Martini 0 #1 January 14, 2002 I contacted PD regarding their reserve policy and was told that a PD reserve is rated for 40 repacks or 20 jumps, and then was to be sent to PD for inspection/evaluation. If within their standards it would be recertified for an additional period. (this period was not specified, obviously it depends on canopy condition). Manufacturer's inspection of a reserve that might have been in use for 13 years sounds like a reasonable idea...... This info makes PD reserves sound like a better investment as I thought they might only have an 8 year lifespan. Thanks to all who responded previously. riggerrob 558 #3 January 15, 2002 Yes, 40 repacks or 20 jumps sounds like a reasonable life for a reserve, but I am not going to resume pull-testing PD reserves until Bill Coe gives me a straight answer.
JDBoston 0 #4 January 15, 2002 Even after 40 repacks and/or 20 jumps, it would still be OK as a main, right? Just not up to reserve "perfection" standards? Of course, not everyone wants a 7-cell F-111 main these days...Joe
freeflir29 0 #5 January 15, 2002 "it would still be OK as a main, right"I don't think they are advocating that it be taken out of service as a reserve. Just that it be inspected to make sure it hasn't suffered any damage."I got some beers....Let's Drink em!!!"Clay
Martini 0 #7 January 15, 2002 Hey Rob, so what's up with you and Bill Coe that keeps you from jumping a PDR? The one in my rig is there based on "research" of lots of user and rigger experience. Is there something else I should know?

His answer was very interesting, and can be summed up by a qualified "yes."-bill von
JDBoston 0 #11 January 15, 2002 Ah, good point. That would be kind of a bitch.I'm planning on getting a PDR for my reserve, so if there's anyone out there with a strong negative opinion, speak now or let me find out the hard way....Joe
