diverdriver 5 #2 November 9, 2009 A very low mr. bill? Looks like the top jumper is holding the D bag still. Maybe? Slider down? Wait! Wait! I know! Bill Booth's early test on the skyhook. He abandoned it when it was realized cost prohibitive to carry the extra jumper with you all the time.Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
CSpenceFLY 1 #3 November 9, 2009 I'd say a wrap of some sort and the low guy came loose. I'm betting it left a mark.
diverdriver 5 #4 November 9, 2009 Ok before someone else's kicks my ass I apologize. I don't know the end result of this photo and I'm not making light if it was this jumper demise. It was insensitive and I am sorry.Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

NickDG 23 #9 November 10, 2009 It's a double direct bag B.A.S.E. jump from a 150-foot ship channel bridge here in So Cal from the late 1980s. We called them rodeo jumps. The top guy was direct bagged while holding the bottom guy's direct bag. Nobody hurt, it's over water. I made a ton of jumps from that bridge, but always at night! NickDG 23 #10 November 10, 2009 I had to go through some boxes of stuff to find it but here's the original photo and caption from BASELine (a BASE magazine by Phil Smith, BASE 1) published in December of 1988 . . . NickD BASE

Krip 2 #12 November 10, 2009 Hi Nick Was 1988 after folks stopped used FF rigs for base? I'm guessing it was since page you attached had a ad for a tert. canopyOne Jump Wonder
NickDG 23 #13 November 11, 2009 Yes, most of us were using BASE rigs by then. But no one was really mass producing them until the early 90s. So we made our own. I spent a very long weekend picking the stitches out of a skydiving rig to remove the containers. Then I sewed on a 4-flap Velcro closed BASE container. It was ugly but it worked . . .
