    Sexuallity

Not a flame here, just an observation. Heterosexuals dont define themselves by their sexuality but gay people do. It seems something must be missing if you need to define yourself by your sexuality. I think our identity lies somewhere else than who we have sex with. JMHO, YMMV
  2. I believe skydivers are born, not made. Its something inside you that find after you make your first jump. Its pretty hard to MAKE yourself a skydiver if you dont have that something in you already. Most instructors who have been around a while will agree with me, I think. I have over 2000 tandem jumps and I have said to each and everyone: "Thank you for letting me share that with you." Bill Morrissey gave me that line when he taught my tandem course. I forget jumps I did yesterday, but I will never forget my first and I still appreciate how special an event it is. Skydiving is more of a lifestyle and an attitude than a hobby or a sport. If its in you, you already know it. Welcome to our world.
  3. Agree, I mean, the purpose of threads like this is to HAVE FUN and escape for a moment from reality and laugh a little, at least, this is how I see it. My jump numbers low? of course, I just started skydiving last year, I live in the northeast of the USA and we have a few months of good weather, and as Muenkel said, if you lose your job your numbers will be halted, however, I manage to jump everytime there's good weather (even in winter time). I'm still new to the sport and have mega loads of stuff to learn, but, why not learning and having fun at the same time?, that's why I post here. It's all good.
  4. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS: After you're done arguing on the internet, even if you win....you're both still idiots.
  5. With his avatar, number of jumps and time in the sport his only credibility seems to be # of posts in this forum. Seems to me he should spend more time skydiving and less typing/policing this forum.
  6. "More Guns, Less Crime" by John Lott.
  7. Is this "Ivan" a mod here? Or his he just some self appointed cop? A "mall ninja?"
  8. OK Dude. Put down the crack pipe and back away slooooowly.
  9. I landed a bad one once. It was my first BASE jump back in 84 from a 1000' tower. There was no BASE gear the we just used our sport rigs with a big PC. We packed without bag or slider. I had a 220' Pegasus with a white top skin and rainbow bottom. Pictures from the tower showed three complete cells inverted. I stopped the turn with rear riser and attemped a mid air transfer to my round reserve but the reserve diaper never opened and I landed the main as it was and walked away. Go figure, but the parachute basically had a half twist in it and wasnt descending that fast. I remember the reserve trailing straight behind me, not above me as it would have with high ROD. By the way, just so you know, line over mals were unheard of before pro packing. It is most definitely a packing error.
  10. BAN TRACTORS!!! For the children! Gun control is like when the speed limit is 30mph and somebody flies through at 90. Solution: Lower speed limit to 20mph.
  11. You better watch out for some guy named Ivan. I posted that yesterday. I hear this Ivan guy has issues.
  12. Revolvers chambered for auto cartridges use clips. Full and half moon. But you are right, not many. A clip holds the bullets so they can be inserted into the magazine. So it technically is a "bullet holder". I have ammo loaded onto stripper clips for my AR15's. Attach the "spoon" to the magazine, insert stripper clip into spoon and push bullets into mag.
  13. Just found a link. I originally saw this on FNC. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=36062
  14. No, it was on Fox news. Colonel West is going to retire as soon as he gets his"non-judicial punishment". Lets hope the General sees fit to make it the least possible. I cant believe it made this far. It reminds me, sort of, like when the lawer refused permission to bomb the convy in Afganistan that OBL was in.
  15. I am pissed at GW. He signed a blatantly unconstitutional piece of legislation hoping the SCOTUS would strike it down like they should have and it backfired. Man I cant stand politicians.
  16. Well, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals says the second amendment is about an individual right (Emerson), and the Ninth says it isn't(can't remember). I'm wondering why the supreme court doesn't take an appeal and clear up the matter [and now it seems you think the sun shines from the justices collective backsides]. Sylviera v. Lockyer.(sp) is the Ninth circus case and the Supremes just refused to hear it.
  17. Wrong. The law specifically prohibits special interest groups from advertising for or against candidates during specific time periods before elections. That means you will have to accept only what the media tells you. excerpts: "Dissent by Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist: ``The court attempts to sidestep the unprecedented breadth of this regulation by stating that the `close relationship between federal officeholders and the national parties' makes all donations to the national parties `suspect.' But a close association with others, especially in the realm of political speech, is not a surrogate for corruption; it is one of our most treasured First Amendment rights. The court's willingness to impute corruption on the basis of a relationship greatly infringes associational rights and expands Congress' ability to regulate political speech...'' ``No doubt Congress was convinced by the many abuses of the current system that something in this area must be done. Its response, however, was too blunt.'' Dissent by Justice Antonin Scalia: ``This is a sad day for the freedom of speech. Who could have imagined that the same court which, within the past four years, has sternly disapproved of restriction upon such inconsequential forms of expression as virtual child pornography, tobacco advertising, dissemination of illegally intercepted communications, and sexually explicit cable programming, would smile with favor upon a law that cuts to the heart of what the First Amendment is meant to protect: the right to criticize the government...'' ``The first instinct of power is the retention of power, and, under a Constitution that requires periodic elections, that is best achieved by the suppression of election-time speech. We have witnessed merely the second scene of Act I of what promises to be a lengthy tragedy.'' Dissent by Justice Clarence Thomas: ``The chilling endpoint of the Court's reasoning is not difficult to foresee: outright regulation of the press... Media corporations are influential. There is little doubt that the editorials and commentary they run can affect elections. Nor is there any doubt that media companies often wish to influence elections. One would think that the New York Times fervently hopes that its endorsement of presidential candidates will actually influence people. What is to stop a future Congress from determining that the press is `too influential,' and that the `appearance of corruption' is significant when the media organizations endorse candidates or run `slanted' or `biased' news stories in favor of candidates or parties?'' "
  18. Lt.Colonel Alan West is NOT going to be court martialed! He still will get an article15 though. YaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaY!
  19. Each of those 4 rules backs the others, but yes even experienced gun handlers have NG's. If you break one rule but follow the other three you should come out alright. To the train story. I got my Dad's car stuck on the tracks(long story) when I was in highschool. Two friends were with me and we were trying to get unstuck when we heard a train's horn a long way off. Two of us ran one way and the other guy went opposite 'cause we couldnt tell which direction the sound came from. Me and my friend had probably run a half-mile when the train came in sight and we stood on the tracks screaming and waving our arms and jumping up and down. The train DID pass us but it stopped before it smashed my Dad's car. Funny story now but scary as hell at the time. I can picture the train coming at us like it was yesterday!
  20. There are four simple rules, here they are: 1: Every gun is a loaded gun. 2: Never point a gun at anything you are not willing to destroy. 3: Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target. 4: Always be sure of your target and whats behind it. And you can stop a train by standing on the tracks and yelling. I've done it.
  21. This is not my cat, she wouldnt stand for it.
