Interesting NYT article on the explosion.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/09/09/world/middleeast/beirut-explosion.html?campaign_id=9&emc=edit_nn_20200910&instance_id=22057&nl=the-morning&regi_id=118682468&section_index=2&section_name=three_more_big_stories&segment_id=37752&te=1&user_id=94f58d5b96ea75e238c5bfb8bc8f5a2c

From the article:

Helpful hint - Storing explosive material in the same building with large quantities of fireworks is probably not a good idea.

Probably isn't. Maybe there should be regulations to prohibit these things?

SOCIALISM!  COMMUNISM!  BIG BROTHER!

Next thing you know you'll want a law against storing large amounts of TNT in your garage next to your water heater.

There are.

The problem is that there's nobody enforcing (or obeying) ANY rules and regulations.
Just corruption and bribery (it's in the article).

I know. It was more commentary on the Republican desire to reduce and eliminate regulations in the US. This is a prime example of what can happen in those instances and why their position tends to be extremely short-sighted.

(It also shows why libertarianism doesn't work)

Hi Sky,

The far simpler way to do this is to merely take all the funding necessary to enforce any regulations.

Where is Congress when they are needed?

Jerry Baumchen

PS)  When you take away the funding, you get to run for re-election on the argument that you stand for lowering taxes; everyone seems to like that.

Libertarians would argue that stiff penalties, whistle-blower laws and lawyers would take care of violators. Just saying.

Yeah. How would that work after the explosion and subsequent bankruptcy of any companies involved? How exactly would that bring dead people back to life?

I know you aren't advocating this. Just trowing some questions out there for libertarians to keep in mind.

Libertarians wait for people to die because people are only responsible for themselves and there shouldn't be governments. The trump/GOP are libertarians but use lies instead of philosophical ideologies.
