I am sad today....

Recommended Posts

Barack Obama was sworn in as President of the United States today, and that makes me sad. Not because of his color, not because of his experience, not because he's younger than all previous Presidents - but because we, as a Nation, have demonstrated that principle and respect don't matter anymore.

For the record - I do not believe that Obama meets the native birth requirements dictated by the US Constitution. Either he was born outside of the country, as his own grandmother has stated, or was born as the son of a British subject, which also disqualifies him. Why else would he hire lawyers and spend thousands of dollars to SEAL all birth records and educational records that would list birthplace? If you asked me for my proof of birth, I would gladly show you right now - I have a copy in my wallet, and the original at home. Be glad to show you. He won't - why?

But more than that, it's that more people DON'T CARE. We are conferring the leadership of the most powerful nation on the planet on him - don't you care if he WILL faithfully execute the Office and defend the Constitution, the founding document of our Nation? Don't the founding principles mean anything anymore?

Add to that the SHAMEFULL treatment Bush got when walking to his seat from members of the audience - Hey, I'm no Bush fan anymore (he got really nutso these last few years!), but would NEVER chant derogatory comments in public, at an Inauguration of all places. It's rude, crass, childish and petty. Friggin grow up people - you don't have to like the man, but try to be an adult in public places. There's way too much of that these days.

We've become a Nation that has discovered we can vote ourselves "Bread and Circuses" (look it up if you're not sure what I mean) - and that may very well signal the downfall of this great country if we don't change our ways. That makes me sadder than anything else.

BTW, before some of you jump all over me, I read Barack's speech - it was pretty good, and I give him high points for it.

>I do not believe that Obama meets the native birth requirements
>dictated by the US Constitution.

You may not believe that, but every US court who has considered the matter has decided that he has.

>Either he was born outside of the country, as his own grandmother has stated . . .

Nope, she didn't say that. In her own words - "Bringing such pictures that are trying to imply that not only is he a foreigner, he is a Muslim is wrong, because that is not what he is."

> Why else would he hire lawyers and spend thousands of dollars to SEAL
>all birth records and educational records that would list birthplace?

Actually, he didn't do that. From FactCheck.org:

========
FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false.
========

>If you asked me for my proof of birth, I would gladly show you right now -
>I have a copy in my wallet, and the original at home.

OK, then I will ask you to do it. Post the original - with the original seal - on the net, right here in this thread. Or mail it to me and I will scan it, post it on the net and send it back. Your choice.

Part of acting like an adult, or "a man", can involve publicly expressing your distaste. Not towing the line.

1.Being the son of a British subject does not disqualify you if you were born in the US.
2. Even if he wasn't born in the US (he was) he was born to an American mother- case closed.
3. The government of Hawaii has stated that his birth record is there.

I did not see the 'treatment' you are referring to as I tuned in just before the speech. I did see the leaders of several European nations decline to shake his hand during his last trip over there. That speaks volumes as to how reviled he is around the world. GWB violated the US constitution repeatedly throughout his tenure and is a war criminal. What is shameful is that he will not be prosecuted because no one wants to shake the tree that hard.

Gonna call me on it, eh? Ok, fine. I'll do it tonight - I WILL black out any info that could be used for identity theft purposes, of course. Not gonna be stupid, you know.

And the Supreme Court has not decided yet - there is another conference on another lawsuit scheduled for this Friday.

I'm sorry that you're sad. If it makes you feel any better, most of us are happy.
Happy that we have a President who was able to make it to the White House on his own merit, one who has succeeded at just about every endeavor he's undertaken.
Happy that we have a President whose election is symbolic of the notion of the freedom, fairness and opportunity that we espouse and promote as the backbone of our nation.
Happy to have a President who doesn't embrace torture or an "ends justifies the means" approach to absolutely everything.
Happy to have a President who is satisfied with a 1/3 stake in our balance of government.
Happy to have a President who has gained the respect of most of the world's leadership, his peers.
And we're freakin' ECSTATIC that we have a President who doesn't make us wince and cringe every time he makes a public address.

It is toeing the line. "Toe the line", as in "To adhere to doctrines or rules conscientiously; conform."

I hate it when simple things like proof, court verdicts and documentation get in the way of illformed options. It makes life so much harder to deal with. Keep on keeping on!

4 previous Presidents named Roosevelt, Grant, Kennedy, and Clinton were younger.

Jeez, man... if you can't get the undisputed facts correct how can you expect to be taken seriously?

You know, you are absolutely correct. I apologize. I was originally going to say "one of the youngest" but I remembered a news article that said "youngest" and put that down instead. I should have verified my source. Sorry.

Uh, wait a minute, here. You said you'd post your original, unaltered birth certificate - not some altered, redacted copy. I mean, Obama posted the same thing (see below) and that's not good enough for you. Why would the same sort of deception be OK when you do it?

>And the Supreme Court has not decided yet . . .

Supreme Court dumps Obama birth certificate challenge (also McCain's)

As predicted in The Ticket earlier today, the Supreme Court has dismissed without comment a New Jersey suit seeking to block the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama over allegations he's not a natural-born American.

Not that the ex-senator, who's named about half his Cabinet and heads for a lengthy Hawaiian vacation soon, seemed the slightest bit worried over the suit.

The main contentions have been that Obama's Hawaiian birth certificate is a fake because he was born in Kenya, and because Obama's father was Kenyan, which was British at the time, Obama has dual citizenship, which isn't native-born American.

. . .

The court's dismissal means that the minimum four justices did not deem it worthy of an actual hearing. Another suit by Philip Berg of Pennsylvania remains at the court, arguing that not only is the Hawaiian certificate fake but that because Obama attended Indonesian schools that required local citizenship, he is also Indonesian.

Hey.. it shows a lot of character that you've responded so graciously. Now... share with us anything you've done to verify the other facts you've presented?

The incidence of stories should compel most people to discredit them by providing proof - he has done the opposite. I find that telling.

Hey, if he provides the original BC tomorrow, great - case closed, he's legit. All I'm asking for is the same response that was demanded of John McCain when his eligibility was questioned.

Dont worry.. All will be well. Tomorrow you can report to the local mosque and begin the conversion to Islam. You will need to pick a new name of couse.. so while reading the Quaran.... be sure to see what name resonates with you. Huyssein is popular and the always popular mohammed is also highly recommended.
Also you may notice a sligt decrease in your take home pay on Friday as the new taxes for converting the country to a socialist one will be in effect. You will at least have mediocre health care.. which for so many is an improvement. There will also be better public transit put in place as the fuel taxes will be so high that you will have to take the bus or train.

There should be rousing parades in a couple weeks as our young people are brought home from abroad. With this country finally an islamic state there will be no further need to protect us from the people worldwide who hate us. All will be good now.. all the problems will be solved. Peasce will reign eternal on earth.

Please note paragraph four. Jan 23 has another review on the docket.

I said I would gladly "show" you. I was thinking in person, but decided to meet your terms with some protections. I said nothing about posting unaltered.

The changes I make are to protect my privacy, and most likely you won't even see them, with one obvious exception, which I will note. If you still insist on a "viewing" with no security precautions, we can meet at Sky Knights in East Troy Wis. sometime and I will show you the original, hard copy. Fair enough?

As for the "original" that Obama posted, funny how there is no seal, no wrinkles, no fading, no fraying of the edges.....but this is my opinion, you have yours, and my post was not designed to change anyones.

I see that! However, that does not mean they "have not decided." It merely means someone is asking them the same question again.

Sounds fair, although I fear I will not be there for some time.

Ironically, your offer is exactly what Obama's offer was. He has posted a copy with parts removed to protect his privacy, and he has allowed news organizations and investigators to view the original directly.
