  1. While we're at it, let's take away alcohol and fast food, since we're a leader in drunk driving and obesity. 'Kids' are not law abiding citizens if they steal, especially firearms, which you must be 18 to own/carry. In most (if not all) states, it's illegal to bring a firearm even remotely close to school property - law enforcement/military excluded. Sorry, but this kid wasn't law abiding. You may want to read the rest of that link you posted. From the link you referenced: In any country that has banned handguns/gun ownership, like Oz, UK, etc, you will see rising levels of crime. UK now leads the western europe for muggings, and gun deaths. Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  2. Actually, I seem to recall reading about a town that mandated that every citizen have a firearm. Crime was reduced significantly. If someone else recalls the details, please post. I'll see what Google turns up... J Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  3. That's actually pretty creative, especially for someone who's native language isn't English! Justinb138 is right though - you have some issues! I figured you'd tear my last post apart, with all my weak attempts at humor and all... Hopefully this is the end of this 'train wreck'. I have to confess, I'll be watching for you to start another thread, though! Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  4. Actually I decided not to go at the last minute.... I'm curious to know of any developments on this guy as well. Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  5. http://www.lifelibertyetc.com/product.aspx?pid=5 Just ordered one. Love the statement... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  6. Hmmm, interesting concept. I wonder what would have happened if the school trained a couple staff members in firearms usage, armed them and posted them near the door/metal detector while students arrived at school. Granted, there certainly would have still been fatalities, but I wonder if it would have been 50-75% less if the 'school' had some way of defending itself, other than trying to simply run and hide... I saw a t-shirt the other day that said, 'Peace through superior firepower'. I think I'm going to buy one... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  7. Ooops, didn't mean to post both those... a little redundant. Got distracted with work and forgot I already responded... duh! Moderators, feel free to delete that second post.... It was pointless and redundant. Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  8. ***I think it's pretty obvious he either wasn't trained properly, or was and is just an idiot.*** Poor guy, can you imagine the rash of crap his fellow agents gave him?!?! He'll NEVER live that one down - they'll be bringing that up until the day he retires! I think the best part is when he says, 'and now I'll probably never be allowed to show guns again'. Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  9. I think everyone is being a little harsh in calling this guy an idiot. Look how nervous he is - pacing around in front of the audience, no real flow to his speech. He's probably a very competent agent, but taken out of his environment, his nervousness led to mistakes. In a high stress situation, people make mistakes. Period. I know of several incidents very similar to this that have occured over the years. These people weren't idiots, they were under stress speaking publicly, and made mistakes. One guy shot himself in the gut, then staggered off stage. Watching the video, the agent made a number of mistakes, no sense harping on those any further. Notice how much attention he was giving the firearm, and how much attention he was giving the crowd. THERE is the problem. In regards to the 'expert' comments. A police officer is an expert in law enforcement, not firearms safety. I use a computer as a tool to do my job, but it doesn't make me and computer expert. I know many police officers that never draw or fire their weapon, other than mandatory qualification. I met a Naval 'Firearms Instructor' at a gun range that was nervously trying to supervise his young friends. I know a guy who accidentally discharged a .45 round into the dash of a U.S. Marshall's car - his experience included combat with 3rd Ranger Bat. He's kind of an idiot, but the point is these people could be considered experts to a school principal that has never fired a gun. Dress any of these people up in a uniform, and poof, instant credibility. Not only did this affect the guy's career, but his friends are going to harass the crap out of him for a looong while. After watching it a few times, I started laughing my ass off! My favorite line: "Now they probably won't let me ever show guns again!" Bwahahahahaha! Gee, ya think??? 10. What if I say I'm going to 'bitch slap' someone?
  11. Or... "Dem pigs always be harassin' my baby girl, and she never do nothin' wrong. Da po po always be givin' us a hard time. It's a 'conspicuasy', I's gonna sue every one a dem fer dis. I should be able to get at least a thousand dolla!" Seriously though, I have a hard time believing the cops just came to a school and restrained a five year old without good reason. Unless this is Mayberry, where there's nothing else to do, there's got to be more to this story... Instead of consulting an attorney, maybe mom should spend the money on a counselor to find out why her child is acting this way. Just a couple circumstances that I'm wondering if the media left out to make the story juicy: Mother could not be contacted, child too destructive and unruly to keep on school grounds. Cops restrained her only to prevent child from injuring self, until mother could be found. Child has a history of disrespecting authority. Educators were tired of the mothers inaction and general lack of discipline towards child, and used opportunity to show the child (and mother) that there will be repercusions to future actions. Of course there is the possibility the media actually wrote an accurate description of the events, presenting all the facts, and not trying to stir up controversy in order to sell papers. After all, we can trust the media with skydiving stories, so why can't we trust them with everything else they write. Personally, I think they should have used pepper spray! That way, any time the little miscreant starts acting up in class again, the teacher can just pull a little can of spray out, and ask, 'ya want some of this?!'. Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  12. I've ordered books on coping with it... Like you, I don't want to be medicated, but can't stand some of my less desirable traits that I've had pointed out to me.... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  13. What was the question, again? Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  14. I think this is all a little bit extreme. What ever happened to sitting down and discussing safe sex and the proper use of condoms???? I think my neighbors dog is gay. I saw a condom hanging out of the his butt the other day. At least he's being safe about it.... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  15. Not trying to be rude, but I don't care enough to look it up. I have to say I've never seen a swirlie, but I've given and received quite a few noogies growing up. How many times do I need to explain to you that it's a joke. I keep bringing it up out of humor. A year from now, if you're still around, I'll probably still be bringing it up. Not because you are 'intellectually lazy', but because the statement is funny. No, I didn't 'miss you', because I haven't thrown anything back at you... your imagination is bordering on paranoia. Yes, it is a subjective opinion. I don't know who's quote this is, but 'Sometimes you can't see yourself clearly, until you see yourself through the eyes of others'. It's just something to think about. You've dissected the definition of 'suicide'. That's what has everybody so frustrated. It's not the argument that people are taking issue with, it's how you distort (ie dissect) definitions of words in the argument. Your argument fails one of the most basic logical constructs in philosophy. This has nothing to do with conformance in society - the constructs date back to Aristotle. You couldn't get the square peg in a round hole, so you made the hole square, and still argue that it's a round hole. When we all look at you like you're crazy, you claim that we're not using our imaginations - and state that the hole is still round, but has only taken on a square appearance.... Thanks, I'm flattered! The sheep don't complain much either. Actually I'm pretty sure they enjoy it - they've been getting easier to catch. Even picking my nose requires a certain level of intellect. So yes, technically you are correct. Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  16. Ok, since Ying is taking so long to post, I'll respond to this message again. Have you heard of Larry The Cable Guy? If he can get away with saying, 'That's funnier than a retard eatin' hot wings', then I think you're ok. Larry's done pretty well for himself, so the Big Guy upstairs must have some semblance of a sense of humor.... (I hope! ) Jeff ps- what are we all doing in this handbasket, and why's it getting so hot in here?! Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  17. Oh.... I read it now.... Damn... I'll tell you what, I'll just set 'em up, and you hit 'em out of the park, sound like a plan? Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  18. That's for all the 'How many seconds between groups?' jokes!!!! Jeff ps- Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  19. Oh man... you're going to hell for that one! I'm probably right behind you for laughing though! Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  20. Noogies and swirlies are sophisticated in their own right! I only brought them up once, BTW.
  21. Well, he hadn't pointed it out at the time I responded.... was just trying to help.............. Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  22. Yup, another novel filled with words nobody ever uses. I'm so sick of the word 'polemecize'.... I wonder is she's figured out what I meant when I asked if she could throw a spiral. I don't think noogie and swirlie are in the dictionary either. I wonder how far she'll go to try and figure out what I'm saying! This thread reminds me of the time in college my room mate and I were shocking ourselves with a stun gun. It was pointless, painful, and in the end, we felt stupid for continuing to do something that totally sucked! Just like this thread! At least the stun gun left us with a funny story to tell later in life.... Oh well... intellect (or lack thereof) is getting me nowhere on this thread, so it's time to have some fun! Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  23. I agree 100% with your opinions. I love my PC109 because I don't just use it for skydiving. It's tiny, and in daylight conditions the image is pristine. Low light filming lacks a little though, and the external firewire gets old after a while. Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  24. Not quite accurate. My PC109 has an A/V jack for connecting to a TV. You are correct in stating that the firewire and USB ports are in the base. It also has a LANC connection for the cameye. One trivial thing I like about the PC109 is it acts as a $600 web cam as well! I actually use it occassionally on Yahoo Messenger. Works well! Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? 25. Funny how you should mention that. To add a few more facts (I was visiting the DZ that day) to the story, he spun it up and cut it away. He called the situation a 'violent downplane'. Prior to jumping, he was trashing the 'skygods' at The Farm for telling him that he was going to kill himself under that canopy. I met a few of the folks from The Farm at the Pink Mafia Boogie a few weeks ago, and they were all very cool people (can't wait to visit soon!). Anyway, that was my first hint. On the way to altitude, we were discussing exit order, and he said he'd be freeflying, and not to worry about him under canopy, because 'I'm jumping a Diablo 135, I'll be the first one on the ground'. For all I knew, he was an experienced regular... I could only shake my head when I saw him totally biff in his reserve landing (I wonder what THAT was loaded at). Needless to say he didn't get his reserve repacked, so he'll be trying to track down a rigger (or repack himself) sometime soon. As he was leaving, he made it a point to stop and tell me he'd see me at Dublin. I sure hope not... I remember thinking 'there's gonna be a story about this guy by the end of the day'.... I had no idea it would be after the first jump. If you ask me, the worst part of the situation was the fact that he had his two young daughters there watching him. I can only imagine the scene if he would have gone in.... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
