The ACLU wants to remove crosses on all federal property short of removing those on graves. I personally believe they will attempt to remove those on graves. Interesting that one of the plaintiffs here is a vet himself.

Jul. 19--One of the plaintiffs who sued the federal government over the Mojave Cross hopes he has found a solution to the controversy, but his proposal is controversial itself.

Allen Schwartz, a 67-year-old Jewish veteran in Colton, has purchased a 2-s...uare-foot cross of Malta for nearly $700. He wants his cross to replace the Christian cross on top of Sunrise Rock in the Mojave National Preserve.

Here's the solution:

Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) crafted a plan to keep the cross in place by transferring the patch of land where the cross sits to the VFW in exchange for five acres of privately owned land elsewhere in the preserve. The legislation was approved earlier this year, but the transfer has not been completed.

That solves the concerns on both sides.

The ACLU doesn't give a rat's ass about the Mojave memorial. They just want to get legal precedent on the books that they can leverage on a bigger issue later--like the crosses at Arlington.

I think I can honestly say all the Veterans I know of on this site do not like what is being attempted.
