davjohns 1 #1 April 30, 2008 I am looking for something instructional on the basics of canopy control. I can't find anything that tells me about using risers for control and what to expect. Any help? Many thanks. DaveI know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
pilotdave 0 #2 April 30, 2008 You'll find some info in the ISP section of the SIM. Category D for rear risers and Category H for front risers. http://www.uspa.org/publications/SIM/2008SIM/section4.htm Dave

DougH 270 #4 April 30, 2008 A Canopy and its Pilot, by Brian Germaine is an excellent read. Well worth the purchase price many times over."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

The book is called The Parachute and its Pilot, by Brian Germain. I agree on all other counts. I've reread it every 100-200 jumps and gotten something new out of it. DougH 270 #7 May 1, 2008 Thank you for the correction Ficus, I think I get the name wrong 9 time out of 10. Mine has been passed around to so many newtimers that it looks like a chew toy! So much for being a signed collectors edition! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

piahenzi 0 #9 May 2, 2008 Definitely a reread type of book. Things that were "huh???" at 100 jumps are , "oh, yeah!!!" at a 1,
