. Jerry Baumchen PS) To all you other Trump attorneys: The lines are still open.
  7. Hi jakee, And, SURPRISE; some people actually go back & buy another tomato after they have eaten the one that they have. Jerry Baumchen
  8. Hi folks, I have known Joe Weber for over 30 yrs. Anyone who jumps at his dz knows that he runs a tight ship. If you do not follow the rules, you are gone. End of discussion. He has had fatalities; it is part of skydiving. After each & every one, he took absolute corrective action to do his best to prevent anymore. Jerry Baumchen PS) There are a lot of things Joe & do not agree on, c'est la vie.
  9. Hi John, This woman is an educated attorney; and she says: “If I knew then what I know now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post-election challenges,” Ellis acknowledged that she helped supply false information Another Trump lawyer who pushed to overturn 2020 election pleads guilty - POLITICO She knew that she was committing a crime, no matter what she now says. One has to wonder just what went thru her [ their ] minds. OK, folks; who's next? The lines are open. Jerry Baumchen PS) The other day I was reading about Chesebro, the attorney who pleaded guilty last week. If he had pleaded to all of the original charges, he would have lost his law license. His actual plea allowed him to keep his law license even though he pleaded to a single felony.
  10. Hi Joe, I read about this guy yesterday on a local news website. I thought the same thing; then, I thought that he might have had it in his checked baggage on the outbound legs of his trip. He is still a GOP dufus. Jerry Baumchen
  11. Hi Rich, Or, it could be that he is already talking to some folks in secret. Fani, what can you tell us? Jerry Baumchen
  12. Hi Bill, Re: Or suppose you meet your old friend Sarah, and she just got married, and you don't know if she changed her name when she got married. What do you do? BTDT. My daughter got married in 2000. A few months later I called her at work to talk to her. The receptionist said that no Erin B worked there. The receptionist and I went around & around about her working there. Finally, the lightbulb went on in my head; she was now Erin W. Boy, did I ever apologize to that receptionist; probably should have bought her lunch. Ya gotta keep up with the times. Or, maybe it is: Old dogs & new tricks. Jerry Baumchen
  13. Hi folks, IMO this is just what he should be doing: Biden says release the hostages 'then we can talk' Israel-Hamas war: Gaza officials say more than 5,000 people killed; two hostages released from Gaza | NPR Jerry Baumchen
  14. Hi folks, Re: “The real import of this plea is the signal it sends to the other defendants,” said Chris Mattei, a former federal prosecutor. Georgia plea deals spell danger for Trump, co-defendants | The Hill Any thoughts on how soon Mark Meadows has his Come to Jesus Moment & cuts a deal? Rats do what rats do. Jerry Baumchen PS) I'm thinking that Meadows will be among the next five to cut a deal.

  16. Hi folks, Sometimes the actual truth does come out of the mouth of an attorney: Mr. Trump’s lead lawyer in Georgia, said that Mr. Chesebro’s guilty plea appeared to be influenced by “the looming threat of prison time. This is from an article in the NY Times; I hope that this link works: Kenneth Chesebro, a Trump-Aligned Lawyer, Pleads Guilty in Georgia - The New York Times (nytimes.com) Some things never cease to amaze me. 17. Hi Robert, I doubt that the $5,000 is the issue. I am thinking that the issue is that this is the first step for the judge. Then, when he gives Trump some time in jail, he can justify it by saying that he gave Trump a chance with the fine. The first step is always the beginning of the journey. Jerry Baumchen
  18. Hi folks, As I continue to say, 'Trump is his own worst enemy.' A New York judge has fined Donald Trump for violating a gag order in his civil fraud trial. Judge fines Donald Trump for 'blatant' gag order violation - BBC News Jerry Baumchen
  19. Hi jakee, I am aware of those efforts. IMO what this latest petition to the court is to, finally, get a ruling that an ex-president is not above the law. I do not believe that has ever been ruled on by any judge in this country. I may be wrong about this. Jerry Baumchen
  20. Hi Robert, Like all rats, they are leaving the sinking ship. Mother Nature at her finest. Jerry Baumchen
  21. Hi Mark, I may have to buy an airplane ticket & come join you in that effort. In an earlier life, I once tried to drink an entire jug of booze; could not do it. Jerry Baumchen PS) The day we see the orange man in an orange jumpsuit will be a celebration for sanity.
  22. Hi folks, Re: He is subject to the federal criminal laws like more than 330 million other Americans, including Members of Congress, federal judges, and everyday citizens Trump is not "above the law" and should not receive blanket immunity, DOJ says : NPR As I read this article & the position taken by the DOJ, it got me to thinking that this might be the first shot across the bow to have the feds go after Trump. If the judge rules in the DOJ's favor on this petition to the court, that would establish that he is subject to prosecution after he has left office; just like you and I are. Interesting. Jerry Baumchen
  23. Hi Don, Here is someone who will probably not be voting for him: “He is unquestionably mentally unstable, and he is racist, bigoted, misogynistic, xenophobic, vulgar and prone to violence . . ." “There is simply no rational argument that could lead me to vote for someone with those characteristics.” This is an excerpt from a new book, written by Mitt Romney, about what he thinks of Trump. He calls out a lot of Republicans for what they are. Senator Mitt Romney, Republican of Utah, makes clear in a new biography that he is not pleased with the direction of his party. Jerry Baumchen
  24. Hi Robert, One thing I have noticed over the years; there is a lot of difference in what one says on stage or at a podium vs what one says under oath. Lying at the wrong time has consequences. Jerry Baumchen
  25. Hi Joe, As I have watched to news since 7 Oct, I have noticed that when any Palestinian is being interviewed, he/her is outraged at what Israel is doing. Not one time have I heard any Palestinian anywhere condemn the attacks by Hamas. So, just who are the bad guys? Jerry Baumchen PS) Yes, I stand with Israel.
