  1. who gives a"f‘€¼³" when I registered. If one wants to get rid of it, do so. if you like it, keep it. WTF is the difference. I just look on here for some fun mostly. I think most peeps on here, are just here to say stupid shit, and put down poeple that have a legitimate question. In the world of BASE jumping, Ive found that there are too many politics, I started BASE jumping for fun, I almost stopped skydiving because of the stupid politics. I like to BASE jump for me, I got some awesome friends from my antics, skills, what have you... I dont see many politics in the real world because peolple shy away from it, but here on dorkzone.com where an opionin is without a face, it is very abundant and it sucks. A simple question that is asked, turns into someone not even wanting to jump or take up the sport. If it was up to this place if I wanted to be a BASE jumper or not. Id say f u c k no. The shit on here sucks and so does the moderation(NOT the moderators). I wanna jump, in my mind (just like a playstation) this place is a time sucker. If one needs to know about being a newbie, ask someone in person. I made calls and got good info. on here id be shot down for asking. Get rid of it if you cant handle the bullshit. Keep it if you wanna hear some funny shit talking (magot). But why have a poll against something that is irrelvant to the sport. BASE jumping is about friends, good times, jumping, stories, adventure, danger... who gives a shit if dorkzone is here or not. Jump for what you want, not some stupid reason like a web-site telling you how it is or how you need to be. Jump for yourself and yourself only. If you are dependant on the dorkzone for answers, you shouldnt BASE jump. Have a good night. and oh yea keep it real bitches!
  2. I don’t know anyone around there, but have a pleasurable time getting shot down, criticized, and made a fool. It will be like dipping a bloody toe into a pond full of piranha, for asking an inane question like that. Besides, just like everyone else will say, STFW.

“We were allowed to destroy cars because they told us that they were used as suicide bombs. It was cool, but we didn’t like the fact that they were driving nicer cars than us, so we’d blow them up. It was a lot of fun.” ~soldier in war

    Wyoming

I just landed a job in Wyoming as a Project Engineer for an oil/gas/chemical plant to be built . I haven't yet been to the site, but from the type of job it is, I'm guessing it is the middle of nowhere. I can easily travel around in Wy. and was wondering if anyone knew of some spots in the great state to flick.
  10. As well am I fine with hearing peoples opinions, So here it is, my opinion, on my jump #30 I did my first stowed, every jump before that I made myself do an exercise every time Id jump. Id pretend to have a 180 left and correct it, Id think of all possible situations and correct them, no matter what jump. And for the "feeling out" my base canopy, shit yea, good idea. My point is although my jump numbers were low I trained off every jump. I still do. I feel highly confident in my own acquired skills and I learn more each time I jump. Like everybody says if you don’t like the feel of it don’t do it. You’re not a pussy if you walk away. Jump #31 was another stowed, I practiced throwing in the hotel and at home at least 1000 times. #32, I pulled off a perfect gainer with total altitude awareness, threw at exactly the right time, and had an awesome opening, even on that jump I made my self think of all possible situations, yet even still, I practiced something. I did a "rollover" earlier that day, and was way more nervous to do that than a gainer. That day was a good day, I had 5 firsts, first stowed, first 2 way, first 3 way, first rollover, and then first gainer. I had plenty of people tell me to be careful; I also had a very experienced jumper there with me. The point being is I do what I feel I can do, I jump for me and no one else, I didn’t do these things for someone else or to look "cool", I did them for myself. If anyone thinks it a problem I look at them and say I did it for me, thanks for your concern but I can handle it. Now if I was in Moab per say, I wouldn’t be doing nothing but hand held off any of the cliffs there, why? Because I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing anything else. I’m not crazy, I’m very educated, and I’m smart enough to know right from wrong. Yea, I’ve done most of my jumps from the same S, and I feel very comfortable off of it. But like the Moab cliffs, I haven’t jumped them yet so I won’t be going out there and busting out a gainer off a 300' cliff, I know better. Of course a S is nice because there isn’t much to hit, whereas a cliff there could be a strike or numerous other things. Jump numbers aside, I personally don’t think it matters. Look at me, and no I’m not trying to gloat. I do what I think I can and what feels right; no one can take my own responsibility and recognizance into their hands. It’s the comfort level I think matters. So with that being said I’m outta here, thanks for reading.

    Surviving BASE

the quote we all should live by is "have fun, don't die" if you dont feel like you shouldn't jump, dont. Its all up to oneself how you live your life and the chances you take. I think if you live it vicariously you will have a mishap. Or if you have a good thinking head on your shoulders, you should live as long as the good Lord will let you, wether it be 1 jump or 100,000, that's the chance you take.

    Ground Launching

Hey Yall. Maybe I will get down to SLC sometime seeing as I am close. I just got back from the hill. I defenitely needed that steep hill that was mentioned. A little head wind was the best. Too much in a gust and it would pull me up and over the hill. Plus my loading on it is about .59, thats a bit much for me. But when I finally got it all figurged out the best was keep the brakes in the keepers and "kite"the canopy, like hookit mentioned. It wouldnt give me any forward movement, but as soon as I would pop the toggles it would fly much better. Then with the extreme wing loading it was everything I had to get it to go forward. I ended up giving it some front riser. That allowed it to dive from behind me to in front of me whereas I could start to fly. First time sucked ass, as well as the second. 3rd 4th 5th and 6th kicked ass. I had a good but short ride of about 12 seconds. and some sweet swooping onto a small walking path. So it all went well, and Im safe. Thanks all for your help and hopefully Ill see you all at the Perrine sometime. See you at the exit point.......

    Ground Launching

Thanks for the help. Im sorry I didnt know it was the wrong forum. I am mostly a BASE jumnper, and I hardly look at other forums. My thinkin since I was doing it with my base canopy, that this would be a good place to get the info I needed. Thanks again, anything helps!

    Ground Launching

I’m going to go try some ground launching here in about ½ an hour. Seeing as I have never done it I would like to know some thoughts on how to do it the best. For instance: Should I stow my brakes, if so deep or shallow? I can picture it pretty good. I can see that it would be good to just run down the hill and get the canopy over my head (if it helps the hill is about 400 ft tall and at about a 45 deg slope). Then would it be beneficial to give a little toggle input to get it to go into flight? Or would it be better to just run for as long as it takes to get the canopy into full flight and let it take me off the ground rather than trying to lift it off with the before mentioned toggle input? Any help will be appreciated.
  19. you know ricky, that one day you came out to the dz? i kept wondering why you were still there after your tandem, as almost all of the tandems leave in a state of bliss! as you stood there and watched i could see it that you would be back. It sure is nice to have a new friend, its too bad that sometimes you have to put up with my two screamin entities, but it is always good to see you and I hope we can start something good with preston and I, by next year well be like the Idaho airspeed 3 way team. I hope that you enjoy all the fun we have at the DZ with us, because it is sure a stress relief for me to have something else to do than just sit around and listen to well you know K, and S. holy shit they can get annoying. Its is great fun I think now that you finally got to do some rw with us, work on your spottin and maybe well jump this weekend, or i guess that I or the P dog could do it. Like everyone else says welcome to the family!! Hope youre enjoyin it. Blue skies full of industrial haze to ya, shit yea that haze stuff is fukin fun, just wait well get a good one, one day
