TomAiello 25 #1 February 3, 2005 So, let's see. Today's big news item: Gay Marriage ban fails in our state legislature. The state voted solidly (all but one county) for Bush. BASE jumping is allowed on public lands and from public structures. We have one of the highest per capita rates of gun ownership in the nation. I finally live in a place that fits my political philosophy. I just have to say, I love Idaho.-- Tom Aiello [email protected] SnakeRiverBASE.com

TomAiello 25 #9 February 4, 2005 QuoteDoes that include city and state owned B's? If there were any with exit points that had public access, I'd bet it would. But since there aren't any high enough, and there's no public access to the roof anyway, I don't think so. By "public structures" I meant "structures where the public is allowed to stroll around".-- Tom Aiello [email protected] SnakeRiverBASE.com

steve1 5 #15 February 4, 2005 Idaho is a great place. I grew up about about 30 miles from the Idaho border on the Montana side. I know of a really cool cliff on the Idaho side. I'll bet it's about 600 feet or so (if I remember right). I've often thought that if I was a base jumper that would be the cliff to try. But then again if you got hurt it might be a long way out on horseback. Or I guess you could call in a helicopter. If you went during the Fall you could also shoot an elk in there. Idaho is mostly "Red Neck" country, but most people are friendly and more open minded than you would expect.....Steve1 edit for BASE site location ~TA
TomAiello 25 #16 February 4, 2005 I appreciate the heads up. Actually, that cliff gets jumped occasionally (mostly by people going to or from Lost Prairie). I love hearing about possible BASE sites, but it's best to keep those discussions on PM. You might want to have a look at this thread. TomAiello 25 #17 February 4, 2005 QuoteIdaho is mostly "Red Neck" country, but most people are friendly and more open minded than you would expect... I've actually found that folks out in Red Neck Country are some of the friendliest on earth. As a Libertarian, I'm quite pleased with the "it's about people, not government" attitude of most Idahoans. Here's a bit from our local paper's article on the Gay Marriage ban thing: QuoteBoise State University political science professor Jim Weatherby... Although Idaho is considered to be staunchly conservative and has the most Republican government in the nation, Idaho residents have a bipartisan tendency against allowing government to interfere in private matters, Weatherby said. "There's just a healthy dose of libertarianism in Idaho politics," Weatherby said. "Idaho is a conservative red state, but it's more economically conservative than socially conservative."-- Tom Aiello [email protected] SnakeRiverBASE.com
