  1. Many couples open a joint account for general expenses while retaining their own personal private account. Their paycheck goes to the individual account and they transfer some money to the joint account at the beggining of the month and they plan the monthly budget accordingly. Even if she doesn´t work and she doesn´t contribute to the joint account your friend can retain the extra money in his individual account instead of giving her full access to the whole paycheck. Of course it would only work if the joint account has a debit card and not a credit card. This is only a quick fix while they work out the real problems.
  2. I think you mean that the poor of america lives better than the poor of the rest of the planet. If so, i tend to agree. However to some american dude who has to work 14 hours a day and still doesn´t make enough money to provide for his family the whole month will not help much to know that some people in some country he cannot even locate in a map has to walk 30 Km to get water... Especially if across his town there is others who works 4 hours and drive Mercedes. It is a matter of relativity and perception. That is what keeps many people going, that their situation may be only temporary and that if they work hard enough they will be able to work only 4 hours and drive a mercedes, but i think those "opportunities" are overstimated. It is just not that easy and rich people know it. A clever politician could spread the word that those opportunities to increase the quality of life are being hampered by (communism, facism, socialism, whatever) to further their agenda and rally everybody to support him.
  3. Maybe not at the moment but that can/will change (see china). Besides, your middle class is disappearing so although the country may not be in an economic depression most people may be as society polarizes creating more poor people than rich people. Actually yes, to the point that a good trick some politicians use is to label the opponent of unpatriotic if they don´t comply with their agenda. That only works with extreme patriotism/nationalism. It is possible to reverse it but very unlikely, almost utopic. You may change dems or reps but the lobbies behing will side with whoever you choose. Diferent politician, same politics. It is like a Mr Potato. You can change the nose the eyes and the shoes, but it will be the same Mr Potato.
  4. If you think that to annihilate a sovereign country is bad, what would you call actually annihilatinga s sovereign country? (ie Iraq by the U.S.A, and don´t come with the old it is diferent bs)
  5. Here in Spain i haven´t heard anything about that and i read regularly the newspaper. Can you provide a link to that info? We know where AQ got the dynamite to blow the trains and it was not ETA related. We also know that ETA stole in France over 300 guns and dynamite several months ago, my guess is that those recently stolen explosives were used on the airport this time. I haven´t heard anything regarding ETA helping AQ or viceversa. I would say it is highly unlikely since both groups do not share a common goal.
  6. In Franco´s time, all Spain was opressed (all Spain that did not support Franco) and Pais Vasco was even more opressed if possible due to their diferences. They were not allowed to speak their language or express their culture. ETA was more than a terrorist group an insurgent group for their target was mainly Franco´s supporter. Very few supported ETA because of the collateral damage to innocent people but they were seen in a diferent light for their goals were seen as somewhat fair. Now it all has changed, they can speak whatever they want, express their culture however they want and the old ETA members are no longer with eta (too old, dead or retired) The new ETA (Since Franco´s death) has changed their goals and has lost support from almost everybody. It is wrong to say that they want independence because it is not what they want. What they want is what they call "Derecho a la autodeterminacion". Basicly it means to be able to decide wether they want to be independent or not. But they don´t want to be independent because they cannot afford it. It is similar what is happening in Cataluña, they want all the benefits of belonging to a country without taking part in the expenses. That and more power for the regional leaders. However Pais Vasco resorts to terrorism because Pais Vasco does not have the political strength due to demographics that Cataluña has. Go figure how ridiculous their claims are that not only they want the "so called independence" but also they want that "independence" for Navarra who mostly don´t want anything to do with Pais Vasque and a part of south France because they consider that historically all that was Pais Vasco. (Like Spain can grant them a part of France) The reason why Spain doesn´t give them the "Derecho a la autodeterminacion" even if they wouldn´t want the independence is because maybe they wouldn´t get it now, but who nows in the future and because the richer parts of spain would want the same and then no one would pay taxes to help the development of the poorer parts of Spain.
  7. Please, do it right now before you post another one like the one you just posted... ETA is not linked to AQ other than both are terrorists groups, and the train bombings were not done by ETA, they were done by AQ. And claiming otherwise was what costed Aznar the Re-election.
  8. It surely helps if you follow the link and read the article, or at the very least the highlights.
  9. Me thinks you are playing devil´s advocate here. Surely you realize that all of your examples are more or less skidiving related. If we were in a church i could see how there could be a group who pray to Jesus and another who pray to the Virgin Mary (although somehow i think that would shed some blood). I group of people praying in the DZ makes as much sense to me as a subgroup in the church only with people who besides being Christian skydive. As i said before subgroups related to the main group are normal and to be expected, like when in martial arts they broke down all the participants in a championship in gender and weight categories. However i don´t get why anyone would think than a boogie that atracts straight people and gay people would be bad. IMO it would be bad if it was a straight only boogie or if the gays expected the straights to convert or somehow separate themselves from the heterosexuals. Well maybe you have a better word than alienated, that is what happens when English is not your first language and everybody insist in discuss semantics with you. My opinion is that there is some topics that are sensitive enough or polemic enough to be left alone in public or practiced at home, and religion is one of them. It is polemic enough that few to none people will be in the middle for either you believe or you dont, and people tend to get very vocal about it.. It is a sort of "with us or against us" topic and hence my use of the word "alienate" Religious people have filled their lifes with religion so much that they may not conceive a life void of Jesus, but there is. Myself as an example, prefer not to be around people who have a record of judging other people believes and pity those who do not believe in the same things than them. I will not be the one who complains to the DZO, and i will leave them alone, however i do not aprove, and that is called tolerance. I do not aprove but it will not be me who does anything to stop them. I would have liked for them to show that much tolerance with janet jackson´s breast and with muslims praying in airports terminals. Long Life to hipocrisy.
  10. i am still skeptical, If we are going to take the bible as true the Virgin Mary was a woman (Genes X X) and Jesus Christ was a male (Genes X Y) so parthenogenesis doesn´t look possible as someone would have had to provide the Y gene. Maybe someone more knowledgeable about science can enlighten us...
  11. No. I'd probably feel amused, but not alienated. Neither would I, but you get my point don´t you?
  12. I am sure they wouldn´t do it to alienate others, however that is what would happen. Some of them would join them , and some of them would get away from them because they don´t share their believes, making yet another division among a group of equals (Sorry for this comunistic idea that we are all equals ) I just don´t think it is a good idea to polarize an homogeneus group (Skidivers) in severel subgroups based on religion, race, or sexual orientation. No, If you saw a group of people engaged in an orgy in the Dropzone would you feel alienated? There is some things that are best left to the intimacy of a room, a church, or at the ver least your own house. Religion and sex are just some of them. In my book Yoga is not controversial enough to be among those.
  13. Well, you usually do not post on Speakers Corner to look for help. That is bonfire. Most of those who post religious topics a la "I am a christian and proud of it" are looking more or less for debate I don´t know where you get that i am trying to change anyone. Unless you think that being a Christian is making a show of your religious ideas. Anyway, do you honestly think that a dropzone (either a real one or a web page) is the right place to look for people to pray with? I would go to a church for that I am sorry you took it that way, but to some people the Force is the driving power behind the Universe. and to me that holds as much water as those who believe in the FSM or in God or Jesus. I think that if you want respect for your believes, you should start respecting other people´s believes. Or do you think that you are any righter than a Muslim, a Jew, a Jedi, or a flying spaguety Monster worshiper? I find a lot in common between the really outspoken Christians (Usually newborn Christians) and my 40 years old gay friend who just recently discovered he likes men and he pretends now that he is more gay than those who have liked men since they were teenagers. Now he regards lesbians pejoratively as "muff divers" because they don´t like penises and he feels persecuted if anyone don´t find enjoyable having something up their asses. I am not saying the original poster or you are like that, but i have found way too many religious people that behave in that manner. Although those people may feel persecuted, they are not, fortunately there is medication for that.
  14. Cannot you just pray by yourself? I mean, that thing of praying together and doing it in the dropzone, unless you are having problems with your reserve i think is just a way to alienate others. May the Force be with You.
  15. Personally I would like to check that IP you are coming in on.. OH..... And when the MAN says take it to PM's.... that is what they are there for... BUT YOU are the one who copies the PM's back into the public forum....otherwise I would REALLY tell you how I feel about your personal attacks. Dont worry I would NEVER post some of the PM's YOU have sent. Its called INTEGRITY. Integrity would be being respectful to any servicemember but it seems that it is conditional to their respective political views. . Would that apply to Hitler's SS too? Of course, he was in the military, you can add Franco and Pinochet to the list of those who we are to be respectful to. As a matter of fact, Isn´t Chavez a member of the military in his country? Does the Queen of England hold any honorary military title for being head of state? Hey Juanesky, pay respect to Hugo Chavez and queen of england, will you? Respect is something you earn, no something you get for free when you sign with the military.
  16. What can I say.......... The wifes a Catalan nacionalist LoL That explain all, My girlfriend is from Polland and she insist that Poles don´t have huge heads... Oh Well, whatever... If you want to piss her off tell her that Catalan is just a mere dialect of Castillian.
  17. I think i will have to sign you for geography 101 if you think that cataluña and pais vasco are separate entities from spain. They just talk funny, thats it.
  18. Your sig line is very scary. Do you really believe what that "are you a good person" link sais? It only incites fear on the people, according to that page i am going straight to hell, however i consider myself a good person as i try to live a decent live and not hurt others. I think those who made that web page are horrible people because they only want to control others by fear and that is bad. How i hate righteous people!!! I wish born again christians would realize that i don´t have to be wrong for them to be right. They can be right as well as i don´t give a damn about what they think.
  19. I will go for a whole month and any possible watermark removed with photoshop. Anyway, how dangerous that machine will be? X-Ray is suppose to be an ionizing (spelling?) energy and not too god for your health as it can break down DNA and provoke tumors, etc. The ocasional X-ray is okay as the ocasional PET (radioactive) but i wonder how the frecuent fliers will feel about it.
  20. I wonder if the IED below the Humvees are the rightful response that the Iraquis offer to the U.S for the state sponsored looting going on.
  21. He may be a one man rampage because it is very politically UNcorrect to not glorify the U.S army, so he may not be very popular. But there is many people who do not glorify an army (any country´s army) only for the sake of patriotism. Anyway, what general wants an inteligent or very well formed soldier? Since most jobs in the army do not require to know how to do a Fouhrier Transformed they prefer guys who follow orders and do not take the risk that anyone start do some thinking of their own in the heat of the battle.
  22. Anyway, why are you guys trying to convince us that ON AVERAGE the military doesn´t have a lower IQ. It would be like saying that on average college kids are as fit and/or strong as soldiers. That is not the case. (talking always on average) Tough shit, most military personnel are not paid to think, only to obey, so being really smart comes as a plus, not as a necesity. Samething with fitness and college kids. I just don´t get why people want to make other believes that soldiers are some sort of superheros both, smart and fit, not that it is not possible on individual cases, but not on average. Mathematics don´t lie.
  23. I think you are wrong. When i was living in the U.S (back in the early 90) A recruiter came to our high school and he personally told me that you had to be a U.S citizen to join. But i guess that Juanesky knows it better. Or maybe the recruiter was lying to me... It doesn´t get any more ambiguous than that. Care to provide a link.... You haven´t read the article i posted have you? The U.S inmigration department clearly states that you do not need to be a U.S citizen nor need to have a HS diploma. It does talk about the ASVAB score but since they don´t say the score you need to get to join that test does not reflect how smart you have to be for being let in. Please do read the article (it is not too long) and then we can discuss the matter. Oh, come on, that is why it was necesary affirmative action towards black U.S citizens, because there is no racism... Sometimes a wonder if you are truly living in the U.S By the way, we only call Sudacas those South Americans that come illegally, get in their guettos and give trouble while joining the "latin kings", "ñetas", "dominicans don´t play", etc. and do not try to adapt to our way of life. My girlfriend is not an Spanish citizen and she has never had any problem whatsoever, even more she is quite happy with how she has been treated by everybody. But of course she came to spain legally and willing to earn a living working hard. I honestly don´t know why your family and your friends have had any trouble. I know plenty of people from South America and most of them are very happy. (If not they wouldn´t stay) I bet those million mexicans who went on a strike in the U.S recently did it because they were being treated very well... Come on Juanesky, i have been living in the U.S. I have seen it.
