Good news everyone! While almost a million government workers lose their paychecks, and essential services go unfunded, the Trump administration is getting a hefty pay raise!

That's how much he cares about you.

While federal workers go without pay, senior Trump administration officials are poised to get $10,000 raises

While many federal workers go without pay and the government is partially shut down, hundreds of senior Trump political appointees are poised to receive annual raises of about $10,000 a year.

The pay raises for Cabinet secretaries, deputy secretaries, top administrators and even Vice President Pence are scheduled to go into effect beginning Jan. 5 without legislation to stop them, according to documents issued by the Office of Personnel Management and experts in federal pay.

. . .

Cabinet secretaries, for example, would be entitled to a jump in annual salary from $199,700 to $210,700. Deputy secretaries would be entitled to a raise from $179,700 to $189,600. Others affected are under secretaries, deputy directors and other top administrators.

The pay of Pence is scheduled to rise from $230,700 to $243,500.

So, roughly 5.5%. Meanwhile, the military gets around 2% (depending on your paygrade) -- which I'm not personally complaining about, since it's at least something, compared to federal civilians who received NOTHING.

*well, less than nothing for some, since those in certain agencies are on furlough. [:/]

Not possible! Trump himself told a bunch of active duty military "We are always going to protect you. And you just saw that, 'cause you just got one of the biggest pay raises you've ever received. ... You haven't gotten one in more than 10 years. More than 10 years. And we got you a big one. I got you a big one. I got you a big one."

Well to be fair to the brown-noses of trump's administration.

1. All the leaks in the administration need to be plugged.
2. Nobody with real qualifications wants the jobs.
3. The legal liabilities attached to these jobs are tremendous given the Mueller "thing".
4. Only one in about five jobs has been filled given most administrations. Mainly because the whole administration is so chaotic. That and the fact that trump is suspicious of every new hire.
5. Finding employees so willing to cover up lies is difficult.
6. Perhaps we should recommend our own Marc? He deserves reward for getting so close to trump's an__.

>Pelosi and Schumer can fix this at any time.

Yep. And they did. There are now bipartisan bills that have been passed by both houses that funds the government and increases border spending. Now it's waiting on Trump.

nope they didn't. It wasn't too many years ago they were appropriate all kinds of money for the wall. All they wants a political feather up their ass. They can fix it but they didn't

Answer this - why are we needing ANY money for the wall?

MEXICO was going to pay for it. I'm pretty sure I remember your messiah saying that once or twice, didn't he?
Why does he need another $5bn from US on top of a ballooning deficit that he 'promised' to reduce - because he's just THE BEST at negotiating.

2016:
We need a wall. A really big wall for security, and they say it’s going to cost 15 or 20 billion dollars. But it won’t, because you know what? I’m GREAT at negotiating these things. And whatever it’s going to cost Mexico will pay for it!

2018: Give me $5bn for the wall that I said we wouldn’t have to pay for or I’ll throw all my toys out of the stroller. WHAT RO YOU MEAN NO??! Why are you being so MEAN??

Truly, the guy’s a negotiating mastermind.

>nope they didn't.

Sorry, the facts are against you - again.

The Senate passed a bill that included government funding and increased border security.
The House passed the same bill. From WaPo:

======================
The six-bill package passed the House 241-190 on Thursday night, and the short-term Homeland Security spending bill passed 239-192. A handful of Republicans broke ranks on each measure to vote “yes” with the Democrats.

The House strategy could allow Senate Republicans to pass legislation that would reopen most of the government while setting aside the debate over the border wall. . .

“What we’re asking the Republicans in the Senate to do is to take ‘yes’ for an answer. We are sending them back exactly, word for word, what they have passed,” Pelosi said. “Why would they not do that? Is it because the president won’t sign it? Did they not hear about the coequal branch of government, and that we the Congress send the president legislation and he can choose to sign or not?”

McConnell on Thursday restated the stance he has adopted since the Senate unanimously passed a short-term spending bill last month without additional wall funding — only to watch as Trump turned against it the very next morning amid a conservative backlash.

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration announced late Friday night that it would freeze a pay raise for Vice President Mike Pence, members of the cabinet and other high-ranking political appointees in light of the partial government shutdown.

The high-level officials were positioned to receive a raise of about $10,000 a year — which was to go into effect on Saturday — as 800,000 federal employees were entering their third week without pay.

The increases were the result of Congress’s failure to renew a longstanding freeze on raises for high-ranking officials and political appointees. An extension of the freeze was included in the spending bills funding multiple government agencies that were not acted on before the expiration on Thursday of the 115th Congress.

But on Friday night, the Office of Personnel Management announced that “it would be prudent for agencies to continue to pay these senior political officials at the frozen rate until appropriations legislation is enacted that would clarify the status of the freeze.”

Explain how that is relevant in the slightest.

And meanwhile the Trump Foundation closes down under court supervision on account of financial irregularities (acting as a piggybank for Trump himself).

Donald Trump is raking in big bucks from emoluments foreign and domestic.
https://www.usnews.com/opinion/articles/2018-03-05/how-is-donald-trump-profiting-from-the-presidency-let-us-count-the-ways

"We can start with the truly big money. Forbes' Dan Alexander and Matt Drange estimated last month that Trump rakes in at least $175 million annually from commercial tenants like the state-owned Industrial & Commercial Bank of China. ...

at least three dozen known Trump tenants have "meaningful relationships with the federal government, from contractors to lobbying firms to regulatory targets....

Foreign governments have been quick to figure out how to stay on the president's good side. They've "donated public land, approved permits and eased environmental regulations for Trump-branded developments, creating a slew of potential conflicts as foreign leaders make investments that can be seen as gifts or attempts to gain access to the American president through his sprawling business empire," McClatchy's Anita Kumar reported in January. The Chinese government has granted Trump at least 39 trademarks, some of which had been previously rejected, since he took office; Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter and senior adviser, has also gotten at least seven since she joined the administration. It's good to be the king or in the royal family....

An investigation by USA Today last summer found that in the 12 months after he clinched the GOP presidential nomination in 2016, "70% of buyers of Trump properties were limited liability companies – corporate entities that allow people to purchase property without revealing all of the owners' names. That compares with about 4% of buyers in the two years before." ...

there are the day-to-day ways Trump rakes in the dough by mixing and matching his presidential activities with his own properties. As mentioned last week, he spent one third of his first year in office visiting his own commercial properties. And he wasn't alone: According to a January report by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, more than 100 executive branch officials and members of Congress also visited Trump properties during his first year in office; at least 40 special interest groups held events at Trump properties; and at least 11 foreign government's paid Trump businesses. The Kuwaiti Embassy, for example, held a National Day celebration at Trump's Washington, D.C. hotel last year and then again last month. As one Asian diplomat told The Washington Post way back in the early days after the 2016 election, going to Trump's hotel only makes good sense: "Why wouldn't I stay at his hotel blocks from the White House, so I can tell the new president, 'I love your new hotel!' Isn't it rude to come to his city and say, 'I am staying at your competitor?...

And who is footing the bill for the lawyers defending Trump's ability to turn a buck (or millions of them) off of his office? Why the U.S. taxpayers are. Of course.'"

I will stop now but the article goes on to explain dozens of more scams, emoluments violations, etc. committed by the trump crime family.

Most of which are the subjects, rightfully so, of three separate investigations. The US house of representatives, NYAG and the Mueller.

Well.....We did that, the job got done. We accomplished the goals of how to best economically slow down border crossings. There has been a tremendous drop in illegal border crossings in the last 15 years to the tune of 1/10th of what it used to be. Nobody is trying to remove existing border, regardless of what Breitbart tells you, the parties have unilaterally agreed to more funding for border security against illegal immigration.
