  1. Do you want them all on at the same time? Otherwise radio shack - selector switch - and some basic wiring will solve the problem. If you want a mixer that lets you hear them all at once, then your options are the ones that you have found with a 1/4 converter. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 2. That doesn't seem like a very likely scenario. This is a question best answered by having a rigger look at the equipment. There is very little on a rig that is in correct shape that would cause the lines to get hung up and require great exertion to flare. Now if there was a step through or something else wrong with the rig, that's another matter. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 3. It doesn't matter if its a big way or a two or four way, the same applies. If they are inexperienced, they need to be properly briefed, and carefully watched until they can demonstrate the requisite skills to complete every aspect of the dive safely. As the experienced organiser, these drills are part of what you should be instilling in them, and they should not be progressing on to anything bigger until they have demonstrated their skills consistently. Its why it is a good idea to have small groups jumping together on a regular basis, rather than chopping and changing the loads around with new individuals. Easier to do on a small DZ operation though..... You're mixing theory with what really happens. I try to avoid skydives like this, but there is only so much you can do and when they are gonna do it with or without, generally it helps to give it some direction. Yeah who knows, inability judge one's own level of performance and all. Seems pretty rampant right? Edit to add: To clarify some, I mean, I would say I would find myself in this situation a couple of times a season at most where I am wondering if someone might be above me or not. Generally on things like speed stars where they funnel and people are everywhere and it's still only 8k. Who knows where everyone is gonna end up on that stuff. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 4. I kinda agree with this, but it depends on skill level. As a higher experienced person who often is organizing less experienced people, it helps for me. I can't always keep track of everyone during the skydive (in a blind spot while maintaing a formation, leave early for some wierd reason, etc etc), but my overall tracking capabilities generally let me out track everyone. Sometimes I just get that scary feeling that someone is somehow above me, then I roll and check. My circumstances are different than most though, I lead a lot of tracking dives on my back (and can roll on heading), can track almost as fast on my back, and can roll a wingsuit to backfly on heading. It's just a different skill set I am working from. It's not something I would ever do on a real bigway cause I expect those people to know what they are doing or not be on the jump. But when jumping with low experience people who I can't be sure will see a wave off, or me below them at pull time if they somehow have managed to keep up with me, I gotta look out for myself. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 7. Really? We teach main/reserve entanglement reel in least inflated canopy, though I have to say this is the first video I have ever seen of it actually done. That kind of skydiving/gear boggles my mind. I am so glad for how things work these days. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 8. Ok better late than never right... If you're coming to the Cheese Boogie this year - now's the time to pre-register and sign up on the facebook event so we can all know who is gonna be there. Facebook Event (If you don't have facebook, no big deal, but you should still pre-reg) Pre-Registration We need people to sign up for food (new this year, we are doing breakfast too) and make sure you add a T-Shirt if you want this year's boogie shirt. We won't be buying many extra. Since the last Cheese Boogie we have had a chef/caterer start jumping with us. He has provided food for other smaller events over the course of the season and makes some really awesome stuff. The whole processes should be much smoother than in the past as well. Very Exciting!!!! See you all very soon. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 9. Looks like Brian Snarr from SDC is gonna be able to make it and he will likely be flying camera. 10. Yep this is at Sky Knights in East Troy. The details are that we will be doing the jumps from a Skyvan, I hope to do between a 9 and 16way. As of now, I'm doing the organizing. I haven't a lot of experience with wingsuit organizing and am open to other (cheap/free) options. I hope to do the record fairly quickly and then move on to other jumps, but you just never know. I would be happy if I could get a solid base flyer. I don't have a commitment for who is doing camera yet (but will have someone for sure, even if I have to do it, though I would rather be on the record). The boogie fee for the weekend is $30 and food is being served friday evening through sunday morning for various prices. I am organizing who is coming through facebook, so if you're interested PM me and I can get you the details there. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 13. I want to break the current 6way wisconsin wingsuit record. If anyone is in the general area and would like to participate shoot me a message. It will be September 8th (weekend after labor day) during the SKSPC Cheese Boogie (which is otherwise pretty heavy with CRW jumpers). Aircraft is a skyvan. Let me know if you're interested. 15. Fuck off, I already pay at least a third of my income in taxes :( Then he is not talking about you Well Romney clearly supports a plan to increase my taxes, how on earth does that help me. 20. Maybe this will come as a shock, but - you can't. If you go back in time and consider the different things that crazy people did and how they were handled it becomes pretty clear that in a modern society there isn't really a way to stop these things before they happen. The best that we can hope for is controlling it when it does. Historically, stuff like this was handled by weeding these people out before they could become a problem. That's not about to happen in our society because everything is "fixable" by some therapy or medication, at least so they say. People used to be more capable of defending themselves because society was just set up different. In way back times, the village lunatic would just be beaten to death or cast out if he tried to go against the norms of the time and that solved most of the problems. In medieval times disease got most of the people who couldn't take care of themselves and the nobles killed the rest of the lunatics. In the old west, the lunatics got better weapons, but just about everyone was walking around with some form of personal protection so they really didn't ever get that far. In modern society, regardless of what you ban or what restrictions you put on what you can buy or own, people will come up with creative ways to murder other people. The crazies aren't getting weeded out of the population because little johnny who likes to stomp on frogs and kill cats/dogs/pets/etc is just mal-adjusted and needs to be medicated. If he somehow manages to pro-create that carries those genes on and little johnny jr gets taught what's right by a lunatic. It just compounds itself. Society is devolving in many ways. Sure, technology is advancing and there are a whole host of very smart people out there, but the lower end and even in the middle parts of society, the way people behave and what they are being taught about personal responsibility is slipping. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 21. That doesn't really make sense to me. If tomorrow, McDonalds, Walmart, Target and UPS said - screw this, we're only paying $4 an hour for our non-managment employees, 3.2 million people aren't just gonna go on as if nothing changed. They would be screwed. It's not like they could all pack up and go find somewhere else to work. $4 an hour is $8320 a year gross @ 40 hours for 52 weeks. Consider for a minute trying to live on that much money. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 22. No, I'm not and I know enough about it to know that given my current employment circumstances it's irrelevant to me. I have 0 out of pocket medical costs basically no matter what and I'm not in the military. It pays to work for people who care about their employees, which most companies do not. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 23. I do understand this. I build software systems in the financial industry. Everyone was saying that all the work would be going to the Indians and we'd be working for beans. It did happen for a couple of years after 9/11. Then it reversed. What ended up happening was those Indians who could compete are now making top dollar on the street. My point is markets do apply, even with employee-employer relationships. It's difficult, but it can be done. Granted, market based systems do not guarantee a comfortable life with a 9-5 job. That's a different argument. What do you think would happen if the top 10-15 software development firms in your line of work got together and decided that it was BS that you programmers were so expensive? How about, you have to work 60 hours a week for no overtime and a 15% pay cut. Why can't we just let that happen. I mean, if I owned stock in those companies or owned the companies outright, that sounds like a pretty good deal to me. A little collusion and we can make it better for everyone. I mean, if we cut the federal government out of managing fair labor standards and the such, there won't really be anyone to keep them from doing that. I guess people could quit, but unemployment would fill the jobs and bills have to be paid and such, so I think a lot of people would keep working. Eventually I would be able to push out the competition too cause my cost of doing business would be less. Would let me crush some of the other developers who pay better and buy them out and cut pay there too. I mean, it's a pretty out there hypothetical, but really who knows what's possible if we were to really have no regulation on this kinda stuff. Yeah, it's not going to affect me much. I already have top quality non-government health care. It's irrelevant to my standard of living. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 24. My point is - where is the limit? The Federal Government is going to far, e.g., http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=HcBaSP31Be8&vg=medium (full disclosure, I have not verified information used in the video). This whole thing for you boils down to "obama care is bad" right? I mean, is that what this concept is about? Mandatory health care is a good thing given the way the medical industry is set up right now. If you don't like the concept of mandatory health care (or pay a tax/fee/whatever you want to call it) then you should be advocating for change to the industry, not this law. Make it so that people without healthcare don't get service. Those people can just die in the street for all I care, if we don't have some kind of mandatory health care. That's pretty brutal I know and gosh, what if I was that person, the point I'm making is that you can't have it both ways. You're not wrapping your head around the fact that it costs you no matter what because the systems already helps everyone even if they can't pay. The fact that it's being forced by a bureaucratic movement now is irrelevant because Pandora's box is already open. Everyone gets served even if they can't pay. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
