  1. This smallish club is going places. Henk is going out of his way to accommodate sport jumpers, unlike other clubs in the province who mainly cater for tandems. And now with a King Air B90 you get to altitude in no time.
  2. I don't understand why it is so hard for you to understand this. Luke jumped without a parachute. Exactly!!
  3. The Arabs aren't happy! They're not happy in Gaza. They're not happy in Egypt. They're not happy in Libya. They're not happy in Morocco. They're not happy in Iran. They're not happy in Iraq. They're not happy in Yemen. They're not happy in Afghanistan. They're not happy in Pakistan. They're not happy in Syria. They're not happy in Lebanon. And where are they happy? They're happy in England. They're happy in France. They're happy in Italy. They're happy in Australia. They're happy in Sweden. They're happy in the USA. They're happy in Norway. They're happy in every single country that is not Muslim. And who do they blame? Not Islam. Not their leadership. Not themselves. THEY BLAME THE COUNTRIES THEY ARE HAPPY IN !!!
  4. I remember a discussion between the local "skygods" at Cape Parachute club in the early 90's. I was then a A-license holder and eegerly learning everything of importance from them. Anyway they were talking about pulling low and mutual consensus was that one should NEVER go below the Big 1! That is 1000 ft agl.
  5. There is no war on atheism, the war is on Christianity. It's high fashion to be an atheist these days.
  6. I was sitting alone at Stellenbosch parachute club waiting for the plane to return from a show jump in Hout Bay. I was friends with the pilot and he offered to let me go with when he flew a "circuit". When we went over the DZ we were climbing through 1500 ft. Went out got stable and dumped. Very short canopy ride. Chucked my rig in the car and left before the skygods returned from the show jump!
  7. Will they use a floatplane for skydiving?
  8. The financial crisis explained in simple terms: Heidi is the proprietor of a bar in Berlin. In order to increase sales, she decides to allow her loyal customers - most of whom are unemployed alcoholics - to drink now but pay later. She keeps track of the drinks consumed on a ledger (thereby granting the customers loans). Word gets around and as a result increasing numbers of customers flood Into Heidi's bar. Taking advantage of her customers' freedom from immediate payment constraints, Heidi increases her prices for wine and beer, the most-consumed beverages. Her sales volume increases massively. A young and dynamic customer service consultant at the local bank Recognizes these customer debts as valuable future assets and increases Heidi's borrowing limit. He sees no reason for undue concern since he has the debts of the alcoholics as collateral. At the bank's corporate headquarters, expert bankers transform these customer assets into DRINKBONDS, ALKBONDS and PUKEBONDS. These securities are then traded on markets worldwide. No one really understands what these abbreviations mean and how the securities are guaranteed. Nevertheless, as their prices continuously climb, the securities become top-selling items. One day, although the prices are still climbing, a risk manager (subsequently of course fired due his negativity) of the bank decides that slowly the time has come to demand payment of the debts incurred by the drinkers at Heidi's bar. However they cannot pay back the debts. Heidi cannot fulfill her loan obligations and claims bankruptcy. DRINKBOND and ALKBOND drop in price by 95 %. PUKEBOND performs better, stabilizing in price after dropping by 80 %. The suppliers of Heidi's bar, having granted her generous payment due dates and having invested in the securities are faced with a new situation. Her wine supplier claims bankruptcy, her beer supplier is taken over by a competitor. The bank is saved by the Government following dramatic round-the-clock consultations by leaders from the governing political parties. The funds required for this purpose are obtained by a tax levied against the non-drinkers. Finally an explanation I understand . . .
  9. Question: Is majority opinion always right? Most of the greatest scientists of the past 1000 years were Christians and creationists. To these scientists, Christianity was the driving force behind their discoveries. The Christian world view gave birth and impetus to modern science. There have been many famous scientists who believed in special creation in the past. In particular, the following scientists were creationists: Louis Agassiz (1807-1873; glacial geology) Charles Babbage (1792-1871; computer science) Francis Bacon (1561-1626; scientific method) Robert Boyle (1627-1691; gas dynamics) David Brewster (1781-1868; optical mineralogy) Georges Cuvier (1769-1832; comparative anatomy) Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519; hydraulics) Humphrey Davy (1778-1829; thermokinetics) Henri Fabre (1823-1915; entomology of living insects) Michael Faraday (1791-1867; electromagnetics) John Ambrose Fleming (1849-1945; electronics) Joseph Henry (1797-1878; inventor) William Herschel (1738-1822; galactic astronomy) James Joule (1818-1889; reversible thermodynamics) Lord Kelvin (1824-1907; energetics) Johann Kepler (1571-1630; celestial mechanics) Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778; systematic biology) Joseph Lister (1827-1912; antiseptic surgery) Matthew Maury (1806-1873; oceanography) James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879; electrodynamics) Gregor Mendel (1822-1884; genetics) Samuel F. B. Morse (1791-1872; telegraph inventor) Isaac Newton (1642-1727; calculus) Blaise Pascal (1623-1662; hydrostatics) Louis Pasteur (1822-1895; bacteriology) William Ramsay (1852-1916; isotopic chemistry) John Ray (1627-1705; natural history) Lord Rayleigh (1842-1919; dimensional analysis) Bernhard Riemann (1826- 1866; non-Euclidean geometry) James Simpson (1811-1870; gynecology) Nicholas Steno (1631-1686; stratigraphy) George Stokes (1819-1903; fluid mechanics) Rudolph Virchow (1821-1902; pathology) John Woodward (1665-1728; paleontology) Agassiz, Pasteur, Lord Kelvin, Maxwell, Dawson, Virchow, Fabre, and Fleming were strong opponents of evolution.

  11. No re-direction needed. I certainly did not post this as fact, but to discuss the underlying truths of how dumb atheists are.
  12. COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY: In Florida , an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized day(s). The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel and declared, 'Case dismissed.' The lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and said: "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah. Yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays"; The judge leaned forward in his chair and said, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant " The lawyer said, "Your Honour, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists." The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is 'April Fools Day' Psalm 14:1 states "'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned"
  13. Is there a Horror Movies forum? Interesting post!
  14. Quotes Many people today think that the argument about the origin of life is between the scientific view of evolution and the religious view of creation - it isn't! Darwin said before his book was published ... 1. 'You will be greatly disappointed (by the forthcoming book); it will be grievously too hypothetical. It will very likely be of no other service than collocating some facts; though I myself think I see my way approximately on the origin of the species. But, alas, how frequent, how almost universal it is in an author to persuade himself of the truth of his own dogmas.' Charles Darwin, 1858, in a letter to a colleague regarding the concluding chapters of his Origin of Species. As quoted in 'John Lofton's Journal', The Washington Times, 8 February 1984. SO, IS EVOLUTION SCIENTIFIC? 2. 'In fact, evolution became in a sense a scientific religion; almost all scientists have accepted it and many are prepared to 'bend' their observations to fit in with it.' H.S. Lipson, FRS (Professor of Physics, University of Manchester, UK), 'A physicist looks at evolution'. Physics Bulletin, vol. 31, 1980, p. 138. IS IT A FACT? OR A FAITH? 3. 'The fact of evolution is the backbone of biology, and biology is thus in the peculiar position of being a science founded on an unproved theory - is it then a science or a faith? Belief in the theory of evolution is thus exactly parallel to belief in special creation - both are concepts which believers know to be true but neither, up to the present, has been capable of proof.' L. Harrison Matthews, FRS, Introduction to Darwin's The Origin of Species, J.M. Dent & Sons Ltd, London, 1971, p. xi. 4. 'One must conclude that, contrary to the established and current wisdom, a scenario describing the genesis of life on earth by chance and natural causes which can be accepted on the basis of fact and not faith, has not yet been written.' Hubert P. Yockey (Army Pulse Radiation Facility, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, USA), 'A calculation of the probability of spontaneous biogenesis by information theory'. Journal of Theoretical Biology, vol. 67, 1977, p. 396. CAN EVOLUTION BE OBSERVED? 5. 'Evolution, at least in the sense that Darwin speaks of it, cannot be detected within the lifetime of a single observer.' David B. Kitts, Ph.D. (zoology) (School of Geology and Geophysics, University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma, USA). 'Palaeontology and evolutionary theory'. Evolution, vol. 28, September 1974, p. 466. CAN EVOLUTION BE TESTED? 6. 'It is easy enough to make up stories of how one form gave rise to another, and to find reasons why the stages should be favoured by natural selection. But such stories are not part of science, for there is no way of putting them to the test.' Personal letter (written 10 April 1979) from Dr Collin Patterson, Senior Palaeontologist at the British Museum of Natural History in London, to Luther D. Sunderland; as quoted in Darwin's Enigma by Luther D. Sunderland, Master Books, San Diego, USA, 1984, p. 89. 7. 'Our theory of evolution has become, as Popper described, one which cannot be refuted by any possible observations. Every conceivable observation can be fitted into it. It is thus "outside of empirical science" but not necessarily false. No one can think of ways in which to test it. Ideas, either without basis or based on a few laboratory experiments carried out in extremely simplified systems, have attained currency far beyond their validity. They have become part of an evolutionary dogma accepted by most of us as part of our training.' Paul Ehrlich (Professor of Biology, Stanford University) and L. Charles Birch (Professor of Biology, University of Sydney), 'Evolutionary history and population biology'. Nature, vol. 214, 22 April 1967, p.352. 8. 'These evolutionary happenings are unique, unrepeatable, and irreversible. It is as impossible to turn a land vertebrate into a fish as it is to effect the reverse transformation. The applicability of the experimental method to the study of such unique historical processes is severely restricted before all else by the time intervals involved, which far exceed the lifetime of any human experimenter. And yet, it is just such impossibility that is demanded by anti-evolutionists when they ask for "proofs" of evolution which they would magnanimously accept as satisfactory.' Theodosius Dobzhansky (late Emeritus Professor of Zoology and Biology, Rockefeller University), 'On methods of evolutionary biology and anthropology, Part 1, biology'. American Scientist, vol. 45(5), December 1957, p.388.
