It's of course easy for us to say what someone should have done in the heat of the moment, both cop and criminal but the fact is that if you don't resist arrest you'll be OK in 99.9999...% of situations and if you did something wrong you're not helping yourself by fighting or running. I'm absolutely not making excuses for a cop shooting someone in the back as they run away, that's inexcusable."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

It does equate for me. Whatever the subject does or has done (assuming there is no immediate risk to others) there is no plausible reason to shoot somebody running away from you in the back. Even if he had warrants, or just fought with you, or resisted a tazer. I get that he wasn't helping himself. But there are generally very many girls who didn't help themselves either. Still doesn't make it right. The fact that people have to be careful to not run from police or they might get shot in the back (or have their necks broken in the back of a van) is rather insane in my book. RMK 3 #155 May 19, 2017 It starts with some pretty "shit" police training. US Police recruits spend around 58 hours learning how to shoot firearms and only 8 hours learning how to de-escalate situations."Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
skycop 0 #156 May 19, 2017 I've trained with the London Metro to a man they all think we (American) cops are crazy, having to deal with an armed populace. Training standards vary from state to state. A new recruit in our state has somewhere in the area of 1600 hours of training before they are let out on their own. Then there are many hours of recurrent/specialized training yearly and otherwise. Many of those hours are spent in the crisis communication area. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Here is an answer to your comment, it's a bit more complicated and not as easy as one would think. https://bluelivesmatter.blue/denver-police-officer-shot/ "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
