  1. I work on jet's for a living and feel you're pain. Some nights if I'm messing with fuel I come home and my wife can smell me before she see's me. Here are a couple tips that I use. Clothes- I take a bucket with hot water and a degreaser and wash and rinse them in the bucket. Try to do this a few times and then throw them in the washer with hot water and detergent. Should be good to go after that. But I have had uniforms that got so soaked that I just threw them out. It happens. Skin-Hot shower and whatever area's got fuel on use mineral oil. We have a lot of it at work near the first air kits in case we get Skydrol in out eyes. It helps break down the oil in the oil so it can then be washed off with soap. As for the glasses I don't know what to tell you. I hope this helped a little and good luck. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

    Tire prices

Whats the speed rating on the tire? You can look at 2 of the same brand and make of tire but 2 different speed ratings and the price will be way different. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  4. My parents knew. My dad also did his first jump on my 18th b-day. They are cool with it. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  5. *** I was there and think I'm still cleaning mud from gear. That was a great boogie but with shitty weather! If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  6. *** Only 5 hours? Hell I have flown to Italy, Germany, Ireland, Hell all over Europe to fix planes. It's not only mechanics, it's mechanics who are qualified to fix the problem and be able to sign the work off too the company standards. Sucks if your on the delay end but shit happens. 8. If I was close too you I would. I Have been trying to build a team for a while but no luck. I gave up after 2 guys I got to commit got injured. One might be done jumping forever. So I said to hell with it and I am starting to train for nationals for Canopy Pilot. I travel and train when I want to and don't have to worry about people backing out in august. Good luck finding a team and have fun. People sometimes forget that last point once they start training. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  9. Has it really gotten better or did the sex with the EX just get so bad there was really no place to go but up? If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  10. Thanks Chuck I appreciate it. When you coming back east? I don't drink like I used too but a nice "Cockatillioooo" sure would be nice today. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  11. *** Can a rigger do that or does it have to be sent back to PD for that? If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  12. *** Does that have to be sent back to PD for that or can a rigger add those? The only thing I can think is I got sloppy and let the slider slip out of position. I'm still 10 days later nursing a sore lower back from this. Advil and a heating pad have been my friend. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  13. Oh no not at all. No worries. It was when I pack it and laid it down. I would think it would still be once it went in the bag. I never got a chance to see it once I pitched. It was an instant slammer. On the second hard opening I did see the slider all the way up but it instantly came down when it inflated instantly. 14. Make a long story short. I bought a Velo 103 a couple months ago and been jumpin the hell out of it. It had a brand new line set on it when I bought it.The openings have been typical Velo openings. Some straight on heading and some where it hunts for where it wants to go but all had been pretty soft and smooth. Yesterday I was doing hop n pops out of cessna all day with no problems and on jump #8 after a 5 sec delay from 4k the things clobbered me. Instant opening BOOM! Knocked the hell out of me. Got on the ground replaced all the rubber bands since it felt like of I thought maybe I had line dump and double wrapped all of the stows. Went up again and the line stretch was longer so I took care of the line dump but it still nailed me on opening. Anybody else ever have a Velo pop them on opening? The few people I asked all said no so just wondering if anybody has what did they do to stop it. ANy help here would be great. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  15. Mine was scary cause of all the stupid shit I was doing. I went to a boogie and met up with a bunch of old friends. I was on a demo canopy which was a downsize and higher performance than what I had been jumping. Then they ask if I want to go do a demo real quick. So I had demo, new canopy with 5 jumps on it and a downsize going into a H.S. football stadium with NO Pro Rating. The ride up all I kept thinking was all of the stuff that could go wrong. I was nervous as hell. It all worked out and I landed right on the arrow on the field. Well I swooped and drug my foot over the arrow. If I knew then what I know now I would have gladly went to be ground crew and saved a few nerves that twisted. I had a perfect storm of stuff that could have gone wrong and hurt myself or someone else with. Guess I was a lucky S.O.B. that evening. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

  19. Thats really a shame. I have seen many places take pride in the machines and it shows. But then others keep pushing the envelope on MX then sit there and wonder why they have a smoking crater at the end of the runway. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  20. Big difference hitting one doing 50mph and 110mph. What I am saying is how did he know he only hit one and one didn't go into the engine and tear something up. Shut it down for 20 minutes and look. It's sounds pretty simple to me. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  21. There's no FAA requirement to report a bird strike *** No there isn't. But I can almost guarantee there is a bird strike section in the A/C manual. Usually under the "Special Inspection" section. I/E lightning, overweight landing, hard landing. Stuff like that. More than likely no damage happened but thats why you shut it down and look before hauling another load. Myself had a B/S about 2 months ago. Just a big red splatter on the fuselage and no damage. Then 2 weeks ago we had one that went into the engine core. No signs of damage in flight. No high vibrations, no fluctuations of engine parameters, NOTHING! 6 of the blades was totaled and had core damage. That turned into an engine change. It just pisses me off to hear stuff like this. What would have happened if it did get sucked into the engine and had damage and something did happen? The fed's would be all ove it and US as skydivers would be sitting here bitching asking why the feds are giving us a hard time. Well they bust our balls cause we have clearly shown we can't do it ourselves. We keep pushing things as long as there is no incident. Seems like a lot of risk for something that could have been inspected in no time at all. If no damage party on! OK rant over. It If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  22. Please tell me your joking? If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  23. OUCH! Not the first time and wont be the last time this has happened. Alitalia had one at Newark where the Captain landed nose first and buckled the fuselage. Call the Boeing recovery team and they can fix it. It will be up to the insurance company thought to decided if its worth to fix or write the thing off and scrap it. Thats a lot of damage though. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  24. No need for a fuel gauge? Who else would have ever flown a plane without a fuel gauge? *** It's done more than you think. If the system is faulting we can still send the plane out but we have to "stick" the tanks to get an actual fuel load and there are some other restrictions for us to send it with a FQIS INOP. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
  25. Not to dig up old threads but something that I did today just goes to show what can happen when you let your guard down for a couple seconds. I took about 3 years off from jumping. 6 weeks ago I did a recurrent jump with a good friend. He put me in the harness, went through emergency procedures, the normal stuff. I have been jumping every weekend since then. A few weeks ago I got my camera helmet back up. Put some new digital toys on it and started filming again. I got about 250-300 camera jumps and just hit 1600 total jumps today. I was filming a 4 way team today. Nothing special. First thing, walking to plane I find my reserve handle damn near falling out of pouch. Strike 1. Taxing out I went to lower the door and it slipped and it slammed so then I get to listen to people bust my balls about slamming the door like I don't know. It slipped folks! Damn I'm sorry STRIKE 2. Then at 9k when I was getting ready to put my helmet on, (I use a Bonehead Flat top) for some reason I smeared my sweaty hand accross the still camera lens. Strike 3! I should have known I was about to do 1 more really dumb thing and while I grabbed my little cloth to clean the lens the light for door comes on, I throw on my helmet, secure, blue light, red light rolling, green light climb out. GOD DAMN IT! I just forgot to put on my damn goggles! So now I have a 4 way team and I need to try my best with what I got. I kept them in my ring sight with my eyes squinted you could blind fold me with dental floss. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would have been but still not fun. Kinda long story but this shows that the perfect storm of distractions can sneak up on you and really screw things up and the camera just adds 1 more element to the chaos. After that jump I packed up and drank some water, collected my thoughts and got my head out of my ass and had 5 more uneventful jumps to cap off a great day. But it was a rough start.
