  1. DSE, I'll take up on your offer for sure. In fact going to try and come out this Saturday if I can get the green light from my family. I totally understand that I need a lot of training and can't wait to get dialed in with you.
  2. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfuZT_etS3A] I jumped the gun and picked up my first wingsuit. Still have a few more jumps to go before I can fly it.
  3. Been waiting a long time to jump a balloon and it finally came. What an awesome experience. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4s5b9B_g-g]
  4. Funny you to mention RUROC Helmets. I got one and did a jump with it and goggle flew off. Take a look http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TQrctU0lO4 Either I didn't have the goggle on tight enough or the wind entering under the chin forced the goggle to take off. Here are thoughts on the helmet. The exterior of the helmet is rough so GoPro adhesive mounts don't work. I had to hard mount one one the helmet. The face mask is way to close to the face. Helmet looks cool but it didn't work for me.
  5. As far as the GoPro's go, goal is to mount 1 looking forward and one looking back. Still trying to nail down the design but considering running a tunnel on top of the helmet. The camera's will be mounted inside and top areas of the front/rear will be notched out to access the top button. Mudflap alti: We are looking at the design and seeing what our options are. The over all design is set up to run Recon HUD goggles so jump info can seen in the HUD. Also researching other small altimeter which will be place in the line of sight. Until we get the design nailed down the helmet will be made out of fiber glass and then later on in carbon. The gap between the chin and the chest is a couple of inches. I'm looking at it as becoming a head/neck braces, kind a like motocross neck braces which limits the distance the helmet movement. (Let me know if I'm right or wrong on this concept) As far as performance goes, not sure how much performance gain it'll have. Hopefully we'll get good results and the helmet can be incorporated into competition flying where seconds count. Until we build it out of carbon fiber then there very little cost. We'll stat off making a clone of the blk helmet u see in the pic and then add on the aero parts of the helmet. I have 3 other people working with me on this projects and safety is highly looked at. I won't be jumping this helmet but a good friend of mine will test pilot the helmet. Mike McQueen will be doing all the work once the mock-up design is done out of paper. Here's a video I did on Mike and his work. http://www.motortrex.com/channels.php?channel=16 For what I know this helmet idea work or fall apart but we never now if we don't try.
  6. Just took the first step of designing the helmet. We used cardboard templates to get a very rough design idea. Now I'll fine tune it to get a more exact design. In the rear of the helmet, we'll incorporate a flush mounted Flysight. In the ear area we'll place pockets for Flysight earphone and audible altimeter.
  7. Nice one. I'm near LAX and my home DZ is Perris. Jump at Elsinore as well. Fire me a PM when u r jumping.
  8. This is just my story and the path I've taken in skydiving. I started jumping in Feb 2005 and left the sport in 9/1999 with 115 jumps. April 2012 I got current with the desire to fly wingsuits. Since getting current majority of my jumps have been tracking jumps with a little bit of freeflying mixed in. I did 4 pre-wingsuit jumps with West Coast Wingsuits. Aug 2012 I received my tracking suit from Intrudair. Currently I have 13 jumps on my tracking suit and that's pretty much all I fly. Yes I feel it's very important to have good all around skills but to me the body positioning is totally different from RW or freeflying. My biggest problem when I did my coach jumps with West Coast Wingsuits was that I wasn't able to full de-arch and have a straight body positioning. Another major thing to me was the planning and executing the correct flight path. At my home DZ's trackers get out first and it's up to me not to fly into other jumpers. Every tracking suit exit I simulate a wingsuit style exit, as quickly as I can I navigate to my fly path and fly. During flight I play with the pitch angle of my arms as well as turning my using my shoulders. When it comes time to deploy, I reach back with both arms and bend my legs to simulate a wingsuit style deployment. I love flying my tracking suit feel it's helping with body positioning for wingsuits flying. I'd say for sure get a tracking suit. To me tracking suit is a wingsuit with out wings and they increased the glide ratio with the latest tracking suits. So ya get a tracking suit and come fly with me in SoCal. Please be nice Dave.
  9. So I stopped by my fiberglass guy today to check up on my fiberglass race truck body and stated talking to him about an aerodynamic tracking/wingsuit helmet. He just designed a new Harley front faring which he placed on my head to get some ideas. With a lot of adjustment I think we'll get it dialed in. Helmet will be set up so you can wear goggles equipped with Recon, flush mounted Fly-Sight, snag proof GoPro mounts, & internal audible pocket. Might try and add in motorcycle helmet intercom headset & microphone. FYI, I'm not going be flying this helmet, it's being built for a friend of mine who's attempting to break a wingsuit record. This helmet will be designed and build by http://www.motortrex.com/channels.php?channel=16 Let it rip...
  10. Let me ask a new question. How many DZ's have you jumped in 1 day? My DZ list (not in 1 day) Lake Tahoe Bay Area Skydiving Skydance Parachute Center Perris Valley Elsinore Z-Hills
  11. So fired up about your scholarship. I need 55 more jumps to reach the 200 mark. So in the mean time have to stick with flying my tracking suit. Oh Ya
  12. Dave, not filming this one from the air, filming from the ground. Since you have such great knowledge in skydiving, can you answer my question so I got get poor audio?
  13. Has anyone here ever recorded human dialog during freefall? For my first try I'm going to use an Audio-Technica’s high-SPL BP892-TH MicroSet and plug it into a voice recorder. http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/wired_mics/1863f81405099eac/index.html We'll be recording the dialog with a open face helmet during a wingsuit flight & Skyak flight. During the Skyak jump we are pretty comfortable that we'll have better success with getting cleaner audio. During the wingsuit jump who know how well it'll come out. Let me know if u have any tips. THX
  14. I edit full time on FCP7. A lot of the editors I've talked to don't like FCP10 due to it's layout being like iMOVIE. I'm guessing Apple is not going to go to it's FCP7 layout so if u have the cash, drop it on FCP10.
  15. My wife likes to call me the husband with many hobbies and projects. I've been skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, and wakeboarding since the age of 10. In 1995 I started skydiving and got out of the sport in 1999. Roughly the same time I stated scuba diving. Reason for leaving the sport was I got married and bought a motocross bike. Once I bought my moto, I slowed way down on the other sports I was doing. Just cause riding moto is constant adrenaline fix for as long as you can hold onto your bars. Plus best time to ride is in the winter and I was done with paying high coin for a lift tickets. This past April I got back into the sport of skydiving with a goal to fly a wingsuit. Bought a tracking suit and fly it on all most every jump I do so I can get my body trained for wingsuit. I wish I could jump every weekend but with 2 kids and my wife I bust out 3-5 jumps every 2 weeks. Plus over the last 5 years I've been building a desert race truck which is closing in to becoming finished. Now that's a cash cow. Can't wait to get it out racing. I'm lucky enough to live in SoCal where I can do what ever sport I want with in a few hours of driving. I live 5 minutes from the beach, I try and surf one morning during the week. One the weekends surf as well but it's with my kids. Super cool they are at the age where I can do sports with my kids. I ride moto about once a month. We hit the skatepark with the kids but don't skate much now, I ride a bmx bike. Plus we have a half-pipe in our backyard. Don't wakeboard much due to not having many lake around like I did growing up in NorCal. Bummer but what can I do. One of the coolest things I'm waiting to experience in one day is the facilities at Elsinore. Right next to Skydive Elsinore is the motorsports complex which I can ride moto and drive my truck on a short course track. Plus there also a lake right there where I could go wakeboarding if I had a boat or knew anyone with a boat. I'm creating a new event called "Quatro-24", which is 4 sports in 24 hour time span. Dawn patrol surfing, morning skydiving, afternoon moto, and then at night skate/bmx at a park. Could throw in snowboarding or other sports. So if I was in your shoes, I'd start skydiving. Hands down for that 60 seconds of flight, it's the only sport where I'm in the moment 100% of the time. Just go out to the Parachute Center in Lodi and bust out your AFF in a weekend. Plus it's the cheapest place to do it.
  16. Hey DSE, Just check our production calendar and Thursday turns out to be way slower than Friday which is usually not the case. So change of plan, going to try and make it out on Thursday. Can I fly my tracking suit during camp?
  17. I'm interested in the tracking event. I'm only able to make the event on Friday and ready to learn how to fly my tracking suit better
  18. A couple of months ago I did some pre-wingsuit training jump in Lodi. Not exactly a full track position but it's the only video I have at my work. I've slowed the video down to 25%. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg7fLz85aCg Yes, I have a pink and purple canopy and it's a only PD 190. In the process of getting a new canopy.
  19. Every since getting my Intrudiar tracking suit, i've been dumping in a tracking position. I've got about 8 jumps on my tracking suit and I've run into one problem which was line twists here's one video of dumping while tracking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gMPDU8u1qk&feature=plcp
  20. u are way better off just buying one. by the time u buy the fabric and get it made, it might cost the same prices as a new one. plus u might waste your time and money cause it might fly poorly. Intrudair is the lowest cost tracking suit and they've done their R&D.
  21. Ya both videos are of me. I work in production and my tracking suit got shipped to my work so I made a quick video on our green screen. I did some research before going with Intrudair. First I was fired up on getting the Pressurized Tube 3 but the cost is pretty high. I contacted Phoenix-Fly since I heard they were coming out with a new version of their tracking suit. Their response was that their suit is for experienced trackers and the cost was going to be close to the Tube 3 if I remember correctly. Here's the cost break-down in EUROS Intrudiar = 345 Pressurized = 530 Phoenix-Fly = 415 these costs are based off their websites. People say that Tony Suits has one but I never got around at finding out if they do or not. Guessing that if they don't have one, they will very soon (just a guess). I'd say get one ASAP cause they are some much fun to fly. I'm pretty much done falling in RW. To me it's all about increasing my flight time during my skydives. Can't wait to fly a wing suit.
