  1. No, no, no, Nothing good comes from being a bigger nkuckelhead than the other guy. My appologies. Lets get on a positive note. What will I do today and what will you do today. I vote for I cover my ass first, and I will watch out for you to the best of my ability. Mark
  2. jimmy T, pretty good, thoughtful. Thanks for a thoughtful response to a thoughtful, real question. How about we all think some more.....couldn't hurt. Mark
  3. Someone who swoops. Cheeze, Bill! Sister Mary-slap-you-upside-the-head would be proud.
  4. I'm planning to ground launch from Yuma, see at the DZ.
  5. Two packs a day since 1967, Zero since Monday Mar 19, '07. It's a bit rough, heroine was easier. Chantix is on the table, but it's just Wellbutren and I don't want to go down that path. What I really need is a prescription for blow jobs and skydiving. Insurance companies will surly cover jump tickets v/s chemo, wouldn't you think? Hail, Hail, Rock and Roll, don't smoke!
  6. The toll taken upon the shoulders of dz operators and employees, following any injuries are too personal to describe. It might do everyone well, to reflect on how, we each might respond to the onslot of rhetoric and inuendo that always floods these forums. We often see 'vibes' sent out to the victims and families, but rarely any condolence to the infrastructure of people who feel terribly responsible (unjustly) for any part in any mishap. I have never seen a post that states, "Damn sorry somebody chose your home or workplace to expire, for whatever reason". And how about, "You must be feeling pulled in many different directions, regards your home, your job, your friends, etc." Empathy. Just a thought.
  7. Sound bites, good. We'll see. Hope for reality to bite!
  8. And something called 'modulating the brakes', so you back up without losing relative altitude. I've seen it close up while being 'top-docked', but it still boggles the mind.
  9. You guys are 'off topic' again. I'm celebrating the art of flying backwards for 1000 yards, playing with the wind and enjoying every controlled and demented pleasure of sinking and sashaying, and driving, and flying to the max in the most challenging conditions. Slip your canopy like a real wing. Stall and dive, rotate out of a stall. Climb a bit .
  10. This post is absolutely not meant to attach swoopers. This post is intended to impress upon newer jumpers that, canopy control means, just that, canopy control. The last weekend at my home dz, was buried in twenty to thirty mph ground winds, with gusts to forty. Many jumpers wisely elected not to jump. Many jumpers unwisely thought that they could, with their superior penetrating canopies, overcome the earth's forces and beat mother nature at her own game. Many did, and the show was impressive. However, many more did not, and the show was very impressive and much more entertaining. But to me, the greatest show was put on by CRW fun jumpers, who displayed an uncanny and very different understanding of wind and canopy control. All of the crw experienced pilots, backed their canopies expertly, and sashayed to perfectly controlled touchdowns. The show was amazing. No drama, no panic, no over or under shooting the perfect landing space. Confident and controlled. Amazing. Perhaps, swoopers could learn something from those old CRWDOGS!
  11. This is a 'call out' to all the wingsuiters, local to Eloy. I know there are lots of us out there, that are not making regular wingsuit flights. Here's hoping you lurkers would like to get together and start some fun on whatever level of expertise or fun-meter suits ya. Spread the word. All commers welcome to totaly embarass me my lack of flying skills. I will promise you this..... , you can teach me something, and this is what I am looking for. I want and need fellow wingsuiters to help me learn. Each and everyone has something to offer. I'm a sponge, and no experience is left without some learned tidbit.
  12. Damn Chuck, Kinda dissappointed, but I do see your point. Now the question is, can we get right back to the sit at hand, after a nice diversion? I'm remembering some kid a year or so ago, arguing that the 'Kent State Incident' was possibly not all that the media made it to be. Maybe just a mistake, or maybe didn't really happen at all. Focus, focus, or forget. ????????
  13. Easy now, I didn't mean to start an attack on joe sixpack. But, it does seem true. As with the attention paid to Nichole somebody, as O. J.'s trial devererted attention from TUTSI slaughter in th '90's. Where are our attentions focused? Just wondering what some of us think about, day, to day. Admittedly, I think mostly about me.
  14. $$$$ Were is the armor and arms. Buying hot dogs and beer at races?
  15. Ah ha, there you are! Where did you go? Indo Asia?, S4eatle, Timbucktu, Eloy? get back in the air wherever you are bother. "Help somebody get what they want or need, you'll be fine." Thanks for your help.
  16. Well spoken and I agree. But facts are still facts. Deal with facts as you know them to be, and ignore everyone else if that's easier for you.
  17. Bull shit. Is that what you say? To what? My sport is what I make it. That is my point, not yours. Dude, you are so off base, I'm sorry you read this post. Get a good night's sleep and help me look at it from tomorrow's perspective. You may have some helpful insights for me. I ain't nothing but learning new every day. Mark
  18. Coaching = Paying it forward. I like that! Can I quote you? Never mind, I'm gonna say I made it up myself. You fly girl! Mark
  19. To those new to our sport/commercial environment, let me explain that in past years, the 'family' concept was universal. This recent issue, past fifteen years or so, of everyone and his brother thinking they should get paid for being friendly and helpful, is ananthem to lots of older skydivers. There was a 'cultural shock' of sorts, when many folk discovered that the fees charged for big way and other events, were producing income for a few organizers . In today's world, we see nothing wrong with this, but understand that, yesturday, we trusted our fellow and leading breatheren to treat us all better than this. It shocked many of us, and hurts to this day. We're over it and accept the new order, but we "remember when."
