  1. And you could be less like you, I suppose. It wasn’t an authoritative post, just a joking observation. I followed it with enough of the photo to show the origin, a newspaper. But thanks for posting the doc in time to make an insulting comment.
  2. Well, apparently this was the image the DOJ included in their court filing. Do you have better information?
  3. Really? You don't believe he chose that carpet?
  4. That's just ridiculous and you should know it. The Alliance I referred to isn't the US it's the NATO Alliance, you should know that, too. Be grateful that the US has enough taxpayer paid for arms ready to go to counter Russia's expansionist goals in Eastern Europe. Please don't forget that Canada agreed to pay 2% GDP on defense with 20% of that going to home grown weapons R&D. But they didn't and you are welcome.
  5. No kidding. It won't be long until we're as useful to the rest of the alliance as Canada.
  6. No way would any Russian or Chinese agents be clever enough to spot these on the carpet.
  7. They worked for a couple of years to keep me and many others from catching colds, the flu, and for all I know covid, too. 5 Pfizers into it and I finally caught Covid after foregoing masks except where required. Light case, so maybe the vaccine did it's less than perfect job, too. You won't see me on a commercial flight without an N95 but it'll be one with a vent, you know, just to say fuck you back.
  8. Even now large law firm types and their bosses think twice before not representing a former and possible next president. Don McGahn wanted to quit the bastard when he was White House counsel but his actual bosses at Jones Day put the kibosh on it. I guess it's a credential worth a lot of inflated billable hours.
  9. There is a level of play above that.
  10. You cling to old traditions like a child clings to their doll. In a thousand years the ancient traditions that shape todays concepts of gender and gender bending will be history, and the emblems of our racist past will be piles of dust not just toppled. Some of us, when we see a bend in the road ahead slow down for the turn. Others, too narcotized by the ease of a straight road, maintain speed and hope there isn't a cliff. You wore the nations uniform for 20 years, ostensibly, to guarantee everyones freedom to live a free life, not just you. Crying now because societal trends caused by the will of a majority of the free people you served don't suit you is, well, babyish. I am not certain that humanity will bake, boil, simmer, freeze or be washed away to extinction by 1000 days of rains and floods in the next 100 years but I am absolutely certain of one thing: humanity will not advance to game changing levels of technological advancement, and perhaps our salvation, using only the energy derived from fossil fuels. Nor will we achieve any of the loftier goals of peaceful brother and sisterhood by defining for our fellows how they should see themselves. You know, to each their own.
  11. The difference between us left wing circle jerkers and you and your like minded souls is the variety of topics we find interesting.
  12. Excuse me if I'm getting a little wet eyed over this but I'm getting to where I sorta miss 'ol RushMC.
  13. I don’t think he’s confused about anything. I think he’s just ambivalent about everyone.
  14. Biden's approval rating is jumping up hard and fast according to a Gallup poll. "At 44%, Biden’s approval rating is now higher than the approval ratings of Donald Trump (41%), Barack Obama (43%), Bill Clinton (39%), Jimmy Carter (43%), and Ronald Reagan (41%) at this point in their presidencies." The 44% does not include the debt forgiveness decision. The hoped for blue wave may not be just a pipe dream, after all.
  15. Something like that but it ain't much or many. I agree with you on secondary school, absolutely, but I am convinced that junior college designed to be accessible to adults with needs is the single most valuable investment we can make.
  16. If the only benefit of the student debt forgiveness, given it's likely overturning by our partisan supreme court, is the opportunity to trumpet the hypocrisy from now until the mid-terms it will be worth the price. Now we need to show some cojones and quit with the nicey nice. We need to change the marketing rule of 7 to 77 to meet the reception capacities of the target market. Time to get after it.
  17. No it wasn't a straight answer. Asked what value you would place on XX you offer that the value is for lawmakers to figure out. Well, lawmakers didn't make the statement, you did, hence my inquiry into what you thought. So, you'll just need to forgive me if I take your entire list of items as too vague to qualify as anything other than a pretense.
  18. But not only is it not equitable it is fundamentally unfair to those who paid off their $30K. Also, if that number is real then there really isn't a huge problem; $30K isn't money these day's. If something just absolutely needed to be done by executive order then maybe the government could have assumed all of the notes and stopped all interest as long as a basic payment tied to current earnings were made. Regardless of the vehicle anyone who did pay off their notes should get a tax credit of some construct. That or not do anything while a fairer solution is crafted.
  19. That's one item out of many but a great example of side stepping the issue. My point is that if you'll come at me with this: "Joe - I've clearly stated many actions that IMO should be taken. You've continually inferred that I support unfettered proliferation of assault weapons. That's not correct." And then back up that claim with fill in the blanks and shoulda oughta's you aren't being completely straight. I gave you the opportunity to clearly state and you are unwilling to do so. I don't blame you, actually, because like I pointed out what you claim to want when fleshed out would be serious gun regulations.
  20. The former political director for the anti-abortion advocacy group Texas Right to Life has been charged with soliciting a minor online, The Courier reports. Luke Bowen was caught in a sting carried out by Montgomery County Internet Crime Against Children. He faces a second-degree felony, which carried a two- to 20-year sentence and a fine of up to $10,000. He was released on $50,000 bond. Makes sense: Fewer abortions = More minors online.
  21. That's a good thing. But we need to get out of the ignorance hole and it seems to me that making Junior College like grades 13 and 14 for adults who have additional needs is the way to go. The trick will be to not be stingy about it recognizing that it is money that won't be spent elsewhere on more expensive problems. Obviously, it will need to happen when the Democrats are in full control.
  22. That is a damn fine point. We bail them out and then help with rebuilding. Insanity, but your point is fully intact.
  23. It's just too darn bad that the FBI now can't be trusted to investigate allegations made by unnamed sources about possible violations of stuff. As long as you're back, are you willing to address the gun control issues you brought up and I responded to back on August 12 in post #1559 of the second amendment thread?
  24. That forgiving a small amount of student debt to a targeted group for what, to my eye, appears to be a pure political purpose, i.e.. to get out the college vote in November can even be considered a reasonable strategy is more an indictment of our national system of education than turd bird politics. I'm all for pandering to young people to get out the vote, and using our money to do it, but I think this forgiveness plan wasn't the right choice. I'm also doubtful that 10 grand will move the needle much; it's just not much money to people with a lot of debt and not enough money to the rest. Better, I think, to somehow make junior college more accessible and desirable. Start by making it 100% tuition and supplies free of charge, add child care, a free cafeteria, transportation like we do for 1-12, part time work opportunities, and even housing for full timers making a minimum GPA. That seems like a swell way to pander for votes and blow bucks but get a better return on the investment. I don't see how that is achievable by executive action but surely strong elements could have been in the Inflation Reduction Act. Anecdotes are terrible ways to make a point so naturally I'll go that route. I know two people who each now owe 1/3 of a million in student debt that continues to accrue interest. One, a JD, works the minimum and pays the minimum and whose life's strategy is a life of interrupted employment so he can kick the can down the road forever if need be. The other, a DVM, is hiding outside the country on a sail boat. She simply always hoped that somehow someone would do something and why work just to pay back student loans. Neither went to JC. To sum, I think this puny loan forgiveness scheme is more pissed away political capital than real help.
