  1. A national occupational safety and health culture is one in which the right to a safe and healthy working environment is respected at all levels, where governments, employers and workers actively participate in securing a safe and healthy working environment through a system of defined rights, responsibilities and duties, and where the highest priority is accorded to the principle of prevention. This year we have created a SafeDay website with new and useful information including the role of each stakeholder, more detailed information on key aspects and trends on OSH, as well as a campaign kit which includes a PPT presentation with notes, the poster and the brochure. 2. If the airfield is on your RIGHT HAND SIDE, then you are Right Crosswind / Right Downwind or Right Base, and all your turns will be to the Right and you will be flying a Non-Standard Right Hand Circuit Pattern. 3. There are three groin muscles: the adductor, the gracilis, and the pectineus. They all connect from the pubic bone to the top of the thigh and inside of the knee. “Basically, they’re the muscles that pull your leg back to the middle if, for example, it’s off to the side,” says Dr. Julie Ann Aueron, a New York-based physical therapist and yoga teacher. 4. allows you to expose both rules/rule sets and workflows via REST and other web services. We made it a fundemental principle of the platform to allow every Decisions service to be leveraged in this way. We have an eBook coming out soon on this and other design principles we followed while creating the Decisions Platform. 5. t’s important to keep the groin muscles in balance with one another, says Aueron. For example, while you want to keep your adductor groin muscles flexible, you don’t want them to end up stronger than the abductor muscles, which are on top of the glutes. This kind of imbalance can impact the way you move. To keep the proper ratio, she suggests a more comprehensive exercise plan: “Perform a diverse workout, not just running – include multiple strengthening exercises like side planks or squats.” Oil Gas Safety Council values the contribution Safety Professionals make to achieve the vision of accident free and safer workplace. http://ogsc.org/
  6. Ankle sprains: Trail runners get them, soccer players hate them, and b-ballers suffer them frequently. Chances are high that if you’re an athlete, you’ve had one or two in the past yourself. The most common type of ankle sprain is an inversion sprain, in which the foot rolls inward and ligaments of the lateral ankle are injured. - See more at: http://www.mensfitness.com/training/pro-tips/4-exercises-bulletproof-your-ankle-joints#sthash.ePUf1RA4.dpuf Oil Gas Safety Council values the contribution Safety Professionals make to achieve the vision of accident free and safer workplace. http://ogsc.org/
  7. Lots of people decide to quit skydiving because of their canopy skills—they’re afraid of injury or perhaps just the embarrassment of a bad landing. And statistics show that the most hazardous part of a skydive begins once a jumper is under a fully functioning canopy. But don’t let a lack of knowledge or skill keep you from the sport that you love—there are many ways to improve your confidence and safety under canopy. Even the people who win medals and dazzle crowds will tell you that they, too, have room for improvement. 8. I agree. If you have the time and money, go to the wind tunnel and learn the flying basics. When you go up on your first jump you will be fully occupied with the plane ride, getting out the door and keeping a check on altitude and lots of other things. If you can sort out how to fly a good neutral position in the tunnel, it will give you loads of confidence and one less thing to think about in freefall. 9. Rapid skydiving descent from high altitudes causes negative middle ear pressure changes. The ability to equalize ear pressures after a jump had a large impact on the change in ear pressure. However, the change in middle ear pressure was not associated with the presence of middle ear symptoms. 12. There are some dropzones who still use rip-cord gear when teaching their students. Once they’re properly trained however, they graduate to the common bottom of container design. A reserve deployment does use a rip cord to activate the chute, but this is an entirely different design and we hope we never have to pull that handle. 13. We had a moment of doubt after the death of Dan, Brian and Ludo because we got a lot of criticism," admits Jools Benker, head of wingsuiting at Epic TV. "But they are the ones taking the risks, they understand them. The fact they are being paid does not push them to fly closer to the ground." 14. hen multiple lifts are made from one location, such as during duty cycle operations, check the condition of the ground and blocking materials regularly and as often as possible to ensure the crane remains on firm, stable ground. Always check for overhead power lines and other obstructions. 15. A flat turn is basically a turn you can make with losing very little altitude, which is exactly what you want in an emergency situation. They are not hard to do, but absolutely must be practiced before you need them for real.
