Did anyone notice this past week?

The funeral of a veteran should be about the veteran and their family. If they want Christian prayers, fine. If they want other religious prayers, fine. If they don't want any prayers at all, that should be fine with you, too. A funeral, even if it occurs at a National Cemetary, is not a government function. I think we can both agree on that. Where I disagree with you is in your implication that since it is okay to have Christian prayers at a soldier's funeral, the US is therefore a Christian nation. If that's not what you were implying, then I apologise.

Don't apologize, I was implying that.

The Memorial Day Ceremony yesterday was a USG function, sponsored by the Veteran's Administration.

To clarify, you believe that offering a Christian prayer at a Christian soldier's funeral is evidence that the United States is a Christian nation? What are the implications of offering a Hindu prayer at a Hindu soldier's funeral? Does the US become a Hindu nation while the prayer is being said? Or maybe until the body is in the ground? At what point, exactly, would be go back to being a Christian nation?

21 May was Armed Forces Day; last week was Military Appreciation Week; today is Memorial Day.

In the past week I have attended three funerals for military veterans. Yesterday Carmen and I attended a memorial church service for two local KIA's in OIF/OEF. Today we will travel to the Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell with Carmen's brother, Henry, for the memorial ceremony. Henry is 89 and served with the naval invasion forces at Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

I pray that God continue to bless the United States of America, guide us more wisely in the selection of our leaders and, never let us minimize the cost of our freedom.

Interesting hobby, you have there.

I'd be deeply sad if I would have to travel from one funeral to next cemetery ....

Is there anything else in your life?

God. :S

The government shows up for the funerals too?
:P

Oh yes!
There have been a number of funerals where IRS agents showed up to confront and harrass the next of kin over unpaid income taxes.
I wonder how Ron and his group would feel about protecting families from that lack of respect.

Peace,

Show me proof that an IRS agent showed up at a military funeral, or any other for that matter, harrasing the family for payment.:S

My you are a demanding little critter aren't you?

Here 's something you should know.
Internet searches can reveal all kinds of information.

I don't care whether or not you believe me.
I could cite a hundred cases.

Unless you research it yourself you will never believe me.

Look it up or not.

I could care less.

Peace,
Jim B

Well, I looked it up and found "0" references. It appears you spoke from belief rather than fact.

In so doing, are you following your spiritual path to personal enlightenment? Or, did you just screw up?
