Insights from the world's richest woman

Recommended Posts

Quote

Your being from the mid-west of our country, you come from an area where hard work and 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps' is the attitude. You earned what you got through perseverence and hard work and that is commendable. Those who have had everything handed to them... I have no use for. Like the woman this thread is about.

Chuck

Good for you :)

It's my Daddy's fault for not being rich.

I for one am thankful I was lucky enough in the DNA lottery to be born in America. Every damn one of us has a lot more 'handed' to us that several billion other people on the planet.

I'd better shut up now, or I'll sound like NoBama telling successful people they didn't build it.
For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

Fine advice, but coming from someone who never had to work a day in her privileged life it just sounds like the hypocrisy that it is.

The data is either good, or bad. Removing your personal bias aimed at the person... Is her advice on target or off target?

And if she was preaching the benefits of a good diet and solid exercise regimen, would you view her as a good spokeswoman?

People do not take seriously the advice that comes from people that won't follow it themselves. A woman who never worked a hard day in her life is the wrong person to lecture about working hard.

It's probably a good thing that people are inherently lazy, though, because if they were not, then working hard would only be enough to tread water. It's a strategy that allows (but not guarantees) success because it is not universally done.

Its a bit much coming from a woman who inherited everything. I have nothing but respect for folk who have made lots of money by themselves through hard work etc (Don Cross.. )

Alot of us Aussies cringe when she offers opinions.

footnote at least over here we have reasonable wages. (I love the USA for a holiday but I mean Bloody hell $5 per hour for alot of staff at WDW. I mean shit !! How can anyone live on that. (yes I am generous with the gratuties)
I tend to be a bit different. enjoyed my time in the sport or is it an industry these days ??

Hmmmm

The criticisms of Ann Romney regarding work come to mind

yeah well...it sucks!
by the way how is your economy on your side of the world?
i konw your country is one of the hardest to move to. even for US citizens.
Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay.

The only thing that falls from the sky is birdshit and fools!

She got a nice big tax break for her horse, didn't she? More than some people earn in a year.

So you don't dispute that Ann Romney got a bigger tax break for her horse than many people earn in a year of hard work. OK, that's cool.

It is really fun watching you whine about those who have more than you

And your whining includes misleading statements at best

But now, even though you have been exposed, please continue.

It is very educational for many people

Amusing. So she is born into extreme wealth, but "knows" all the poor people just need to work harder? The only thing she did to become rich was be born. She's a billionaire (despite the "socialist" government tendencies?) So the government's "socialist" policies are keeping her from getting richer? Poor baby. She wants the wages for the poorest people lowered? And her taxes reduced?

She needs to plug in her brain and review a primer on logic. Actually, I think people like her are aware, at least at some core level, of these things. They are simply blind with greed.

:D:D

Do you want a lesson on tax issues regarding all kinds of horses across the nation?

Thoroughbreds, Quarter horses, and others?

Are you ready to say that only the rich get great tax advantages when they own horses?

I really hope so

But

You might want to educate yourself just a little before you do

Let me know when you are ready

Why don't you tell us how many indigent people own horses and enter them for the Olympics.

How many people EARNING the median income take a $77,000 tax break for their horse?

I know of at least a dozen who have done so for many years

Take a look at the horse owners at the race track in Des Moines

MOST of those racing horses there may make less

I helped a friend of mine race horse there for years

I worked a union job with him so I KNOW what his income was

I also KNOW of the tax breaks he got

If you like

Look up Steve Newbrough as a trainer owner there

(he stopped racing horses a few years ago however but he race record should still be available)

Next

So you say. You are funny.:D

Do you actually know what the median personal income is in the USA? It's not $77,731.00 (the size of Ms. Romney's tax break for her dancing horse). Not even close.

Here's a nice Ann Romney quote:

“I love the fact that there are women out there who don’t have a choice and they must go to work and they still have to raise the kids." (Stamford, CT, April 2012)

Yes, she loves the little people who don't have investment income and tax deductions for their horses.

Wish I knew what she meant. Is there a context for it? On it's own it is a rather bizarre thing to say.

Ann Romney Seeks Sympathy In Stamford, And Gets It

Quote

“I know what’s like to finish the laundry and to look in the basket five minutes later and it’s full again. I know what’s like to pull all the groceries in and see the teenagers run through and all of a sudden all the groceries you just bought are gone,” Romney said to the crowd. “And I know what’s like to get up early in the morning and to get them off to school. And I know what’s like to get up in the middle of the night when they’re sick. And I know what’s like to struggle and to have those concerns that all mothers have.”

Romney alluded to the fact that not all women can stay at home saying, “I love the fact that there are women out there who don’t have a choice and they must go to work and they still have to raise the kids. Thank goodness that we value those people too. And sometimes life isn’t easy for any of us.”

She could've have worded it better but probably didn't mean what kallend implied.
Your rights end where my feelings begin.

I agree with her.

"It behooves every man to remember that the work of the critic is of altogether secondary importance, and that in the end, progressis accomplished by the man who does things." theodore Roosevelt

"To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it."

Thomas Jefferson's letter to Joseph Milligan, April 6, 1816.

So what has she done, besides inherit a large fortune and criticize the poor?

(Oh, and eat too much).

Don't rightly know. Maybe she is still involved in the family business, or involved in other activities. She has an opinion, one that is not that extreme, worked for me and I think you as well. Her weight has nothing to do with the subject, envy and the thought that she has more than she needs and we are entitled to some of it is the primary issue.

We are entitled to no more than that what we produce, and or build to name two.

You don't believe we're entitled to an inheritance, then.

I do, I just want it taxed like any other transfer.
