D22369 0 #1 November 22, 2003 Hey all, four of us from the northwest in our quest to find some warm weather will be in Arizona January 8th - 11th. both of these dz's will be an easy drive. If you have experience with these dz's I would appreciate your input. Thanks; RoyThey say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
bodypilot1 0 #2 November 22, 2003 ELOY HANDS DOWN Been there MANY times over many years.www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
GravityGirl 0 #3 November 22, 2003 I used to live in Eloy and drive to work (AFF) at Buckeye. Buckeye is a small dz and Eloy is the largest. It really depends on what you are looking for. I say, stop at Buckeye on your way down and make a jump or two. It's closer to Phoenix than Eloy, but Eloy is a party in itself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! 174fps 1 #4 November 22, 2003 Jan 8th is the start of the Canadian/Alaskan Invasion at Eloy, head over to the alternate landing area and check it out!
ltdiver 3 #5 November 22, 2003 Buckeye: Small, Cessna, family atmosphere. Eloy: Large, Otter, world champions train there. Take your pick. They're as different as night and day, but both will guarantee your fun. I know someone who'd NEVER jumped from a Cessna until he went to Buckeye. He's admittedly an Otter-snob. It was funny as hell to see him 'fear' falling off the step/strut! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Zenister 0 #6 November 22, 2003 i'd never jumped from a cessna till i moved north to Kapowsin... yea i'm a turbine baby..yea!____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
airgord 1 #7 November 22, 2003 We now have 3, count em 3 Skyvans!! They just got in last night from Indonesia, with 2 more on the way soon. They are earmarked for military business the dz has just recently picked up, but after they are converted I'm sure we'll be jumping from them occasionally. bbarnhouse 0 #8 November 22, 2003 Both DZ are great! If you are looking at a casual jump pace then Bukeye is fab with a friendly atmosphere. Eloy has a different flavor, and a faster pace. Just depends on what you are looking for. My suggestion is that you try bothYes we have 2 additional skyvans currently resting in front of the hangars. Once they have been checked out completly by our aeor specialists....they will be retrofitted and be painted in the Skydive Arizona colors. I am hoping to have them in the fleet for the Holiday Boogie.....we will just have to see

I was going to mention Coolidge as well...And don't forget that occasionally they do run the cessna (although today the otter was back). usually it's the otter or porter..but occasionally the cessna. -------------------------------------------- Elfanie My Skydiving Page Fly Safe - Soft Landings

BikerBabe 0 #13 November 24, 2003 LOL...one of Skydive New Mexico's former pilots flew one of those skyvans over from Indonesia. Just imagine flying a skyvan all the way over the Pacific! ugh. FrogNog 1 #14 November 25, 2003 QuoteLOL...one of Skydive New Mexico's former pilots flew one of those skyvans over from Indonesia. Just imagine flying a skyvan all the way over the Pacific! ugh. I don't think it would be that bad. Just have to bring plenty of food and water, some sanitation facilities, a couple of mattresses and plenty of blankets and pillows, earplugs, etc.. Sort of like camping out. I mean, there's room in the back for all that, right? -=-=-=-=- Pull.
