  1. The difference is, most gun enthusiasts who spend time at shooting ranges are responsible gun owners. There are a few thousand fully automatic rifles owned by US citizens, yet not a single one has been used in a mass shooting. And they are rightfully hard to get, not to mention expensive.
  2. I think I suggested this in post #1904: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=4748733;page=77;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25; ***You can own any gun/firearm that you want. However, it can only hold one bullet and a time. I think it is a great idea that is in compliance with the 2nd amendment. Jerry Baumchen It could be, until you're facing multiple armed robbers. Then you'll just have to say "okay motherfuckers, which one of you gets it? Make my day!"
  3. Then there are the hypocritical actors like Liam Neeson, Sylvester Stallone, et al, who do a lot of shooting in movies, but rail against gun violence in real life. Practice what you preach, and maybe people will actually listen. Then again, probably not.
  4. I'm 100% with you on this. There is so little understanding in the general population as to what mental health is about. For example, how many have heard anyone but politicians talking about solving gun crimes via mental health evaluations? Here's an idea... Lots of companies require a review of your social media history before they consider hiring you. You turn over your phone and home computer, give them your account passwords or however it's done. Implement that requirement in a background check for gun purchases. As for mental health evaluations being required for a gun purchase, some people can evade detection by bullshitting their way through, but you can't whitewash your social media history.
  5. Ooo look, another one... State Democrat Steve Lebsock expelled over sex harassment accusations. And he changes parties from D to R an hour before the vote to kick him out. Yeah, that shit don't fly. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/colorado-lawmaker-expelled-over-sex-misconduct-allegations/ar-BBJOnlP?li=BBnb7Kz

    Waco

Koresh was a manipulator of people who were sucked in by his charisma, and many of them died along with him. I'm not too sure about the FBI agents being idiots, but they were under orders by one of the worst attorney generals ever, Janet Reno, who incidentally, also had the Ruby Ridge and Cuban boy repatriation incidents happen on her watch, IIRC.
  7. Looks like another mass shooting was aborted, at an Ohio middle school. Kid had plans on his phone to shoot it up, with a handgun. Wanted to make an impression. Rode the school bus, and went straight to the bathroom at school... came out in the hallway with the gun, (fellow students remember seeing him but not the gun) and he went back in the bathroom and shot himself. He made an impression all right... All over the bathroom floor. There was potentially another shooting averted by an alert policeman at a school (forgot where) that had a basketball championship game and a soccer game in progress. Teenage guy was in his car with a rifle and 100 rounds of ammo. Cop got suspicious and checked him out. I think it was in Texas. Good work.
  8. http://news3lv.com/news/local/vegas-gun-range-billboard-changed-to-shoot-a-school-kid Pretty fucking ridiculous way for anti-gun activists to make a point.
  9. Just the French speaking ones.
  10. But this "old and racist" generation was part of the 60s and 70s social movement and we though racism was a thing of the past, once the old people died. Unfortunately, the old people raised their children to be the same way. And we're seeing these assholes out there today.
  11. Not always. We're still dealing with dickhead hate groups and the like, 50+ years after the Civil Rights Act was signed.
  12. You are forgetting about NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch lying about the CNN Town Hall audience attacking her. I did forget about CNN giving one of the students a scripted question for an interview to fit their agenda.
  13. So... so far we've heard about the school resource officer that was on site at the school but never went in to confront the shooter, plus three deputies who arrived and never went in until the shootings stopped. Then the sheriff is a liberal democrat blaming the NRA, instead of blaming his men for being cowards. Then there's Debbie Wasserman Schultz, whose district as congresswoman covers Broward county. I have seen left wing liberals screaming GUN CONTROL, and right right conservatives screaming LIBERAL CONSPIRACY. If I didn't know better, I'd think Debbie was sucking the sheriff's cock.
  14. Left wing stuff aside, it has been well known for decades that the eastern bloc nations, like the USSR, East Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, etc were notorious cheaters in attempts to claim Olympic glory.
  15. Apparently there was a threat of a school shooting in NH that was thwarted by a classmate of the guy that had made overtures of it happening in the near future. The two of them spent time together in a mental health camp in the recent past and were friends. She reported him to the police, who went to his place and found guns and ammo. So, to go back to my old point a day or so ago, if you see or hear something, report it. Let the school and/or authorities check it out. Every little bit helps.
  16. Being anti-gun is still political suicide. One a countrywide scale, no Democrat is going to beat a Republican by running on a gun restriction platform. It's too easy for a Republican to use that to get voters into the booths and Democrats are too lazy to overcome those odds. Depends on the districts represented. Heavy Democratic leaning districts are still going to vote in Democratic candidates.
  17. Your opinion here is evolving because you're blaming the gun. Not the culture. All the things that you think we should do could be done and it wouldn't change a damn thing. I agree. Take the guns away from society. The nutbags will find some other way to create carnage. Knives, swords, etc. Or even use vehicles to mow people down. The bigger the vehicle, the more carnage. One only need look at what happened the last few years in Europe. One incident claimed at least 80 lives. It has even happened here, in NYC. Nutbags will just find a way.
  18. The only solution to prevent shootings inside school buildings is to have double entrances, two sets of doors say 20 feet apart in an enclosed room, and a metal detector that automatically locks the inner doors when something is detected. However, the costs would be prohibitive, with bullet proof glass, reinforced door hardware, etc. Nobody is going to approve tax increases to fund these. Want armed guards? Gotta pay them too. Even then, if what I described above actually happened, gunmen will just wait until school lets out and kids walk out, or go to a sporting event for a high casualty count. You can't stop every shooting from happening. It's impossible the way things are.
  19. 5) Verify that legal gun owners have secured their weapons where it cannot get stolen or retrieved by their untrained kids.
  20. Bingo. Parents first and foremost.
  21. We are born evil. Absolute rubbish. To put it in perspective, put a kitten or a puppy in a room with a toddler, say 1-2 years old, and give him/her ZERO instructions on how to treat it. Betcha more often than not the animal ends up getting hurt/tortured/killed. Even then, it's not that they were born evil, they just didn't know any better. Their actions could be seen as evil to some.
  22. To no one in particular, I hate seeing these school shootings. But... this one could have been prevented, had the FBI done their due diligence when the perp was reported to them 5-6 months ago. I support gun rights, to a point. No one with mental issues should have a gun. If someone goes into mental treatment and owns guns, the guns need to be confiscated, either temporary until treatment/recovery is completed, or permanently. Even then, for someone as disturbed as this school shooter, I am 100% sure he would have figured something out if he could not get a gun. Wasn't there a knife assault at a school where the perp ran down the hallway with knives in both hands and slashing everybody within reach? Then there's the homemade bombs which people could put together if they find the instructions online, and they're motivated enough. Or they could just drive a vehicle into a school or large crowd for maximum effect. The main thing is identifying WHO is exhibiting questionable/suspicious behavior, and does it make people nervous that the person in question is going to do something egregious in the future? This is what students at the high school said they noticed about the shooter. Somebody fucked up. Not just somebody, but a few or several somebodies. The fucker could have been under surveillance or been watched. Now on a much happier note... This grandmother is a hero for calling authorities on her grandson, who she realized was planning a school shooting. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/grandmother-foils-teens-plot-to-carry-out-school-shooting/ar-BBJc9GA?li=BBnb7Kz THIS is what we need to do in the meantime. See something, hear something? Speak up! Call authorities. The sooner the better.
  23. To a point, I agree with that mindset. I didn't really like Trump all that much, but detested Hillary even more. It was like trying to chose between a polished turd and a shit sandwich. Trump has lasted a year and all the Dems are up in arms about it. There are some things Trump could definitely do better at, no doubt about that.
