  1. I'm using Sony Vegas Platinum 9.0. DV footage. When I render using the "make a movie" button, the program separates the audio and video files, but then allows the footage to be automatically imported into DVD architect via a handy pop-up screen when the render is finished. When I choose "render as" and select Mpeg-2, the audio and video files are not separated. I assume this file can also be imported into DVD architect, although I haven't tested that theory. What is the purpose of separating the audio and video files? Is there some efficiency or quality reason for doing so? It seems that things would be much nicer if you could just work with one combined audio/video file. Thanks for any help!
  2. Ow! God Dammit! LOL.
  3. Why would auto focus cause shake problems? I assumed the only downside to auto focus would be slow focusing where the picture is out of focus for a second or two.
  4. Even better, put it on a six-foot pole and chest mount it to the student. That way the cameras are completely out of the way.
  5. First, import the files into Vegas, then drag them from Vegas onto the timeline. If you're trying to drag from your desktop to the timeline, that may be your problem.
  6. That's shady, and kind of ticks me off. What was the store?
  7. Nope. Wouldn't go anywhere near it. TI is on his own.
  8. You're not missing it. It can't be done. Bummer, I know.
  9. I still want to know how this toggle got "stuck". I've packed tens of thousands of tandem mains (mostly Icarus), and I NEVER used the snap. Not once did a toggle get stuck. So I'm confused and a little concerned about this malfunction. Please elaborate. I don't want to flame, just want to understand.
  10. I expected there to be some issues with "for hire" usage and the like. But I thought there might be some more leeway for things like personal YouTube mixes. I really don't see how the record companies are going to deal with this in the years to come. I mean, how do they deal with a mash up of a mash up etc.? They'll get screwed. They'll fight a good battle, but they can't beat the technology. The smart ones will adapt and find new ways to gather revenue. The not-so smart ones will fold and go away. I find no fault with You Tube at all. They're only covering their own ass. Willful, contributory infringement is a bitch. Record companies will go after the deepest pockets possible - and Google has some pretty deep pockets.
  11. Knowing my DZO, he wouldn't pay a penny. For my own use, I would probably pay $50-75. If it cost any more than that, I would rather find a few songs under a Creative Commons license.
  12. Thank you. Is PA different from Ultimate S? And if so, what will the price be when it is available?
  13. Ok, so Production Assistant is made by VASST. But the VASST website makes no mention of it that I can find. What is the deal? Why is it included and mentioned in the $80 video? Is the video already outdated?
  14. Yep. Terrible indoor footage. This is not an indoor camera. I'm also worried about low-light skydives.
  15. How would you do that if not BD? Do you mean using a high res mpeg file playable only via pc?
  16. Thanks! So who knows what "Production Assistant" is and where it can be found? Is it part of Vegas Pro? Also, what does Ultimate S offer in addition to Production Assistant if anything? I watched the VASST tandem editing video, but still have many unanswered questions...
  17. To me the video looks much better with the steadyshot off. Steady shot makes it obvious that there is some cpu manipulation going on. It just doesn't look right. It looks more real and natural with steadyshot off. Did you have the wide angle conversion turned on?
  18. Thanks for the comparison! I haven't jumped the cx100 yet, but it's good to know that the cam gets your nod for tandems. :) Just a thought: Is it possible that one of the Raynox lenses is a bad copy? With SLR lenses at least, sometimes you get a lemon. Did you try interchanging the lenses? Doesn't it seem odd that a camera would cause an increase in noticeable lens deficiencies? I can understand the different field of view - that could be a function of where the threads are located relative to the sensor and/or front camera lens element, and whether a step down ring is used, but the CA? That seems odd.
  19. Right, 64 bit is necessary. Don't most motherboards these days handle several hard drives (i.e. raid controllers)?
  20. Nice. Can't wait to hear about it. Can I ask a couple questions about your setup? Is that a laser pointer mounted to the top? is that a UV filter on the cx100?
  21. I can't find a mention of "Production Assistant" anywhere at sonycreativesoftware.com or in the Vegas Pro 8 manual. Is that app part of Vegas Pro, or is it an add-on?
