Peej 0 #26 March 31, 2006 QuoteIt's a 'recreation' If you compete, then go ahead and call it a sport if one's tender ego needs that term. Are you referring directly to my "tender ego"? Or were you just replying to my post cos it was last? Edited to add: What makes other forms of competition sport and this not? Becaue players score between a set of goal posts? airtwardo 6 #27 March 31, 2006 QuoteQuoteIt's a sport. you are the only person who has posted this way unconditionally. edited: oh wait, I see, you are going off of the old saying that, 'It isn't a sport unless you can die doing it." right? it really is hard to mainting the perspective? do you ever think you are forced to view it as a hobbie? are labeled "competitive"? *** No...it's more the semantics of the terminology. To me anyway, a hobby is something you do as a pastime, it's not something that in part defines who you are. Also the level of commitment needed puts it in the 'sport' category for me. Not the commitment to compete, but to stay safe...stay alive. If skydiving is your 'hobby'...in my mind anyway, you don't understand what all is involved. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

If stepping out of an airplane 2 1/2 miles up isn't a sport, then I don't know what it. Besides, if you do it wrong it can kill you dead, so that definitely makes it a sport. I also collect a lot of bootleg live music recordings. That's a hobby. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
