  1. :( *hug* i think tapes and photos might be recovered? don't throw them away even if you think they are damaged permanently. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
  2. I am the night http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121107210534/disney/images/4/49/Dark_Wing_Duck.jpg :D RigerLee i had the similar feeling while driving through mountains at night. want to hear my story? how about finding a writing on the dust under the bed where nobody can possible squeeze themselves? there were many other factors that excludes human input, one of them: when you try to write on the dust the dust accumulates on a finger (or whatever is used for drawing/writing) which makes writing messy. well in my case it was written perfectly clean. i copied the text on the paper but unfortunately lost it. there was no internet back then and the writing didn't make any sense to us, just bunch of letters mashed up together. and yes i still think about it from time to time :/ 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 3. Has anyone over here heard of permaculture? Here's their solution: http://permaculturenews.org/2014/12/15/drought-proofing-california-not-in-the-news/ 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

I cracked myself up reading all of that in my attempt of cockney accent :D 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
  6. Yes also if woman is exposed to pets during pregnancy her child is less likely to develop pet related allergies in the future. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
  7. Oh I loved that TV show:) Anyways, let's sit around bonfire and have some scary fun. Have you ever encountered supernatural? Poltergeist? Ghosts? Weird unexplainable incidents? Post it here:) 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
  8. a good idea in principle, but if you do it for groceries, wash those things frequently - food can leave nasty stuff in those especially when they just simmer in the car for the next trip to the store maybe the soapy washes will cancel the recycling benefits, but better than getting food poisoning as for the rest of the post - appears we agree. I only take exception to statements that puts us "outside" of nature - I think that's a tactical misuse of words to try and affect an emotional stance. If we want to do that, I think considering us as part of nature is more effective to the message. And it's less arrogant in general. I wholeheartedly agree. I use castle soap or phosphate free (biodegradable) washing liquids/powders (my washing machine is pretty economic energy and water wise) and yes, shopping bags get washed and sunnied on regular basis:) I want to get sapindus, so far can't find an affordable option unfortunately 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 9. this is a function of most all of the world's great religions but it begs the question - is it real? or is it a survival mechanism on the large scale? (I think the real question is whether is matters or not if the results serve a function). still - it's a glaring opening for those that abuse these things for power. or for those that use it to rationalize evil acts Real or not if you are genuinely curious I guess you'll have to find it out yourself. I will tell you that it is real and someone else will tell you that its a psychopathic manic disorder :) Its all in Quran, there's podcast of tafseer of the Quran made by Bayyinah university, they show the real beauty of Arabic language, listen to that if you ever want to. 10. Fixed it for you. This isn't only Muslims, it pretty much applies to any poor and dispossessed people ruled by thugs. Unless they're so beat down that they're completely cowed, but that doesn't last long. There's always a next generation with energy. Wendy P. there is a thing called transgenerational trauma. look at all nations and ethnic minorities that suffered from colonial oppression, slavery, endless wars, none of them can fully recover from the trauma caused by the oppressor. even now in the oh so glorious 21 century. so blaming the victim that he is not "firstwordly" enough is simply not fair. what Islam gives to Palestinians, Afghans, Iraqis, muslims of Rohingya, muslims of Central African Republic, Syria, etc ? it gives them hope, it tells them that this life is temporary, have 'sabr' (patience), pray to your God and you will be among those in Paradise. majority is just like that, its suffering, praying and having 'sabr'. of course there are those who chose way of violence, its HUMAN thing, like i said numerous times. and some just go crazy, is it even surprising ? 11. I'll get so burned for this - so confirming common grounds in major religions - 1 - Christianity (God) and Islam (Mohammed) have pedaphiles - what other religions? add to list as we learn rehmwa Alexander the Great was only 18 when he lead his warriors to his first victory, so that means he became eligible to take part in battles much earlier than that, probably after puberty. puberty meant adulthood whether we like it or not. times changed, people changed. only few centuries ago women were becoming wives and mothers MUCH earlier than they do today 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 12. [url] Coreeece My opinion is not formed by TV, I don't even have a TV, I intentionally ignore news as well, unless I hear something catching my attention and I research myself on the internet. My opinion re xenophobia and islamophobia particularly originates from social networks, forums and via my friends and family living in States. BTW u asked somewhere if there's a Jesus in Quran. Yes, we believe in all prophets and messengers and all books sent before Quran with the only difference is that we believe that they were heavily altered by people, hence the final book -Quran was sent on Earth, and God promised to keep it unchanged till the day of Judgement. 13. I guess popular usage determines correctness, similar to the use of empathetic for empathic. To me it sounds ignorant. Xenophobic might be more suitable I guess 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
  14. we are part of nature - so I don't know what that means but i'm not a fan of overt efforts to destroy any species directly if we are powerful enough to directly destroy a species,,,,then we are powerful enough to mitigate the threat without destruction.. plus, evolution is powerful - destroy the mosquito,,,,just what is going to come and replace it? will it be worse for us? We are the only specie smart enough to destroy the whole planet. Do we need to see what happens if we make mosquito extinct? I bet no one expected " flesh eating superbug" a.k.a. mrsa either. We depend on the planet, not the other way around, it has a harmony and balance that barely fixes itself every time humans mess up (how are things on gulf of Mexico going on BTW?) Call me a tree hugging, canvas shopping bag carrying, kombutcha drinking hipster if u want but I'm all against the whole mosquito genocide thing 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 15. Just to clarify - there are elements of society like that everywhere. I've seen the absolute worst of it outside the US. - YMMV Absolutely. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
  16. winsor i'm reading up on what you said about nazi - muslim connection. here, take a look at this: http://theamericanmuslim.org/tam.php/features/articles/muslims_who_fought_against_the_real_fascists p.s. from my personal family history: my muslim grandfather who fought in WW2 against nazis married my jewish grandmother who was a refugee. p.p.s. my own mother experienced discrimination and racism back in a day. she was called a "dirty jew" on numerous occasions while living in Moscow (despite having a muslim father, her looks are very much jewish). and now if she ever visits US and stumbles upon racists they will call her a dirty muslim? 17. Open racism from mass media is a whole another world, actually its them who make it look OK to express the same racism in daily life by ordinary people. Brainwashing day and night. If 20 years ago bad guys from action movies were German or Albanian now 98% of them are Muslims. How humanity is allowing big screen to form their opinion about the world? Who to love, who to hate. I will repeat myself and will suggest everyone to read Chomsky's " Manufacturing content". 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
  18. [B]Markharju You might want to see it like that, to me and over billion of Muslims including western converts its not totalitarian religious dogma. Actually there are plenty of non Muslims who doesn't consider it that either. It is easy to play with words, it is easy for an intelligent person to justify any words and actions but that doesn't make it fair and true. Opinion is not an absolute truth. Its just an opinion. If someone offends me for being Muslim and calls me a raghead for wearing hijab or will call me an indocrinated psychopath that is not openly opposing whatever they want to oppose, that makes them a racist, angry human who probably weren't hugged enough as a child. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
  19. Winsor You are misleading people in two points: 1. The proof of Islam is not in Islam being monolithic, it was revealed by Muhammad in the prophecy long before, that there will be over 70 sects in Islam. The proof of Islam being true religion for us is Quran, it is considered verbatim word of Allah and zero changes have been made to it. 2. Satanic verses - there was a poem by Salman Rushdie. Another mentioning of so called satanic verse in a hadith, well that hadith was proven to be fabricated. There is a science of hadith in Islam that investigates tons of fabricated hadith from authentic ones. You may despise Islam and Muslims but please don't put your own opinion of it as an ultimate truth. Thanks 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' 20. There was a sad/funny moment on my friend's funeral 5 years ago. My friend was Sunni but his dad was Shia. So his funeral was held both in Sunni and Shia way lol 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
  21. The difference arose after the death of Muhammad. The next khalifa was appointed Abu Bakr -- one of the closest of his companions, there were people who weren't happy with this outcome and they said that Ali should've been the next khalifah. So that was the point of separation of Shia sect from Sunni. Nowadays, majority of Sunnis and Shia get along pretty well, of course in places like Iraq nothing works the way it should, I would not take it as an example. I personally lived most of my life in the country with shia majority including my own family, but I never accepted their view of Islam (due to many theological moments) so I practice Sunni Islam, my immediate family are also all Sunnis now but my cousins are shia, we get along just like any normal people get along. Remember media blows everything out of proportion vast majority of the time. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the only time a man can be brave.' George R.R. 22. Amazon this is so helpful, thank you for taking you time! winsor i wish no one would generalise people/traditions (there are lots of diametrically different cultures all sharing the same religion within muslim community)/religion. but i wish many other things would be different in the world and unfortunately they are not. what can i say? thanks for taking time and replying to my question. blue skies 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 23. rehmwa i think people feel safer/protected when they expect violence from certain group of people. realising the fact that danger might come from anywhere is uncomfortable. the whole violent nature is brilliantly described in Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment btw depressing as hell because it is. Amazon thank you so much for help, i appreciate it! i have a primal fear or insects, not scared of jumping out of a perfectly fine airplane but the thought of a tick makes me itch :) 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 24. THAT! yes, thank you! what about ticks? people from UK got me all paranoid about tick season from may till november and that i might grab lots of them inside and got bitten and all that scary stuff. i know its silly but i even googled "skydiving canopy ticks lyme disease" the other day :D 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 25. How did you end up in Speakers Corner on Dropzone.com? Nothing filled out in your profile, no posts regarding jumping. You certainly wouldn't be the only non-jumper here, just wondering how you found the place? i'm only working towards getting a license, i can't jump right now due to personal reasons and won't be able to do that till the end of the year, but I'm hopelessly hooked. i think i watched every video o vimeo about skydiving. anyways, i got here because of the incidents forum, i needed to weight out all the risks involved in the sport for myself since i was overanalysing this moment constantly. i saw "women" section and to read that i had to register then i wandered around and stumbled upon speakers sub-forum. got terrified reading all the stuff written about muslims. searched for more and decided never to visit US ever :D contemplated whether to write something or not and decided to give it a shot (no puns intended :) ) and this is how i got here. there are plenty of newbie topics about skydiving i just use search button and read them, don't feel the need to irritate pros with my silly questions (although i have one regarding insects in the canopy after landing lol). so yeah. any other questions?:) 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?'
