that's a subtle reminder that not all Muslim countries are "Arab" - nothing more, nothing less

I'm just interpreting for those that can't read minds (yet) to avoid the inevitable pissing contest

Plus, the niggling factoid that not all Arabs are Muslim, either. Lebanon, for example, is about 40% Christian and 5% Druze, but they're Arabs, too. And many Arabs in the West Bank are Maronite Christians, including, for example, the family of Sirhan Sirhan (nope, he's not Muslim; never was). O little town of Bethlehem...

True, but the Christians and Druze in those countries aren't the ones complaining. At least not as loudly.

I think Sirhan's act was a pretty loud act of complaint.

And as for the Druze, they're a much-persecuted ethnic minority in the Arab world. If they complain too loudly, they disappear.

As the web site for Harper’s Magazine reported, one study showed that Jews and Palestinians have common ancestry that is so recent that it is highly likely that at least some of the Palestinian blood actually descends from Jews. Another study by New York University confirmed a remarkable similarity between Jewish and Palestinian genes. "Jews and Arabs are all really children of Abraham," said Dr. Harry Ostrer, director of the Human Genetics Program at New York University School of Medicine, who worked on the study. "And all have preserved their Middle Eastern genetic roots over 4,000 years.

According to several other studies, Palestinians and Jews are genetically closer to each other than either is to the Arabs of Arabia or to Europeans. A study of congenital deafness identified an allele limited to Palestinian and Jews of Ashkenazi origin (those who lived in Europe in recent centuries), suggesting a common origin. Furthermore, Y-chromosome polymorphism is very similar among Palestinians and Sephardic Jews. While current studies show a lot of similarities and genetic closeness may be used to confirm claims of both sides to Israel/Palesitne, but right now, results are incomplete and are subject to much interpretation. The above statements are based on the currently available information, but may be questioned by future studies.

To state that a Persian is an Arab is not only disrespectful in the sense that they (at times) do not really get along that well, it is also disrespectful in the sence that your opinion is merely a product of propganda.

Yes there are aot of unhappy muslims, but they are not unhappy with Islam.

They are are unhappy with the opresson and coruption that is often propped up by the west to create this element of uncertainty, and dismay.

I would bet you could care less about what they actually are unhappy about, and base you poor judgement on what you have seen in the western media?

To state that a Persian is an Arab is not only disrespectful in the sense that they (at times) do not really get along that well (to put it lightly); it is also disrespectful in the sense that your opinion is a product of the above stated propaganda.

What about the Arab countries or emirates in which are very affluent? Do you think we should allow them to live like that?

Many of the countries you mention have vast amounts of natural resources. Those resources are being sold to the west by those that create the oppression and do not filter down the profits to the rest of society.

Dubai is a classic example of what the Arab world could look like, if we had a balance on the distribution of wealth relative to the geographical position of the resources initial position.

Unfortunately that is not how it works at present; often the places with the most wealth in natural resources will have the most oppression in society.

Except for UAE (and others) of course but you would prefer to not mention them I take it?

Sounds like everyone thinks your OP is just a soggy douchebag.

Well, that's because, as usual, people don't comprehend what was actually written and insist on interpreting and extrapolating.

Yeppers. To this day, the Vietnamese are one happy herd of honchos.

Yes, we have it on good authority that the two Vietnams are now happily exchanging and working, side-by-side, north and south.
