Why is there a need for a "gay day" for skydiving? Or any other kind of "day"?

GTA, PJ, cut it out. PJ, this is about your fourth warning. There will not be another.

Fine, bill, I'm out of this one. No more from me. If people want to do as they did with the "vibes" thread and continue on after I agree to cease and desist, that's their choice. (In that other case, I thought it was very disrespectful to you-know-who to persist, even descending into a conservative bash-fest as I was told it had done. I admitted my mistake in starting it and asked that it end, and then I held up my part and stopped posting.)

So if nothing else, maybe I'll get a reputation for meaning what I say when I say I am through posting to a certain thread. No amount of bait will bring me back here, but it sure will be fun watching to see how long everyone carries on in my absence, pathologically unable to stop.

Chute n Shoot would not discriminate between people of different characteristic makeups. Oh, guns owners and non-gun-owners, maybe? Well, anyone can decide to be a gun owner (if the law allows, so that leaves out minors, drug addicts, felons, and the insane. Sorry). It's not exclusionary.

Anyone can decide to suck a dick if they want, even if they are felons. Plus, straight people who are friendly towards gays are invited to this boogie. It's not exclusionary, except toward closed-minded bigots. Hopefully they're as rare as the anti-gun bigots you mentioned, but I kinda doubt it.

Last I checked, They are not going to force guys arriving at the DZ to give a BJ to Mark, or the gals a tongue bath to Kristen.

I'm not a local of that DZ anymore, but, had I lived in Montreal still, I'd make a point to go the the DZ to meet a few of the regs on here who are planning to visit.

And no, Mark... no BJ... :D

>So it's about time people got off my back and stopped
>pretending they don't understand why I started the poll.

One last post here and I am done. I figured that on the off chance that you posted the question because you wanted answers to it, they would be:

>Why is there a need for a "gay day" for skydiving?

I think you've gotten plenty of answers for this one. Primary answer - there is no need. People like boogies, and plan them for all sorts of reasons.

>Or any other kind of "day"?

Got your answer here, too. You have said you like the idea of a chute and shoot boogie/competition. Others feel the same way you do about a POPS boogie, or a birthday at the DZ, or a gay day, or a christian boogie. Try imagining yourself in their shoes, replacing "gun" with "gay" (or "over 40" or "christian") and you may get a feel for why they feel it's OK.

>Are gays mistreated in skydiving?

A few people were pretty honest in answering this one, so the fair answer is - occasionally. And from what most people have said, that has little to do with the reason for the boogie, although one poster said it would be nice to not have to worry about getting stared at for once.

>How do you feel about gay-specific skydive events, or
>women-specific ones, or "anything"specific ones?

Seems pretty clear that most people don't care much what the theme is as long as it's not exclusionary, and the party is good.

In other words, you can't counter my arguments logically, so you're not even going to try. I win. :)

Did you hear that? It's little butterflies weeping.

You give as you as you get, PJ. You are no martyr.

Your malicious sarcasm taints every single post you make to me. I may be no martyr, but I find I cannot respect a person who acts as you do, in alleged self-righteousness, no less.

I've never seen a speck of self-righteousness emanating from GTA's corner, PJ. Not the tiniest.

And characterizing him as malicious will only get you laughed at.

The "gay games"?

All I'm saying is that anyone who willfully separates him or herself along lines like sexual orientation loses their justification for being upset when others draw lines like that, and possibly exclude them from things, or even simply opt to dislike them.

Let me ask you about these "gay games." If it's like an Olympics specifically for gay people or something, will they allow NON-avowed gay people to compete?

And if so, what exactly makes it stay the "gay games"; and if not, how can you possibly defend this as not being discriminatory?

Ah now you've turned my reference into an endorsement, its an easy categorical fallacy many make in arguments.

I'll also note here that the event taking place in Montreal is actually called the Out Games.

I'm not a fan of women's world records or other events that divide. Exclusion is inherent.

Whereas something like the Chick Rock's or the Rainbow boggie does not exclude anyone, they are just themed. No one is turning away anyone, all are welcome.

A simple amount of research of the Out Games reveals that they are not exclusionary at all. Therefore this event isn't discriminatory.

I don’t understand your connection from partaking in one of these events as constituting willful separation from a larger population. If you travel to another drop zone to jump are you willfully disassociating your self with your home drop zone?

I was rather enjoying watching the flirtation myself. It's cute enough to make me consider a little fence-jumping. Maybe I'd have better luck with the lesbians than I do with the gay men. They continually resist my charms

Gender never really seemed like a totally appropriate divide to eliminate dating possibilities.. I consider it far more interesting to be attracted to a person rather than put up with a total idiot in my life just because it was " acceptable" that they were the proper gender as approved by the neighbors... my family... the church etc. I look around SC and thank GOD I dont have to put up with some of these guys in my life. I picture them having VERY stingent ideals of what womens roles are... and anyone not conforming to those roles scare the crap out of them. They continually lash out and I enjoy taking jabs at their comfortable little fantasies about living in thier 19th century mindset..... others here.. well..... they seem VERY attractive intellectually and they are good people who accept others for who they are not as they wish them to be.
