Not to slam any DZs here, but having your pilot be your jumpmaster is NOT a good idea (besides being against USPA BSRs). Think about it: what happens if the dude before you gets out and you get a student in tow? The procedures call for the jumpmaster to cut the static line. How difficult is it for a pilot to keep control of the airplane, keep the airplane over the dropzone (or another suitable landing area) AND dispatch the student? What if YOU are the last student out and therefor the pilot has no help whatsoever? I would recommend going to a USPA dropzone first off, and second at least to a DZ that doesn't use the pilot as a JM. I know of at least one DZ that had their USPA membership jerked for pulling such a stunt. As was also mentioned, I personally believe AFF is a much more effective way of learning to skydive. Sure, you jumps might be cheaper now, but in the long run you will pay (both monetarily and otherwise). Just my .02 "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."

I had the same thing happen before. From the post, here is what the results were: I know you all were holding your breath waiting to find out what the conclusion to this dilemma would be. Well, I had Skytools fix the CamEye. That cost me about $20 with shipping to Sweden and it took about 2 weeks. The camera was repaired by a store in Pensacola. The place is John McDowell Electronics. They were great! They charged $65 and had it done in under 1 day. The guy that did it said he took apart the camera to remove the part. Not bad for the experience level. Here are some things to improve upon: I agree. It looks like you lost the 4-ways out the door. On the 1st one you went under. That made a cool effect, but I have the distinct feeling you were trying to film from above. Practice your exit timing. Orbiting is definitely noticeable. Try to pick a heading on the ground and keep it relative to the group. Get closer or reevaluate your lens choice, as was mentioned (a wise, old camera flyer once told me "You can never be too close, and you're never as close as you think"). Clips were in general too long. I started to get bored with them. Try to keep them under 6 seconds. (Americans have a way short attention span.) The opening credits were too long; I almost fell asleep. Keep at it. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."

Thanks for the informative response, but I don't have an owners manual. Also, my question is not what are valid voltages, but rather what should a new battery check in at? The reason I am asking is because I just got a repack and I was supposed to get new batteries. I think my rigger may have forgotten to change the batteries. I can't remember exactly what the voltage was on them before I turned it in but it seems like it's pretty close still. So, what should the voltage be on a new set of Cypres batteries? Nah Corpus isn't all that great. The beaches suck in the summertime so winter wouldnt be much better. Although it was about 75 here today. I would suggest going to Pensacola, Florida. Go jump some beach jumps at Emerald Coast. Awesome views from the air there, and a great dropzone to boot. Pensacola beaches are spectacular and right down the road is Destin with even nicer beaches. I am now officially USPA Coach rated. Thanks to everyone at Skydive San Marcos for helping with the course. Anybody want some coaching now? This weekend was a blast for me! I got my check flight done and passed. Then I finished up my coach rating. To top it all off I won the 50/50 raffle, thereby jumping for free for the weekend. Yeah it's NTSC. I checked. There are a few other companies selling it for just about $500 so I think it is possible they are still on the up-and-up and they make some kind of profit on it. I was wondering if anyone has any word on how reputable this company is. I did a search and didn't find anything about them in this forum. This has happened on multiple tapes so I know it's not just the tape. It seems to be a problem with the camera. These are frame grabs. They look this way when played on the LCD screen on the camera, when sent to a VCR or when I play them on my computer. There is a possibility of it being something to do with the night shot, but I have no clue how to fix that. I have checked the switch and it seems to be very secure. There isn't really anything that could be bumping it in the setup I have. Any other ideas?? I'm getting to the point where I'd just like to get a new camera so I don't have to deal with it anymore. I have a Sony TRV-19 with about 150-200 jumps on the camera. It's giving me trouble now. Every now and again the screen gets all blurry and green. Sometimes it works perfectly fine, but it likes to do this little trick on me a lot. Anybody have any idea what the problem is or how to get it fixed? I've had the same issue. I have the Mindwarp with a TRV19 side mounted. I'm currently jumping the Sky Elph (on occasion) mounted on top of the video. It works great. There are 2 places I know of through which they are available. I got mine from Jason Badgley. Do a quick search for Sky Elph and you'll find it.
