  1. Still Jealous I see. You know, you are percieved by others based on the way you speak and act. Based on what I have read of your statements so far, you seem very uneducated on the subject matter. You have made many statements which are just plain wrong, and you continue to us profanity like it is nobodys business. I am painting a pretty good picture of you in my head. I would recommend that you study a little bit more history, maybe read a newspaper or two, maybe watch the news ever once in a while, and try to think rationally not emotionally. You will likely go a lot further in life that way. FYI - The Advice is free.... Your welcome ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  2. Who uses hairspray for a Potato Gun? Carburator Cleaner is a much more potent fuel!!!! Trust Me!!!!! ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  3. Not that I would say the troops job isn't tough both physically and mentally (It might be even tougher on their families) but, implying the President of the USA's job is not one of if not the most difficult in the world is simply niave. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  4. That was the stupidest thing I have ever heard!!! The president signed a bill yesterday while on vacation. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  5. Who said he can't handle it? I get 5 weeks Vacation every year, and I take all of it. The difference is, I don't do work during mine, but the president does. Sounds to me like you are a bit jealous. What's a matter??? Your job doesn't give you enough time off? Ohhh, poor baby! Find a new one! ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  6. Wow... you obviously don't know, and can't know that being the president of the USA, is probably the most difficult underpaid job in the entire world. Go take a look at pictures of any president when elected to office, and then look at pictures of them after their first term. Clinton and Bush Jr. are excellent examples of this. See if they aged more than 4yrs during that time. You and I couldn't imagine the decisions the President needs to make on a daily basis. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  7. I completely understand. "Separation of Church and State" as it is now refered to is designed to keep Government out of religion. It is not designed to keep religion out of government. THe government members have a right to worship, pray, put up a nativity. The separation clause is to protect religion from Government infringement. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  8. What is your take on this situation? ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  9. Oh well, we could have started a bonfire, buy some beers and sing kumbaya.... I think shiny happy people would have been more appropriate. Some people in america are guilt ridden over the past. Me? No. Did you know NH is the only state in the union to celebrate VJ-day? Why is that? Do we forget what Japan did to the USA, and how many men were lost fighting WWII? A war which, for the most part, we tried to stay mostly out of. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  10. Why does this not surprise me? So let me get this straight - we lose 3000 civilians in a terrorist attack and that's unacceptable (we agree there). BUT "74.000 killed. 75.000 wounded" (Don't know if those are the real numbers) are acceptable civilian losses because they are of another nationality or because we were at war with them? Somehow I don't think you'd be singing the same tune if you were from Japan OR if they'd struck here first (civilian nuclear attack I mean). Do unto others.... Did the action have the desired result: Yes Was it worth the price of our souls: No IMO, civilian attacks (intentional) of any kind be it terrorism/war/whatever are unacceptable and cowardly. Yes, maybe it's a bit naive, but morally I have no doubt it's right. Blues, Ian So let me get this straight - we lose 3000 civilians in a terrorist attack and that's unacceptable (we agree there). To avoid civilian casualties was NOT and option for either side. Maybe you forget the Blitzes on London. Conventional weapons in WWII were released by the 10s of thousands merely to destroy one building. They had an extremely bad kill ratio when it came to dropping bombs. Also, the intent of a Nuke at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was not to "Kill Civilians", it was to completely destroy the 2 largest military manufacturing plants in all of Japan. Civilian losses were to be expected. Prior to the Nukes, Tokyo was fire stormed several times, killing more innocent civilians than Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Over 100,000 were killed in one night over Tokyo, but that is often forgotten. Say what you will, but Firestorming Tokyo didn't get them to surrender, and dropping a nuke over Hiroshima didn't get them to surrender either. What options do you think there were? ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  11. BTW - Here is a quote from John Kerry in 1998 This Week on Feb. 22, 1998, when Saddam was harassing U.N. weapons inspectors. "We have to be prepared to go the full distance" to disrupt Saddam's regime, Kerry says. Cokie Roberts asks him, "Does that mean ground troops in Iraq?" Kerry replies, "I'm personally prepared, if that's what it meant." ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  12. The Math is true!!! Louie Anderson does in fact have more of a gravitatinal influence on Earth. As to your GW comments. Yes the earth is warming, but do not State a FACT, which you can not back up. It is NOT a fact that mankind is to blame for global warming in the past two decades any more than it was a fact that Humans caused Global Cooling in the 1970's!!! ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  13. Thank you for articulating so succinctly my garbled question/statement regarding the 'socialism' of universal health care. The US psyche has some weird issues with liberalism being a dirty word. Having spent the evening studying stuff that 9th graders read in US history I find the gung-ho, free-market, right to do as I please because its in the goddamn DoI that I have unalienable rights attitude even more funny now I have discovered how very liberal the main inspiration for the DoI was. Don't confuse Liberalism with Socialism.... However, I don't like either word. They are both Dirty to me IMO you are misinterpreting the DoI. You are looking at it with a social slant. Hey, you are aloud to, it is free for interpretation I guess. The DoI IMO speaks of the inalienable rights simply as saying every man has an Opportunity (an equal one) to be someone or do something without Gov intrusion. What is implied, however, is that though we all start off equal, and have equal opportunity, not all of us will take advantage of those opportunities. It is up to the person, not the government to succeed in life. The Governments only real obligation is to protect Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness IMO meaning the government says... You are free to do what you want, and we will protect this nation, to keep that freedom alive. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  14. Yup, because they are british national!!! Unlike the enemy combatants on the battlefield. Just like John Walker Lihnd(Sp?) who was an American fighting with the taliban. He was caught and brought back to the USA for a trial. BUT I GUESS YOU MISSED THAT POINT. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  15. There are many Canadians on DZ that always praise the public health care system of their country. I have always disagreed with the Idea here in the USA. Just curious what the Canadians think of this possible change (IN Quebec at least) in the future. http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20050808/wl_csm/ocanadarx_1 ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  16. First ten bombs exploded in 4 commuter trains killing 191 people. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3597885.stm Then a new government is elected. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3636599.stm Then spain announces that they are pulling all of there forces out of Iraq. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3637523.stm Appears to be effective in this case. But here is the Irony.... After Spain pulled out, there were over 5 more plots to "Blow SHit Up" in spain by Muslim extremist. That is documented. They were broken up by authorities. That was the whole point.... If you give them what they want, they will ask for more. Do your homework! ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  17. Along the enitr border if bid on by private companies say 35 feet high.... I would guess in the neighborhood of 20 Billion. That is roughly $60 for every person in the US. I can't speak for everyone, but if on my tax form next year there was a secion which said $60 border security fee, and I knew it was going there... I would have no problem with it. The thing is too, you don't need a fence on the whole border. If we did 5 miles on 5 miles off, 5 miles on, 5 miles off etc... But kept the sam numer of border patrol agents.... It would be twice as effective as it is now. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  18. Ummm think you didn't read his post darius.... Unless you are saying all muslims are terrorists? Which one is it? Because he was talking about Muslim Terrorists/ Islamo-faciasts. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  19. LOL.... Had to throw France in there somehow! When you say "Everything we Have" do you really mean Everything? What if it was a terror cell that lived in Belin, and we knew they were there somewhere. Would you make Berlin a glass factory? ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  20. Again, this would be retailiation for a Nuke or chemical attack on the USA.... You don't thinkk that enough of the Islamic community would then work to prevent any such attack from occuring? ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  21. I told you I am not going to argue the point here. But again, if you think the reason there isn't a wall on the border is because we don't have the money ... then you are completely crazy. "We can't put a wall up on the border people because we are fighting a war abroad!!!" Weak arguement. There isn't anyone/thing on the border because our politicians and president are PUSSIES when it comes to upsettign the Minority Vote. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  22. I do.... Like a senator (or congressman said the other day). Take away from them what they hold dear. It is a good deterance .... Put notice out to all terrorist: If any attack on the US by Nuke or Chemical weapons occur. We will retaliate by destroying all your holy sites. It is a tough stance, but it is tough to fight an enemy with no home and nothing they hold dear except their religion. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  23. Only in America would some one use an interview on FOX and what he sees on Cops to shape his thoughts and impressions of international terrorism.... Maybe you will want to reread the thread. It seems to me that Wendy made the comparrison. But you will believe what you want. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  24. You are off by about an order of ten. The real numbers are closer to 100,000 killed by him during his rein. Even so, the -minimum- number of estimated kills by coalition forces is around 8,000 with a median estimate of 100,000 with an addition of over 1,700 US deaths. I dunno man, containment seems have worked a HELL of a lot better than what we're doing right now. I think you are off!! you are only counting the Kurds he killed. Do some reasearch. If you want to count what the US has killed during a war, then you must count what Iraq has killed during a war too. Over 500,000 died in Iran due to the Iraq Iran war. 100,000 kurds killed. And 100 of thousands other iraqis over the years. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
  25. You are making me laugh.... you said "with the newly formed (whenever that may be) Iraqi government". DO you not read the news, watch the news or anything like that? Also, Ask yourself this. What is the purpose of any government? You obviously don't understand that it is their job to look out for the best interest of the country. You will not find a country where that is not the case. You are going to be disappointed in life if you keep looking for it. ----------------------------------------------------- Sometimes it is more important to protect LIFE than Liberty
