Jimbo 0 #2 September 3, 2004 I suspect that immediately following the elections we'll be inundated with threads about how the election was rigged, how the country will go downhill quickly, who played dirty pool, etc . . . After that's all died down we'll get back to that which really matters: guns. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. Yes, I have been noticing that election/political talk dominates this forum, and since I was not a member before it really started to be the issue, I don't know if it ever was not this way. I am looking forward to seeing what it's like, say, midway between presidential elections. I suspect that there will be plenty of sour-grapes threads regardless of who is elected president. If it's Bush, it'll be diatribes about how he's not doing this or that right, and of course there will be claims, no matter how absurd, that he or his brother helped rig the election for him to win, how this wasn't fair and that wasn't fair. I never heard anything like that from Republicans when Clinton was elected twice -- it certainly did not dominate the news media if it happened in isolated corners -- but the Democrats have become known for grumbling pettily about how elections are set up to stymie them and their supporters. A bunch of whiners, they are, and it's good that they don't control the country. --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" nacmacfeegle 0 #9 September 3, 2004 Well, the thing is...the really important elections aren't till next year, when Tony Blair will be fighting to keep his primacy. Of course, our elections are nowhere near as entertaining as yours.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Every time I see the House of Commons on TV, I think it's got to be a comedy skit trying to spoof the House of Commons--but nope, that's the real thing. -- Tom Aiello [email protected] SnakeRiverBASE.com
