  1. I heard to speak of some Ninja collapses in turbulence, in DZ of Ampuria and in another DZ. I jumped Ninja 94, without turbulence, and I didn't see any collapse problem. But there was not turbulence in my jumps. See Safety Bulletin No. 02/2002, Mandatory in http://makeashorterlink.com/?U39711051 I don't like the flying and openings of the Ninja, is very flat and very hard in front risers. Also the openings is not very progressive (my opinion), hard in begin and later with a lot of snivel. The project and the ninja quality I thought very good. Roq

  3. Hi Skygod Sorry, but I think that you should have some more training jumps with cobalt and to give an opportunity to the cobalt to do in your hands that does in the hands of the people's that know it and knows how to fly with him, or learning with cobalt pilots, still before you to express a such negative and absolutely inverse opinion of the all people's that jump the cobalt. Not in recovery arch??? Don't have speed??? Suck opennings??? I Don't I know what you mean sincerely???!!! And I am not factory pilot nor I am sponsored by ATAIR!!! Roq
  4. I have some hundreds jumps with cobalt and impulse 85 and some dozens jumps with Nitro 88 and my opinion is the follow: Nitro and Cobalt both are very good soft and straight opennings but in general the cobalt have more long recovery arc, more low front risers pressure, more steep glide in full flight. Roq
  5. I have one Nitro 88, very good conditions +- 100 jumps for sale (US $750). [email protected] Roq
  6. I know some makers that can make that alteration, but I won't say who. But if you are interested ask the maker of its calote. He can agree who knows ? I don't know swopers of the professional circuit with shortened lines. But I have three canopys with shortened lines (85) with more than 300 jumps with very good results. Roq
  7. I altered and tested several canopys with short lines and same trim (eliptical 85 ft and 120ft, square110 and 252 accuracy, and kites) and my conclusions is follow: More previsible opennings but also more sensitive. More easy to keep a longer arch recovery. Slightly more fast less drag less swinging balance and pendulum flare a little more difficult to control but more long because less drag Canopy in general with same good carateristicas of the normal canopy but more sensitive outputs and inputs for jumper, and need to lose chest strap for more large anhedral curvature of the canopy. With scenery of line twist, the canopy centrifuges less but is more sensitive . All of the my canopys are short lines with same original trim. Never to use short lines of the short canopy of same model, because drastic alterations in trim and profile. Small lines should be made exclusively by the factory. Roq
  8. I have experience in Atair canopys 85 load 2.1/2.2 (350 jumps), 120 load 1.5/1.6 (20 jumps) and 150 (1.2) The openings with 85 are very good and in geral straight. When happen line twists the reason is in general the bad body position or bad pack job. The line twists is not problem. I have more 10 line twists with my 85 (because proposal bad body position and opening experiences) and have no problems for cleared it. Per times happen one or two turns in begin with the line twists, but the turns stops or they reduce the speed immediately, allowing to clear up quickly. In more of the all times the canopy fly straight with line twists. I don't have line twists with canopys 120 and 150 but I think it canopys fly normal with line twists and light load. With other canopys the line twists can be dramatic (I have experience this). The body are centrifuged and spining don't stop anymore. Your body stay to the same height of the canopy. The cut way is solution for it. Roq
  9. If you don't have good openings with cobalt is better you check your pack job or number of jumps the canopy. I have one friend with a broken rib that chose my Atair 120 for jumping with broken ribs because very soft openings and very soft landings. I have four hundred of jumps with cobalt and impulse 85, and a 40 jumps with 120 and all openings are soft. I never had a hard openings. Roq
  10. I tested Ninja (94) for 1.85, see my opinion in Drop Zone. Ninja is not ground hungry, even in full flight has a slope plane. The fabric is not French that as I know. I thinks that is English (Blue Fabric) and has same density, or more than it USA ZP fabric. Roq

    PdeF's NINJA

Hi Jacobwaerness I put my opinion in this forum and I have certainty of being sincere about the Ninja: Low recovery arc More pack volume than normal ZP 9 cell canopys Flat glide angle Difficult swoop Very hard front risers pressure Easier to fly back to the DZ from a bad spot Good workmanship Good flare Roq
  12. I don't know that cobalt are stopping to sell In Europe. But is normal option for Impulse because a little difference low price. The Impulse canopy as cobalt clone by Atair with a differences is only normal top skin panels in Impulse. I jump Impulse and Cobalt (75, 85 and 120) in Europe and I am very happy. RS
  13. I, with my cobalt 85, load 2,1 to 2,2 don't have never twitchy and oversteering, by comparing with stilletos or others eliptical canopys. My glide ratio is best than any other canopy that I know. I be of the few jumpers to arrive to DZ when have long spot. My 85 with rear risers input, have better glide ratio than stilleto 120 with equal suspend weight. I have opportunity, for several times, of doing this comparison. Besides the cobalt doesn't have problems with turbulences and the openings are the best than I know. roq
  14. Yes. I understand. In my PC I used low porosidade mesh... roq
  15. Dave I agree with you. The lower porosity mesh, and size of the hole can be reasons for hesitation PC. My two sizes of PC compared are exactly same construction type, same hole same mesh roq
  16. I have more 1000 jumps with 24" ZP PC without problems I have + - 100 jumps with 21" ZP PC with 10 hesitations because burble delay, only in flat body opening position. In my opinion the 21" is good in openings but bad in insuflation.
  17. The xaos 21 is a tricel canopie. Tricel canopies are more rigid foil compared with normal canopies. And rigid wing = ocasional rigid opening. The tricel canopies are good for swoop and flare, but having problems relationship with ocasional hard openings. The tricel, in my opinion, is not good for all jumps, is good only for low height jumps. The few adicional tricel amount performance don't justify the more weight, more pack volume, more hard openings, more price and more stress. Canopies like the cobalt can have performance similar than tricel canopie if driven by pilots with training equal than factory pilots, and good hands. roq
  18. the psico-pack are goog for all main canopies!!! You can pack like psico-pack, but don't need roll pack job for to place in D bag you can make normal S-fold, and you have soft and straight openings.
  19. The Nitro is fun and secure canopie, very good openings, flat glide angle! The Cobalt is fun, secure, high glide angle, more fast, very good for swoop, very good for long flare, very good openings, low front risers pressure. The best canopie for swoop and flare. roq
  20. I flew a Nitro 88 , load to 2, and my opinion is the following: Good and straight openings Easy packing (ZO Gelveanor fabric) Glide ratio: very flat Hard front risers pressure Short arc recovery Easy landings The Nitro is not a winner for swoop competitions, it is a very entertaining and safety canopie, for me it is a toy. roq
  21. In my ipinion, the 21 " ZP PC is good in canopie openings but not for the PC inflate. The 21 " PC have tendency for PC in tow, because the low volume of fabric and relative wind area decrease the possibility for PC inflate. I had several hesitate PC with the 21 ". I have any experiences with PC 21 ", 24 ", 27 " and 30 ", and I think the best option for mains until 150 sq/ft is the 24 " ZP PC.
  22. My new Xaos

Thing there is been that Cobalt has good is the lift in the end of Flare, even with null wind. I love to surf without any wind with my cobalt 85 to 2.1 and to land smoothly in the end. Other great virtue of Cobalt is the opening. I have 350 jumps in cobal'st without any hard opening and cut away, same with line twists. roq
  24. The advantage that I see in using the packing as psico-pack, but without rolling the pack-job in the end, it is when I place the canopie inverted in the ground I can check and to organize the position of the lines and, more important still in my opinion, I don't roll the tail as in the normal prop-pack, I organize the tail as indicated in the site of Precision http://precision.aerodynamics.com/psycho/psycho_pack.htm . In my opinion when we roll the tail in the standard for-pack it is difficult we make this twice equal, in the squeeze of rolling or in number it of turns, what can give small alterations in the opening. With the system psico-pack the tail is placed in triangle, half on top of the other half instead of rolling, what guarantees larger regularity and perseverance in the opening. An opening more cybernetic we can say. I don't have pretenses of giving lessons to anybody. Just to manifest and to change opinions and experiences.
  25. I pack the canopy like the psico-pack but in final I don't rolling the canopy for to put in D-Bag. I fold the pack job in normal S-fold. Thus, the bridle is centered and doesn't leave the canopie by side.
