I have had some problems for several years. Compression in lower back and in my neck. With a strong lower back and ab work out I have been able to do tandems and maintain a good quality of life. Actually I think the tandems help me keep fit in those areas. I do some things differant than other TI's to take care of my back. Ask your doc. I have an A2 389 and it is AWESOME. It has the lightest toggle pressure of any tandem canopy I have jumped. Great openings and flight characteristics make this my favorite TDM canopy. Then they through the best price in the industry at you . I am still waiting to jump the 350 but I only expect great things from it. Sounds to me like you could use some really good canopy ckill coaching no matter what you decide to jump in the future. Most people can make adjustments in flair timing and basic canopy skills even under really fast canopys . If you survive the first 4 or 5.LOL Sounds to me like you are having problems with the whole concept of flairing. Get you advice from Advanced canopy pilots . Not 100 jump wonders. Good luck. you may need it. There is a guy with 700 jumps at my old DZ who couldnt land his new Pilot 168 loaded about the same so he sold ot to a kid with 30 jumps who has the nicest landings on it. I get tips all the time. I all ways share with my camera guy and never really talk about it to anyone other than my camera person . That being just to make sure they got tipped as well or to split it. The norm is $20 but I have gotten $100 from a guy who was scared shitless. Let em fly but I land all first timers and progression students will earn it from opening to 1000'. When I started doing Tandems I let them all help with the landing thinking if something went wrong and they got hurt it would be easy to put the blame on them. Now I believe it is better to land us own my own because I am less likely to cause an injury own my own than with their help.
