  1. I am not sure of the fee these days, thet fee was from before the you tube days when real xtream was not an editing program but an uploading tool. now it is both. contact [email protected] for more current information. 2. maybe, the dunny definately does though.. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  3. I use Realxstream for 80% of our videos. It takes 15 minutes from when we insert the footage until the burned disk pops out. That program is 90% automatic and requires no input for 13 of the 15 minutes, it also uploads the video to the interent and sends an email to the customer with a link to the video that is hosted on the realxstream server but through/on a page of your own website. RXT also contains royalty free music. The other 20% we use power director 8.0 that is because they are combintions of handicam and outside video and RXT does not quite do that, yet. It takes about the same time to produce one in fact it is a bit faster on power director at around 10 minutes but there is a need to be present the whole time, much more input required and you can only do one project at a time. On RXT you can queue up multipule projects at the same time, it will not process them all at the same time but once the burning process start on the first project the editing process begins on the second... Power director produces a .mpg of the edited video which we then upload on RXT so they get their link too. We purchased power director 9 when we got our new computer but it has more features that you do not use and creates more processes to do in order to make the same product as we do on version 8.0, you can also make mistakes with the fades more easily on version 9.0. Our machine has an i5 quad core processor, 8g ram, a gigabyte p55-usb3 motherboard and windows 7. Not the most grunty machine but quick enough. 4. i was interested in why you were interested...LOL Yes she is the performer and I am the vidiot! We represented NZ art the world meets and world cup of 2006, 2007 and 2008. She is concentrating on formation skydiving at the moment and is working towards Dubai 500, she is already accepted in the 200way sequential later this year which I believe is a more elite event, so if she does well there she should be in... after that we will continue our freestyle endeavours... In the meantime I am getting into competative swooping. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  5. For sure, I am seeing people gettin USPA coach rating with 150 jumps, that is fucking rediculous! My suggestion is to move the pre requesate from whatever it is now to 500 jumps for coach and 1000 for tandem and AFF, 750 jumps for these rating if you have 200 jumps since coach rating, or similar. AFF has much more responsability when it comes to flying skill than tandem, why it is not treated this way is beyond me. There are too many dickheads out there doing tandems and AFF that have not had the chance to learn the required skills yet. they focus on the rating from when they get thier coach ticket, when they should be out there experiencing the sport and trying differetn disciplines. Either that or make the table of skills required much more advanced. I am aware the some select individuals are ready at the pre requesates that are currently in place under the USPA system but increasingly there are many that are not. We do need instructors, but there are way too many coaches out there that are not good at flying and people are getting ratings with far too little experience. I was one of them, I got my AFF rating in Australia at 350 jumps, I was nowhere near ready but was pressured into getting it, I could have had a tandem rating only months later... These numbers were made in the 80s, we need to look at the product of our decisions and adjust the prerequesates to a more suitable level. 6. I have about 50/50 jumps on my own gear and tandem, I had a cypres in my sport gear for a short while a few years ago, but sold it when my friend had his fired on him for no apparent reason. For freestyle skydiving training with my wife I think it is a good idea as we are in very close proximity while she is doing layouts etc etc.. so I would rather one then. So about 2500+ jumps I have performed without one... why you ask? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  7. Thank you Sunrise! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  8. I do not want to derail this thread any more than I have done so already, if someone questions my integrety I will repsond, you know that and so do many others. I have had my rant in reply to someone giving me a stab in the ribs and your post that I am replying to here is obviously another designed to do the same. I will reply to your comments and will take on board any reply you may have but this is not going to turn into a tangent debate and an excuse for you to get me banned for standing up for myself... again. That was you talkng about using Go Pro's for use in commercial tandem videos, I was using a go pro for handicam and now I have discovered that 1080p mode is a similar width as a cx100 with a 0.3 lens, I use them for outside video too, I use a fibre optic cable for a cam eye... I bet we will be using DSLRs for outside video as soon as the photos are full quality, (and yes I am excited about that). So you called me ignorant, as I use these professionally. That is a dig in the ribs, I am not falling for it, you are just trying to arc me up, I find those comments totally insulting and unprofessional. Grow up a little will ya. Now back to the subject, instructing and examining instructors.... "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  9. Oh so that was an irrelevant analogy. I do beleive that if the unit had fired it would be displayed on the screen on the pre flight of the rig. And that would be complacency on the part of the jumper. Much the same as a floating reserve handle, or a damaged loop could also put a reserve over the stabaliser. If you are going to use an aad, then check the fucking thing before every jump for the sake of all of us! They can and do fail. Every tandem I do, I look at the AAD and all the other components. It takes 20 seconds to check your gear. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  10. from a premature firing? all AAD units have fired prematurely, and for that reason i choose not to use one. Unfortunately for MANY they do not have that option, they are forced by legislation to use an AAD and that AAD could kill them as much as it could save thier lives. If I am killed by gong in, then that is my fault, if I die because my AAD fired as I was climbing out then that i not my fault. I beleive students and tandems should have to use them but everybody else should have the choice. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  11. The worst are those that have a high opinion of themelves, cannot fly very well at all, be it on their belly or head, and cannot fly a parachute to save themselves. they want to be an instructor for the status. They are out there... "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  12. I own a skydiving dropzone, most of our customers are in town for one or two days and they are in New Zealand to see our beautiful country and while they are here they experience many different exciting activities. You call it a carnival ride, we call it a skydive and that is what it is, there is no getting around that. Nowdays people can try skydiving once, they are willing to pay for it and they are keen to experience it...once. There are many activities on offer, skydiving is just one of them, remember that. Most of the customers in NZ are one timers, or at lest while they are here, they hardly have time for anything other than the 5 minute briefing the jump and the ride back to the village, they are usually in a hurry to get to their glacier hike, helecopter ride, quad bikes, bungee jump... Things are different here. When we are cancelled for weather etc etc. peole cry because they cannot do their skydive here at our DZ, most are not interested in learning to skydive. We give them all the information they want if they are interested in learning and we are currently developing a larger landing area more suitable for students, our staff get free fun jumps, we will start doing students in the near future, we are planning on having a DC3 boogie (at a different location) and coupleing it with the New Zealand formation record, all our staff are sport skydivers, we are sponsoring our straff to go to events such as records and competitions... call it what you will but it seems you have a picture of what skydiving is about and that is it. Pull your head out of the sand, it is not the 80's anymore. Participation in the skydive can be as simple as being there, by being there thay are participating, some want more than that I know, bit for many simply being there is out of thier comfort zone. It is not a carnival ride it is an adventure tourism activity. Tandem Skydiving has evolved into a large industry that didin't exist 20 years ago, it has created a new facet to the industry and without tandem skydiving the sport would be in rapid decline. We wouldn't have as many turbine DZ's with great facilities and sport jumpers would b paying US$50 a ticket. Our dz was a C180 operation 12 months ago, a C185 operation 5 months ago and now we are a turbine porter operation giving free sport skydives to those that work here and offering slots to those that wish to skydive here... Without the carnies bro, our sport would be almost dead, that is an oil and $$$ thing, but tandems and the bucket listers have saved our sport. In some places the sport is shunned for the money, but here that is not the case. Give them a smile a warm welcome and show them a good time and hey.... maybe 3% of them may learn to skydive... There you go, that is a U Turn but you are getting there. What I have found with those that wish to pull the cord, is that it can produce an undue anxiety, while taking away from the experience, they are so worried about failure that they forget to enjoy the rest of it. If that is what they wanted out of the skydive... cool. but if they came to experienvce the view and/or the sensation of freefall, then just let them do that! I have seen some pull the release at altitude and we jump from 18k, I don't want to be under parachute at 18k. That is why (here) it is strictly for those that have experienced a skydive before. We advertise what we offer them, and we give them a great experience. Here are some reviews, read them and decide what you feel they placed importance on... Now I have people Like you stating that we are carnies that could care less about what our customers Really want, and i have people Like DSE telling me that our video products are less than what is acceptable Because we don't use vegas or sony cameras), yet I have nothing but great reviws from our customers. Did you notice the importance placed on the view???? would you rather these people were staring at an alti the whole time... things are different here, it is not a dusty dessert with nothing to look at, most of our customers come for the view. So we give it to them. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  13. It certainly is cool, Jeb Corliss has been posting some 3d videos on facebook, but I don't have any glasses to watch them. I also saw a sony camera that is smaller than most pont and shoots that takes SLR lenses.... so many option these days. I remember when a PC9 cost NZ$3000 you cna have a whole (outside video) setup for that now and have change to spare... "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  14. We have a fair rotation, everybody is full time and we evenly distribute the jumps, the extra altitude jumps, the handcams, the outside cameras and the free fun jumps. If soemone stands in for someone then thay get tjhe same treatments as every body else. I have been at DZ's that give priority to some while others miss out; it seems that is based on selfishness and greed, and fueled by ego. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  15. At our DZ we are lucky if they have the 30 minutes to wait for thier video before they leave town... If you live in a dusty dessert, and have locals jumping then your points are quite valid... If you live in a town that has a population of 400 people and over a million tourists per year... ... not so much. I let second time jumpers pull the release, all my customers control the parachute (unless the specifiaclly refuse) and I will explain my evey move to those that are interested. The fact remains that many bucket listers are simply not interested so you are wasting your time and energy. some just want to get over a fear of heights, some want to see the scenery, some want a rush and some are feeling too ill to even think. Don;t make these people feel inadequate...!!!! that is unprofessional. They are paying you for an experience. A good insteructor will be able to tell whether a tandem student is interested in the sport, an asshole will try to convince someone that is simply not interested in learning to skydive that they are missing out on the best activity in the world, each to thier own. Just like the assholes that try to convince people to buy videos after they have determined they do not want one. It is embarresing to watch those that push thier views on customers, if they are keen they will let you know. Respect that each individual is entitled to their own viewpoint and not every customer wantls to be an active skydiver, so respect that and DO NOT MAKE EVERYBODY FEEL AS THOUGH THEY ARE AN IDIOT IF THEY DO NOT WANT TO PULL THE CORD OR WEAR AN ALTI.... some just want to enjoy the experience without hassle. ONCE! If they want to learn they can sign up for an AFF Course. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  16. no it is not that simple, you daid they blamed every death since kennedy.... You were talking shit and the reson you talked such shit was to detract from the subject that you seem to be having trouble grasping/wish to dissolve... you said blatant lies (hidden as exagerated sarcasm) to try to defame a person with a legitemate concern. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  17. Porkey pies = lies!!! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  18. Whether it is the AAD, the design onf the container or the locton of the cutter, is irrelevant. The fact is that the system (all these things together) did not work as designed and at terminal from 750 feet you have about 6 seconds until impact. That videos clearly shows that the reserve will not be deployed fast enough to save a life in that particular instance. Argus' have saved lives, cypres' have saved lives, vector reserves have saved lives... but we have discoverd a scenario where this may not be the case. What was the result from the manufacturers from this video? I remember it being posted some time back... As far as I am aware it has been treated as a non issue, do we wait until someone goes in until it is considered an issue??? "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  19. +1 Great equipment too, rent a rig and get a oddyssey with a skyhook and a saffire... cheap refreshments, free rubber bands, free sweets and peanuts... "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  20. So also depending on what other countries have mandated and what the aviation authority in that country has written in their manual... Unfortunately many of the part 149 (or similar) organisation freaked out and knee jerked by banning the argus at the drop of a hat without the adequate information to make a correct and informed decision... This knee jerk will come accross as a wekness and it will take time for everybody to come up with an excuse of how they managed to be conjured into the banning so swiftly... The whole thing is a clusterfuck and whether or not there is a fault in the units, the action and reaction was competely flawed and wrong... So either the same treatment needs to me given to EVERY manufacturer from now on (not fucking likely) OR aviacom and all argus users deserve and apology. Being a member of the PIA will be an advantage in such a situation, but that is anti competitive behaviour and illegal in my country. Such rules should be fairly distributed and enforeced irregardless of who you are. I hope Aviacom pursues a legal battle so we get some clarification on this issue. Check out this video many of you would have seeen it before. The result (in a real life situation) would equal a dead person. It is a cypres in a vector micron, what was done???? This is very much the same result as a cutter not severing the loop = equals a fatality. Fortunately this particular result was produced in a controlled envirionment. check it out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohBxepGxIxc From that result under the same ratrionale as what has happened with Argus.... all microns with cypres should be grounded immediately..... before further investigation of the equipment.... FAIR IS FAIR! I have nothing against vector, in fact they have helped me in the past, they are good rigs and I have 2 of them, and 6 sigmas with cypres... I was just using this as an example of how this situation is not fair, and probably illegal! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  21. An misleading post to detract the topic away from the subject and into a bonfire like postwhore fest... you are talking porkie pies! "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  22. No this was not the first incident, but this incident was what prompted the banning. There is a service bulliten to replace cutters manufactured prior to a specific date that encompases those prior incidents. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  23. thats the pot calling the kettle black. Well lets see.... we know ther was a foreign object in the argus, and now we wait for the manufacturers to respond.... ... and we are still waiting. While we are waiting we can discuss the ethic involved here. One AAD manufacturer being banned while another is allowed to willingly lie about a serious accident is definately deserving of being in the same thread and while we wait for the manufacturers to repsond we are left to assume and speculate what is gojng on because we are all left in the dark... face it, the argus acted as it was supposed to and a foregn object inhibited it's function, they were subsequently banned... meanwhile.... the feet keep dragging and the cypres fly off the shelves. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  24. I just wondered what it said, who is being paranoid now... I never blamed anyone in particular for deleting... I just pointed out that there is deleting going on, others have mentioned it to me also and othere have commented about it. No gripes with you... I just find it bizzare that someone asks me about PIA members when I have no clue who they are and have no idea why anyone would think I do... The only PIA I know about is the NZPIA and anti competiative behaviour is what that company is all about... Just say'n Thanks for the clarification on the edit though. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
  25. Why do you ask me?.... and I wonder what your post said before the moderator edited it? This friggen thing gets more bizzare every day. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
